So.......did Doug ever hook up with Patty?

Hitting it? In a kids' show? No, but in the Disney finale, they finally go on an official date. Haven't seen it, had to read Wikipedia to find out what I missed out on in the Disney years.

Is there a particular scene with them on a date or do you have to watch the whole episode containing it?

I feel like there was some really gritty comic in the awesome fan art thread back in the day where Skeeter had raped and murdered Patti, but now I can't find it.

Nah she got with Porkchop and Skeeter filmed it. Doug saw the video when he was browsing porn on the Internet and went into a deep depression. He never finished college and spent the rest of his life as a manager at Cowboy Jacques House of Boeuf.

I feel like Doug was this really nichey show in its day, and it recently blew up for some reason as the kids who grew up on it were in their mid-20s and found each other on the internet.

Nah, it's more likely all the old Nick cartoons had huge viewerships back in the day by virtue of simply being on, it's just that kids didn't talk about it back then. Also the show felt like it was intended for a slightly older audience that most of the other Nicktoons, subversive Rocko humor aside.

Sure I didn't mean it was unknown... it was on Nick. But you hit the nail on the head: kids didn't talk about it back then.

Doug was not big in the 90s. But it's huge in any 90s retrospective "only 90s kids will get this" internet thing.

I did like the show though... I can see why people are retrospectively fond of it. It's better than most of the childhood trash that people hold up nostalgically.

I watched every episode of Doug as a kid in elementary school, but even as a kid I was extremely aware that the character was waaaaaaaaaaaay too pure/good for me to ever relate to. I remember one episode he found a fuckton of money, like $14,000, gave it to the police, 30 days later, they gave it back to him and said it was legally his because nobody came forth and said "Hey I lost $14,000!!!", then found out who it was for and gave it back to them anyway and got a stick of gum for his troubles lol.

It was popular enough for Disney to bring it back from it's graveyard on Nickelodeon.
