So how bad is the Switch stock situation?

How trustworthy is amazon warehouse? would you guys get a used switch from there?

Well, it's got Amazon's full return policy I think so there's not much trust involved. You'd have to be confident that you know enough about potential hardware issues to check the device over thoroughly within the return period. I don't normally buy used hardware on amazon simply because the price is usually so close to new, but in this case I'd probably consider it.

I wonder if this is actually doing much better than the Wii alU or if it's just supply constrained. I distinctly remember walking into GameStop a week after launch and seeing Wii Us for sale. Hell, I saw USED wii us for sale.

I did the bundle at Gamestop and will return DDR or trade it in for Mario Kart 8. The other stuff that comes with it was stuff that was on my list to buy the system anyway so win win for me.

They are saying Mid April is when the system will ship however that might be the latest they are expecting the systems. Who knows.

The first time I used the Switch on the Subway in Manhattan, someone sat right across from me and also took out a Switch.

But of course there is no Streetpass this time around.. :(

Don't get me wrong, but considering this is only 10 days post-launch, is the lack of available inventory really all that surprising? Units from increased production to meet demand take time to get here.

Demand seems to be pretty high in the US, bunch of friends looking for the switch that haven't had any interest in Nintendo since the wii. Also talked to the bestbuy manager and he said they are getting tons of calls daily for the switch, also a target electronic employee said they were getting a crazy amount of calls for it.

Truth is Zelda and Mario kart 8 should carry sales into this holiday when Mario launches.

The people that skipped the WiiU are in for a serious treat.

Tenneightypee too!

true, but i feel after the WiiU they were being overly cautious, hopefully the momentum keeps up as the system is godly.

I thought there was some crazy estimates of like 9-10 million units to be shipped in the first year? I kind of imagined they'd be sending out shipments every damn week if demand kept up.

Yeah, GameStop policy is that you need to return everything was bundled you can't return individual parts of the.

*Unless you get someone who doesn't know policy
**Unless your receipt is itemized separately

So basically there won't be any more Switches in the US until another month from now? What the fuck?

I think that's a bit of a blanket statement. Take it for what it's worth, but there are people in this thread that claim they have seen stock, albeit in small numbers, on shelves. The targets near me got a restock the Sunday after launch.

I think it's just that historically retailers (at least at the level of the person you would be speaking too) don't know the upcoming stock situation. A Best Buy store could theoretically get a shipment this week, that doesn't mean that the person working the register is aware that they will be in the next shipment. Every interaction I've had it's been more of a "we don't know when". I feel like the people saying there won't be a shipment for at least a month are the same as the GameStop employees who are saying they aren't getting any until November.

I asked a bestbuy customer service employee in Yonkers NY for a ETA on the next shipments, they said " we can't give you a ETA at this time, but we should have a better idea at the end of the month". Take this as you will.

It seems it has never been completely sold out here in Sweden, and now I'm seeing more of it again. I had actually expected it to be sold out for a few weeks at least.

They gotta add it in an update. They just gotta.

Pretty sure this will never be added, it sucked the battery of the 3ds dry and the Switch already has struggles with this, as well, it was a useless feature for most not in huge cities.

Obviously options are nice, but I imagine Nintendo got enough data to see it wasn't worth it.

They don't have to do it the same way.

It can be set where certain locations are relay points and when you pass the point it will sync other players who have passed the point. It doesn't need to be a continuous sync and search for other 3DS users type situation.

Live in AZ, called every Target, Walmart, and Best Buy near me and not a single store had it. Wanted to get it for my B-day, feelsbadman.jpg.

Here in the U.K. I think the return period is 30 days, which feels a little bit short to me for bigger purchases. As you say you'd have to really understand hardware issues and when they can happen.

One of the things I'll miss most about 3ds :(

I've taken my switch out a few times but I'm paranoid until the stock situation is better. Someone's gonna wind up snatching it thinking they can get a shit ton of money. I want that to get better so I can feel at ease playing it on my way to work.

They just received a new batch of Neon/Grey consoles in the Spanish supermarket where I had reserved it (Eroski). It arrived this morning, so maybe that means that a new shipment of consoles has arrived to Spain/Europe.

End of this month? Shit at that point just wait for Persona 5 on 4/4 then remember the switch exists a month later.

How would such a relay point even exist? I'm not entirely savvy on this stuff but i'm not imagining how Nintendo could implement such a thing without the use of GPS or something, not saying it can't be done though, if it can, they should do something.

They already have relays for 3DS. They're usually just in electronics/retail stores. I know I've passed one in Best Buy a few times.

ugh that's just awful.

Thinking about going to Target in about 40 minutes since I know they get a truck on Monday morning...

While we are at it i post this here too

amazon.es update - package is at the clearing agency awaiting final release. No updated delivery date yet but will post when I have one (ordered afternoon 3/8).

The customs stuff is what can hold up international orders the most, but I think it depends on the item. I've had books and bike parts fly through customs, whereas a bag of coffee sat there for 3 days.

I live in Central Illinois and my local Best Buy told me yesterday that they were expecting more in tomorrow (so today).

I'll be making some calls throughout the day and probably drop in at some point to confirm since I live like 300 yards from Best Buy.

Available online as well or you're talking about specific stores?

Ordered the same time you did and I also have that status. So at least it's normal. My delivery date is Wednesday currently.

yup, same for me (Wednesday). Let me know if yours changes, sounds like we're on the same trajectory at least.

Since I ordered over the weekend, Amazon Spain has gone from "back in stock on March 17" to "we don't know when this will be back in stock." Not sure if that bodes well for me...

When do you guys wager Amazon (North America) will have some neons in stock for online order?

April?

I think April seems to be the safe bet for right now. Nintendo's initial allotment for Switch was scheduled for this current FY, which ends March 31st.

Amazon NA also needs to get their shit together for the next shipment though. It's absolutely insane that people could get units via Prime Now on launch day and those who pre-ordered had to wait until the Monday after launch in many cases. I ordered one for a friend who had their shipment get delayed at the last second. I called and complained so much that they gave me $30 back!

My bigger concern is there being sufficient stock across all retailers.

If you've ordered already, I would assume yours has been removed from their inventory.
It took a while for mine to change status or get any updates, in case your worried. Biggest problem is usually if your bank gets suspicious of a charge to Spain. That delayed mine 3 days.

Yeah, I called my bank ahead of time and told them what was up and they said they would flag my account so the transaction would go through. Plus my order says "preparing for shipment" but I don't know how accurate that is at all.

sounds like you're good to go, same situation for me (minus the bank thing). It took several days to update the order with any information.
