So how bad is the Switch stock situation?

I can get one at the electronics market in Shanghai pretty easily, but dude is asking 3000rmb/435 US dollars for it. Last week he said he'd have them for 2380rmb. Yesterday he said they have lots of people coming in and asking for it so the price is high. Told me if I can wait a week or two til the demand is lower he'll sell it for that original quoted price. He also has extra pro controllers and a decent assortment of games.

Can't be that bad this person picked up some.

I know that the two Brisbane EB Games here in Australia are all sold out of their first shipments. However Target, Big W and JB all have a ridiculous amount of stock lying around. Might be due to people not associating gaming with those retailers.

There's also plenty on Ebay, although most are asking ~$600 just for the console. More listings have shown up today around the $490-$520 mark. There's just not much demand.

All the Targets, Walmarts, Best Buy's, and GameStops in my area (Northern VA/Fairfax) are sold out. Going to a Target at 8AM tomorrow because I've been told they'll have it.

I find it mind blowing that the Switch could go through R&D, testing, etc. and no one caught that the dock without some kind of protection would be a good idea.

The entire thing should be felt lined or it should be open faced like the Vita dock or on a slant like certain tablet chargers. I'm extremely careful with my stuff and you just can't sit or take the Switch out of the cradle without feeling like it's going to hurt the screen.

For everything Nintendo does right and every little thing they think of, I don't see how they blew this so badly.

In Argentina they are asking about $800 USD for it. I will wait.
I'm traveling to America this April, do you guys think I will be able to get one then?

This was handled way better than Wii launch. Just keep your eyes open I'm sure Nintendo is still shipping them out.

Mexico : plenty of them on a lot of places ( Sears, Gamers , Gameplanet), also amiboo, pro controllers and games.

The only problem: almost no one is buying it , console at 500 US and Zelda at 80 US. Very expensive since you can get a regular Xbone with a game by 300 US

The console is tiny btw.

I've been to two Targets... No Switch.

Is Best Buy supposed to get more tomorrow? I think I read they are holding back stock for their Sunday as.

I think Best Buy and Target are supposed to have a bunch tomorrow morning, at least that's what reps at both stores told me.

Went to two GameStops and a target today, no switch consoles in stock
Saw 1 special edition Zelda breath of the wild at the GameStop and plenty of games and amiibos
Amiibos are flooded so that means clearance prices might happen for the breath of the wild ones :D

I think it would be very odd for a new console to come out and it not be in the following Sunday's sale ads. That said, I think stock was held back for tomorrow

400-500K was normal console launch range. It wasn't until the PS4/XBO where they finally decided to make as many as they can.

That said Toys R Us and such claim they have a second wave coming in for Sunday. So people could keep an eye out then

My Best Buy said they'll have some tomorrow, because they're required to hold some for the Sunday ad.

It didn't sound like they were getting in more. Just selling launch units they had to set aside.

The store is run by religious Jews, they do not work on Saturdays and they close at 2:00pm on Fridays.

My favorite store in NYC and a must visit for any photographer or video peeps.

I'm familiar with B&H but for some reason I never imagined their site's checkout system would observe Shabbat.

So I'm stuck in a delima. I have like 240 in games top credit but I feel like gamestop is the least likely place for me to pick one up.

I know I can get one at target tomorrow, but I'd have to pay full price out of pocket.

Yeah any store advertising Sunday will have inventory set aside for it because by law they cannot advertise and not have any stock

I didn't plan to get a Switch until this summer, but I did check a Best Buy in Brooklyn today(Bay Parkway, off the Belt Parkway), since I dropped a customer to the shopping center. One attendant I spoke to said they only had units for those who preordered. The attendant was not able to confirm when more shipments would arrive.

Welp, based on this thread I cancelled my eBay order (it wasn't toooo bad but I was still overpaying by about $60, it was a Neon with Zelda and 1-2 Switch for $500) and I'm going to try my luck tomorrow. Any guess on the best place to start out would be? The closest is a Target but it's a smaller one, then I have a couple of Best Buys close and only one Toys R Us anywhere near me. That Toys R Us is also close to that second Best Buy and is also closer to a larger Target, so I'm thinking I should start there, especially since that's also where I scored my Wii on launch day.

A friend picked one up yesterday from Big W (Darwin, AU). They still had 15 in stock, though apparently, some of the other stores in main shopping centre had sold out.

