So how bad is the Switch stock situation?

Let's be real here. Look at the games for the next few months. Once you finish Zelda it's probably not going to get nearly as much use, so what's the rush?

It's only been out for 10 days. No reason to jump to conclusions about future store situations. If Nintendo comes out and says no more stock for six months, maybe get worried short of that what's the point?

An argument could really be made for waiting until holiday. Hopefully get a nice bundle and have Zelda, Mario and whatever other games interest you all in the queue.

Valid points, and to be honest I still need to finish Horizon: Zero Dawn before taking on another large game. My wife wants to play Zelda but I know Mario Kart is what she really wants, so yes I can totally wait. I am not going to wait super long though, just keep checking local stores and refreshing the Amazon page here and there haha.

Well I just spent 126 on a pro controller. I got back 450 bucks today though from paying over the amount I owed when I traded in my car so I'll justify it by thinking it was basically extra money anyways. I've spent more on dumber things than that and I'm sure I'll get my money's worth of use out of it once Splatoon and Mario Kart come out.

damn, where are you located that it was $126 second-hand?

Amazon lol. Only one with prime shipping. I want it here by Thursday for the weekend. Can't handle the joycon grip any longer. It's new in box supposedly, I guess I'll find out Thursday.

Damn what? You sure you didn't check Prime Now, it's been available since launch for me at $70 in the LA area at least. Not even some stores nearby? My Walmart had plenty of accessories still left.

I'm about to just pay 125 for a pro controller. Tired of driving all over and calling every day. Fucking absurd that it's this difficult to find a controller. The console itself I understand but the controller not being available blows my fucking mind.

Please don't do this, these aren't that hard to find.

I live in Alabama. No prime now here lol and I have literally checked every Best Buy, GameStop, Walmart and Target within a 50 mile radius. No one has had a single one since launch. I'm sick of calling and driving around everyday.

I feel your pain. I'm in Mississippi. Prime Now definitely isn't happening any time soon.

I have prime now and they're in stock where I am (Orlando). If you can still cancel it I'd send one your way for the total + shipping.

What is the estimated time frame for this product being readily accessible? Just want to set my expectations, I don't have the desire to follow this thing every day.

Might see some relief in April. Nobody seems to know, and Nintendo isn't saying. I think summer in the worst case.

I would imagine within a month you could walk into a store and pick one up. That said, it took almost 2 years for the Wii to be readily available, so you never know. Wii level demand was a perfect storm though, so I don't it'll be anything like that.

Can I walk into a store tomorrow (Montreal, Canada) and purchase a console? I mean, how bad is the shortages? My chances are close to slim huh?

Idk about Canada but I've given up down here in Philadelphia. I tried nearly every store in the tri-state area and found nothing, calling or visiting the store. Even tried some places up near NYC, which from this thread I already knew would fail too. Looks like waiting until April for restock at retail stores may be legit.

I caved and bought one from Amazon.es direct so we'll see how that goes. I've heard nothing but positive things about it barring you get a 6 dollar adapter to go with it. Somehow it cost me a few dollars less than had I bought one here in the States. Hopefully stock gets in soon so it can get shpiped out, but man it would've been nice to have it for the blizzard hitting the east coast today with no work.

I originally thought things were going to be okay, but I'm feeling less optimistic now. The initial shipments were healthy, but restocking has been super slow. I think we might be in for a tough couple months...

It's going to be agonizing waiting for my Amazon.es order this week.

So you got it from the Spanish store too? Did you buy an adapter for the states? And how long did it take to process your order out of curiosity?

Just picked mine up from John Lewis in London after a few cropped up on the website on Sunday - was half expecting the whole thing to have been a systems error.

No Zelda or Pro controllers in sight so looking like ill have to download and pay £60 or wait.

I bought a universal plug adapter for about $10 from Target.

I ordered my Switch on Saturday, it currently says "we received your order" but allegedly will ship out today with a delivery day of the 15th through the 20th. But I've seen other people in this thread say date estimates were way off, so I don't really know what to expect. I paid for the fastest shipping option, so I hope it comes by Friday!

The dates were a little off. I ordered on the 3/8 and on 3/10 it said "It is sent today" but didn't look like it shipped until 3/12.

It is moving quickly though. It is expected to get here tomorrow. (East Coast)

Mine has said "Pending shipping" forever.. not sure what's going on. I ordered it on the 9th. Delivery date says the 22nd.

mine did the same... it should update soon for you.

I just spoke with a rep (in english, no problem hah) said the item seems to be fine, on track to ship etc. I guess it's just taking awhile. I had heard someone earlier in the thread claim that they had heard NOA would still service PAL units and the like? He never backed up this claim or provided a source though.. has anyone heard anything about that?

Good news everyone, my amazon.es Switch went from Spain, to Germany, and has arrived in Kentucky now!

I just wish there was a way to get an estimate on delivery.

It only promised to be here before April 16.

That seems to be the date a lot of retail is going by.
I'm pretty confident that Nintendo told everyone "we're not sure when the second shipment will go out, but it'll probably be around the middle of April", hence GameStop being so bull-ish on only selling bundles from now on.

I'm hearing that not only the console but Zelda itself is almost completely sold out in the UK. It's been a while since I heard of games selling out, maybe it happens all the time.

I don't think so, neighbor, I'm in Quebec City and the thing cannot be found anywhere here.

Tried 5-6 different places today, nothing.

Womp womp.

Wow, the only time I ever worried about a Zelda game selling out was when Zelda 2: Adventure of Link came out for the NES. I remember being at Toys R Us when they came out and put the tickets out to buy the game. I was the only one in the video game aisle and there was a thick stack of tickets, so I worried for nothing haha.

OOT sold out on N64. I know this because Virgin cancelled my pre-order due to lack of stock. Oh the pain.

I could see it being a problem back then when we were younger because they were large cartridges that were probably difficult to manufacture. It's just amazing in 2017 this is a potential issue still

...Oh god I'm getting old :(

Been playing BotW on my Switch from Amazon.es - pretty much impossible to tell it didn't come from NA once you stick the plug adapter on. I linked my existing nintendo club account no problem and was logged into the NA eshop by default. It's the most seamless region-free device I've used.

Honestly I was never one to care about region-free stuff in the past, but I'm really glad this system fully supports it. So there's nothing special I'll need to do when I open it and set it up? I assume the setup process asks you for language and region. Is that it?

You definitely select the language at setup, but I'm not sure if it even asks you for region aside from specifying your time zone? I could be wrong about this without verifying the details, but I think the only place region matters is when accessing the eshop. You choose a user account to sign into the eshop with, and I believe you can set the region on the user account itself and this determines which eshop region you access. So if you wanted to buy something from the japanese store you'd create a local user account in that region and then select it when you access the store? I haven't actually done it yet so I'm fuzzy on the details, but I think I read somewhere that this is how it works.

This is fantastic news, definitely making me breathe a little easier. Thanks for your input!
