So Black Ops 6 comes out in a week, any COD Zombie fans here?

Even if traditional COD isn’t your thing, Zombies is a great multiplayer experience with ALOT of depth.

We are returning to round based zombies and they just put out a massive amount of news yesterday about the game and upgrade paths.

They cleaned up the HUD

I'm a big fan of Zombies mode, early Zombies mode was peak entertainment for me when I was younger.

Looking forward to playing it again on PC, do we know if Zombies has cross play? Zombies on PC have a significantly lower player base compared to consoles.

I like zombies but I play multiplayer way more. I am very hopeful for this zombies as the last few have been a bit in the meh side.

Yep can't wait to jump back in with some friends. Looking forward to new additions to the game and finally going back to regular maps and objectives.

SO! Interesting and timely discussion for me, at least.

I have played a lot of COD. I do call it out for a lot of its bullshit as needed. It is indeed greedy corpo moneyware, but…it can also be a lot of fun and that’s all I want from video games. I was going to pass at launch because they’re not letting camos and I think skins carry over. I spent a lot of time playing to get those camos, and I spent some real money on some skins. Lame af.

But I’m in the mood for some pew pew pew, and some coworkers are going to be playing it, and I’ve always stayed away from Zombies mode but now I’m interested in trying it. I’ll have to check out the info dump on Zombies. Thanks for the thread, TC.

Ive really enjoyed MWZ just as a playground thing, but the quest experience has been awful. I still havent cleared an early mission where you have to freeze 10 hellhounds, because I cant find a freakin freeze mod for my weapon. Its just too random, what happens. Or maybe Im doing it wrong.

So round-based zombies, is that more like a horde mode with waves coming in?

I just preordered tonight. In fact I was just checking out some mp vids. Loving the maps. I know little about zombies in this one so that's the next vid. Is it still 4 man horde?

Can’t stand it and never play it.

However, it just shows you the value for money that COD is.

Zombies, MP, Campaign - all are large enough to be stand alone full price games!

Zombies looks very good. The extra upgrades on perks and more are nice, and the announcement of a 3rd map on the way prior to Xmas is welcome. The two maps they've shown look rather open, so Stamin Up looks like a good choice.

I believe that levelling up carries across both zombies and multi-player so even though I'm a bit crap at multi-player I'll be able to level up and unlock everything through zombies!

Tried zombies once, when they tried to make a "horde" mode in COD. Never played the mode again
I encourage you to try it again.
It’s been in the series for about 15 years now. All the “horde” modes came out around the same time, Gears and COD being the most successful.

You can play it just as a survival map

But each map has Easter eggs and a main quest, which to me is the most rewarding part of the game mode. There is an actual story.

I have played it and didn't get it. It seems like you hunt some obtuse Easter eggs. Good look with that with some Randoms without mics

A lot of my console friends play so i’ll likely buy just for that on my Pro and omit the PC purchase this time.

Zombies is a ton of fun i usually play with my brother and wife and some friends but we didn't like the open world zombie stuff. Glad it's going back to round based very much looking forward to it.

What timezone you at? I could probably drop several cryo freeze for you

They were called easter eggs because the mode started as a simple survival/horde mode. They got more elaborate which each subsequent game, but still hard to figure out.
Treyarch changed that with cold war, they deleted the past zombie universe, because it became far too convoluted and stupid, and just plain hard to follow, and started a new universe, bringing along only two legacy characters, Edward richthofen and samantha maxis.
And they made the new universe canon to CoD in general, so it no longer happens as some alternate separate mode.

The main story is now also called main quest instead of easter egg and the characters on the radio tell you what to do, so it no longer feels like you are doing random obscure shit.

Blops6 goes a step further and will have a directed mode, where you will get lots of direction and the zombie waves will stop advancing in difficulty so you can focus on the main quest.