Launch in the Dallas area had just about every place sold out. Not sure how stock is now. I had a GS preorder, but a friend ended up waiting in line at Wal-Mart for six hours. They had 20.

It's probably going to be a while before anyone can easily get a Switch, but given how there are reports of issues, it may not be bad idea to give those a chance to sort themselves.

I walked in to a Target in Indianapolis one hour after they opened and grabbed one on launch day. They still had about six left, but I imagine they are gone now. After tomorrow it'll probably be pretty tough for a little while

I went to a Best Buy, Target and Walmart at around 11AM on launch day in my area and there were no Switch consoles. I was actually looking for some neon joy-cons and a pro controller. The pro I got was one of two left at target and I found one of the last two pairs of neon joy-cons left at Walmart. At all stores, the Switch section looked ravaged.

I don't know how is the situation in Japan but every single videogames shop in Hong Kong (hundreds or more) have shit loads of Japanese imported stock since day one. That's how I got mine, the shop I got it from had 20 cartons of them.
And yes, HK has its own version, which I haven't seen anywhere. All gone with preorders.

Checked out brickseek at the bar when my friend asked about it and there were 11 greys zero neons at the Wal Mart near us. Seems like they're easy enough to find but might require a bit of digging around.

I'd call the store to be sure. BrickSeek said a local Walmart for me had four in stock, yet the sales rep confirmed they were out.

Brickseek doesn't show only available stock, it shows all stock including pre-orders that haven't been picked up yet.

I don't trust BrickSeek in this regards much. I saw my closest Walmart had 30+ greys this morning before opening so I drove down there and got there a few minutes after opening. The guy at the electronics section said they were all for preorders.

Went to TRU at 7PM for a Wii U copy of Zelda. They sold the last one at 3, but also said they were going to have another "launch" of the Switch tomorrow, first come, first serve.

For those wondering how long they'll have to wait.

I accidentally have another one coming on the 7th. Thought I canceled surplus preorders when my first one shipped but doh.

Need to decide whether to return it or hook someone up, but I guess mostly depends on stock levels whether it's worth it.

Don't tell anyone I toldcha, but the Best Buy I work at is getting a restock tomorrow. About 40 total. 25 grey and the rest color. We open at 11am on Sunday. We are one of the bigger stores, so smaller stores may not have the same level of refresh.

Surprised Nintendo is so quick with the restock.

If your still searching, hope you find one. My first impression is that Nintendo is on it. So just keep looking.

Target's website is never accurate. I called a few that were listed to have it in stock or in limited availability. None of them have the stock.
Yeah, I wouldn't even trust it, personally. That's why it's a "chance" more than anything. I'm not interested in a Switch right now anyway. I might be more interested towards the end of the year, around Mario's launch. Switch units might have more of the kinks worked out by then and Mario is pretty much the only essential Switch-exclusive Nintendo game coming up for me.

As far as Target is concerned, I've had positive experiences with "in-demand" Nintendo products in the past. For example, when their website showed a new shipment of Smash Bros. Rosalina Amiibo to my local store, I went and they DID have it, but were just unboxing it. What a trek that was, in the blizzard conditions and all. But I did get the Amiibo and it was satisfying considering the rarity of that Amiibo at the time. That doesn't lessen my hesitation when considering in-demand products in general. So, even if I wanted a Switch I know it'd be a potential waste of time to check those local stores.

All that said, stock is still available nearby. My brother told me that he found plenty of Switch units at an Amazon Booksore in Dedham, MA. Not every place is sold out. I bet any interested buyers could find a Switch with enough dedication to the search.

I managed to order one off of hhgregg's website earlier today! They were all sold out in my area but i was able to hop on the page before they were gone.

I called my local Target to check their stock levels and they are sold out. They did tell me they are getting a shipment tonight and I should come by when they open because they will be restocked. First come first serve basis starting at 8 a.m.

Sweet, thanks. The Best Buy I would go to is pretty big, I feel (big enough to have a separate premium home theater section, if that gives an indication), so I'll hit that first. Any idea what time I might want to get to the store to get in line? 9/10?

Hope this helps someone else out!

No clue. Chill in your car in the parking lot an Hour to 30m before opening would be my bet. Just ask an opening manager or employee if they got any Switch's in as they walk into the store. If so, then start your own line. Doubt most people know. It's not exactly public knowledge (if you know what I mean. IE don't go publishing this anywhere or anything lol. I like my job), and when people mention it we just play dumb. If your store is as big as you say I imagine they'll have a decent amount of stock though.
