SNK is mocking Turks in the Fatal Fury trailer

I'm English and my nation is hated and shat on by almost everyone. We don't care. We have thick skins.

Turkey needs to lighten up.

Turks has a huge inferiority complex due to European powers bullying the previously so mighty Ottoman Empire into nothingness in the 1800s.

As someone who's used to being associated with Hitler and the Holocaust. No, this isn't random, but it's also super light hearted and not serious at all. To take offense in that is really weak.

Not really but growing up in Spain we got a lot of English in the summer and we always wondered how you procreate as all your men seemed gay.

Well decades later we found out that we were right: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cly4g2v0ej6o

When you realize that your country became the #1 gay vacation destination.

Hey it could have been much worse than clean well mannered gay guys. It could have been straight stinky Turks. 😱

Stop being a little bitch. Everyone gets shit on, on any given day. If you're a man, get the damn sand out of your vagina and laugh, or move on.

I don't know the culture. Is there a stereotype of a turkish goofball? In the US when I was growing up, indian men were always goofy characters. The exception I can remember from the eighties was from the short circuit movies where the leading (human) character was an indian scientist who was mild-mannered but brave. Otherwise, they ran convenience stores and took shit all day from anyone who went by.

He wasn't Indian. That was Fisher Stevens.

It's because all this time hot air balloons need the balloons to fly because of some policy, not because of physics. Since there isn't anyone to force the policy (no cops) he could fly without one.

It's a decent joke but it would be more in home as a throwaway gag in a movie like Naked Gun or something. Having a whole video upload, with high production values, just for that feels like trying too hard.

Also, i had no idea this guy existed before this thread.

Ohhhhhhh ok i get it now lol ty man. And ya making an entire video about 1 joke like that is just baffling loll. It really just feels like he did it just because he was rich and he could essentially.

What has been done to your countries is not my fault, and I don't approve of it either(Senator Armstrong was cool btw). When there are things you don't like in the gaming industry, please share them here too. We don't need to insult these people complaining about gaming companies that are disrespectful to their nations.

Here, we are talking about a once-legendary Japanese company — now backed by Saudi funding (which has certainly had a 100% influence in this matter) — that has deliberately depicted and voiced a character as stupid and ugly, in an attempt to insult an entire nation. We are talking about a trailer for a fcking fighting game — what kind of purpose could this possibly have, other than Saudi hatred against Turks? They also have integrated two awful characters into a legendary game series just for Saudi money, that shows how low and desperate they have become.

I'm not angry about random internet user comments. It has become clear that Turks are not very well-liked here either. This is different. It shouldn't be this easy for a commercial company to try to humiliate an entire nation.

My man, relax.

Do you really think the Saudi state are that petty that they would use a Japanese fighting game to "insult" a nation?

Please.

And it's not that Turkey is disliked here, just that people think Turkey needs to stop taking itself so seriously.

At 0:08, the character dubbed in Turkish is depicted as a one-eyebrowed, crooked-eyed guy who wants to become a poker 'table'. Why would a Turk say something like that? Why would only one nation's name be mentioned in such a trailer, and why would the person supposedly representing them be portrayed like that?

Looks like SNK has sold their honor for Saudi money too. It's pathetic.

It portrayed probably arab from east turkey. After all the saudis need to represent themselves in a game.

dude... he's from Bosnia and lives in Sweden... pretty sure that was just a light-hearted joke he came up with 🤣
his humor is completely random and nonsensical most of the time.

He's nutty but i love that people are becoming more aware of him.

We take the piss out of ourselves as much as anyone.

I have no time for jingoism. Unfortunately when it's a country like Turkey everyone isn't allowed to call out their racist biggoted behaviour because they can hide behind their "culture" and "patriotism". It's all bullshit.

In Short Circuit, wasn't the Indian the comic relief sidekick to the the main scientist, who was like a whiter than white dude?

I'm aggressively patriotic (to England, not the UK), but I can laugh when people poke fun of my nation. I think it's in the English blood. We know we're the greatest country to ever exist, so any jokes and criticism fall like water off a ducks back 😉

Hmmm. Memories could be scrambled. Lemme check.

ha. You're right I think it was steve gutenburg in the first one and michael mckeen in the second one. I guess kid me saw the indian ben as the hero. I remember him in the radio shack scene but that was micharl mckeen!!! And ben was a white guy ghandi-style. :lollipop_grinning_sweat: My childhood continues to crumble.

This isn't about Turkey's honour, it's about OP's paranoia that the Saudis are out to get them so much that they're willing to influence a man's nutty videos to make a joke that is a drop in the ocean of his oddball jokes just to put the entire nation of Turkey down.

OP, you aren't seeing things clearly here. This is why people are laughing and taking the piss.

You don't know anything about recent relations between Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Google khashoggi and cancelled super cup final of Turkey.

Irrelevant to the matter at hand, quite frankly. If someone burned down your house, would your revenge include paying someone to shake up a can a coke but only a little bit? Because as an insult or other act of malice this "Mocking Turks" is shit. It's a very mild joke at best.

Your extreme bias against Saudi Arabia has led you down a path where SNK has picked a side and is now a villain. That's not a fact, and it seems more like an emotional response in all honesty. People have said why they don't agree, and the reasoning is more sound than SNK and Salvadore both selling their soul and mocking Turkey for Saudi money.

And to make it abundantly clear: no one in this thread is defending the Saudis.

America, European countries are mocked all the time in media from all sources of the world.

As soon as it's some middle eastern country there immediately up in arms. I'm aware turkey is in Asia minor but I'm basically talking that part of the world .

Given how little our media values Middle Eastern lives, there seems to be something to that. Just saying!

op needs to go to era.

SNK just shot themselves in the foot.
I don't know how much the rest of you know about Turkiyesh culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in Turkiye, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.
What this means is the turkiyesh public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Fatal Fury, nor will they purchase any of SNK's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but SNK has alienated an entire market with this move.

SNK, publicly apologize and cancel Fatal Fury altogether or you can kiss your business goodbye.

Turks can barely afford food, their economy is horrible, and their currency is worth less than the paper it is printed on, i think the last thing on their mind is a niche fighting game.