Interesting. I haven't payed attention to it in years. I got bored running around a house with zombies trying to get in, then spending cash on weapons and trying to board up doors and windows.
Maybe I'll give it a try on BLOPs 6 when needing a break from multiplayer

That's because the whole mode was an easter egg back then lol, you had to play a specific map in the campaign of cod5 to unlock it.
Now it's a whole game by itself with its own story/maps/weapons/powerups etc.

Thats really nice of you, but I think unless its the mod itself, I dont think its worth it because Ive had a few one time use mods but then you have to find the damn hellhounds in the time you got. And for them not to be killed in one shot, and get the cryo debuff. So something about having the luck to find or be given a cryo mod, and then go into the medium sector to find some hellhounds that dont die in one shot. I got 4/10 frozen hellhound for that quest so far, after a bunch of runs with succesful exfils. I found a speed cola blueprint, the only one so far. And I read the blueprints drop in basically all caches.

Ive moved on from MW3 as well, for now. Because of Vessel of Hatred to have some time for that, and then BLOPS 6 next week.

But a big thanks for thinking about it :messenger_grinning:

I believe aether nests almost always have cryo ammo, also outlast contracts spawn ton of hell hounds basically forever, since the contract doesn't have a time limit, you can try for the entire duration; as long as you don't upgrade your gun at all, so no wrenches or packing, you should get it in one run.

I loved the OG zombies and BOps. Didn't play the others. I like what MW3 tried though it kept crashing for me.

Excited for BO6

I might try it for the 1st time. Hopefully its a little more casual. Probably the only multiplayer I would touch.

It's also worth mentioning that it's one of the only modes that is wildly different between COD releases.

Cold War Zombies, especially Outbreak, was great.

Vanguard Zombies was atrocious. Fuck that shit..

MW3 Zombies is... MW2 DMZ with zombies.. I've played it a lot, but it's not ideal.

I'm very hopeful about the coming version, should be closer back to Outbreak again, which sounds fantastic to me. Hope there's not too few maps at release tho.

Please pardon my idiocy in advance. I preordered BO6 digitally on PS5 and now it wants me to install a ton of MW II and III campaign content, Warzone, and BO6 campaign stuff.

What do I need to install to play BO6? I don’t want to waste time downloading unnecessary stuff. Please halp! 😅

EDIT: Oh snap. I’m sorry. I thought this was the other BO6 thread. 😩 I just worked a 12 hour overnight shift and I’m exhausted. Pardon the off topic post. 😬

Call of Duty is basically a launcher now for MW II, III and BO6. You have to download the base CoD "launcher." Then individually download 2, 3, or BO6 content that loads within that 1 launcher all integrated together.

I loved zombies but I'm not a fan of how they've modernized it. Too much bloat for me, lots of tacked on progression that takes away from the simple and satisfying gameplay loop. I get that they couldn't keep doing the same things over and over but at this point it's not what I look for in zombies at all.

Tacked on progression is exactly the word I was looking for with regards to MWZ edit in MW3. Not just the one quest, but the whole quest system.

Zombies I avoid today it’s not good, before you had to board up windows, earn a gift, accumulate currency for a gift now zombies lost its soul, it’s essentially battle royale that goes on forever, confusing and tunes into warzone energy.

lol I just enabled black ops 6 content - content pack 1 on my xsx, to prepare for the pre-load in a couple hours, and it just straight up uninstalled MWIII instead...

I just played my first round of Zombies with coworkers. I had no idea what was going on but it was fun! lol

So how does Exfil and loot work?
Do we have to exfil in order to keep certain loot?
What loot do we keep if we exfil?
How many people have to exfil?

Managed to exfil solo on my first blops6 Zombies experience. Had no idea what was going on from start to finish though, lol. Hectic af.

I see people enjoying it, good, but I can't help but be disappointed it's nothing like Breakout. This version is a bit too chaotic for my taste.

But my impression might change when I get used to playing it.

Loot? What loot? It's not an extraction mode.
