So how bad is the Switch stock situation?

Still absolutely nothing in GA. I looked into some stores about an hour outside Atlanta and still nothing. I'm going to do more searching today at work, trying to look for rural walmarts an shit...

GA is a Switch wasteland. None as far as the eye can see.

I've checked out a couple stores to see their Switch stock in NoVA as I was looking to purchase BotW for Wii U but I can't find a physical copy anywhere. Everywhere I went the stores were out of stock for Wii U, 3DS and Switch hardware. Most of the software selection for Wii U and Switch were also bleak. Nintendo needs to fix their stocking situations.

Checked at the Walmart in Buffalo, NY while I was grocery shopping. No switches, no pro controller, 1 extra set of joy-cons, few other random accessories.

I ordered one from Amazon Spain - 3 day delivery with global express (barring any customs issues) and it came out to $330 which I would have paid at US retailer with tax. If you don't have universal power plugs you'd have to either buy those or a US AC adapter which will run another $20-30. There's also the issue of not knowing exactly how a warranty will function when bought in another region. None of that bothered me, and mine is set to arrive on Monday 3/13.

Edit: There's a comment about it here http://www.nowinstock.net/videogaming/consoles/nintendoswitch/ along with a lot of ongoing conversation about stock etc for anyone who's following it.

I've seen BotW at every store I've been to.
Do you live in the US? Every online store has Zelda.
I'm Dutch. Can't find it online at Bol.com ( our biggest online retailer ), nor at Mediamarkt or any number of other sites ( based in NL ). There's still places where I saw a Switch itself or two for sale, but Zelda is sold out everywhere. So I don't know about the Switch itself, but I can say with reasonable certainty that the launch shipment for Zelda Switch was not sufficient for launch.
Local stores have nothing Switch. No Switch, no games, no accessories, no shelf space reserved for anything Switch. It's as if the Switch hasn't launched yet.
Where do you live? I guess there's always the eShop, that limited space though...
Yeaaaahhhh not gonna fill up my storage day one.
I have Zelda but no Switch ha.

You could sell me yours at cost. Thanks.
Heh. :P

A friend of mine is trying to buy one and it's sold out in our area (PA).

He bought Zelda and a bunch of accessories though. He is just missing the console lol.

In Richmond there are plenty of copies of BotW but nothing in terms of consoles and accessories are pretty limited.

I'm going to Las Vegas and LA in the end of April. Which city has a better chance of having units in stock?

Going April 26, so I'll try to pick it up right before Mario Kart 8 launch.

I'm still seeing a few consoles around online in the uk, last time I checked this morning tesco still had the grey model in stock, they had neon in yesterday and shop to also had a few restocked for an hour or so, amazon uk has been oos for each time I checked.

Switch Pro Controllers are available in Minneapolis with Amazon Prime Now. Bought one last night with the available $10 coupon code.

The Big Apple is all dried up. I've seen a couple at mom & pop shops going for about $1,000. I promised myself I would wait until summer and Nintendo just made that job a lot easier for me.

don't reward resellers. be patient for the greater good.

Feelsbatman, i already agreed to meetup with the seller, i will accept my blame in contributing to the overall problem. Sadly convinience is a big market. And difference in eventual cost was worth cutting the unknown wait and travel, which ironically is part of the journey.

Hopefully the preorder i have from PC richards is fufilled soon and i will sell it to a someone on gaf if possible for retail i guess to even out universally.

I keep checking online stock and it's still sold out. I imagine it's never worth going in since online stock should be accurately reflecting store stock, right?

Heck no. What I've learned is that if a product is hot, the online tools to see if a certain store has stock are worthless.

Seems like the best bet right now is either get lucky when you go to a store (maybe they just got a shipment in or someone returned) or keep an eye on GAF's Buy/Sell thread and pay a little over retail. There were a few yesterday for $350 or so.

Looks like eBay auctions are ending at $100+ retail currently.

from what I read, that's a no. People have reported that BB and Target have had stock on the floor despite online showing "sold out". So as annoying as it may be, it may be worth checking your local stores on occasion.

I stopped by the nintendo store yesturday and they said there not getting anything this week, Don't know if that means maybe sunday they will but them not getting stock probably means stores will be receiving a small amount, granted that has nothing to do with the other but to me the Nintendo store being dry for a while doesn't bode well for many other places. Again could be the complete opposite.

Just bought two Switches off of eBay for my nephews. Managed to find people who were local (less than 25 miles) and were accepting Best Offer. Didn't pay too much of a mark-up on either one. It's worth a try if you're willing to spend a little extra to get one now.

Tempted to buy a Spanish one. There's free shipping for me, and it's only $330 USD.

I'm scared to pull the trigger just because I have plenty of games to play already, and don't want my Switch to sit around. :(

Depending on the store, a product being available online means it's available in the shipping warehouse, not necessarily in the physical brick and mortar and vice versa. I'd hope with the stock situation as bad as it is they've disabled the 'buy and pick up in store' option as I can only imagine that being a headache for everyone involved.

The best bet is to pay attention to circulars as if they advertise the Switch the store is likely going to be holding copies to release when that ad starts. You could also try asking people in the stores if they've heard anything about a restock and hope you get lucky, but I'd advise against being too annoying about it or they're likely to just start telling you 'no' to make you leave them alone.

If anyone wants one PM me. I have an extra that I'm okay with selling at cost + tax + shipping + insurance. I'm about to go return it to Best Buy today. I ordered two just to make sure I got one in time.

They should be arriving over the next couple days for people who ordered them from Amazon.es when it was first discovered over the weekend, so I would bet that if you keep checking the comments in the nowinstock link above that you will see some feedback (positive or negative) that might help you decide.

Edit: Lots of positive reports showing up now actually - people on east coast saying they got it delivered in 2 days from Spain, all documentation etc is available in English, and of course software is region free.

If there are people in the EU that need one, order from Sweden. Our biggest chains such as Elgiganten.se etc has them both in stores as well as online.

I went to gamestop to pick up NieR yesterday, and out of curiousity I asked if any switches were in stock. They told me they had about 3 of them left. Had to resist though, I already have Zelda on Wii U.

Ordered one from Amazon spain. There's no region lock or anything is there? Will it be in english when i get it? (first nintendo console since N64).

Guys,

What's the site to track physical stock?

I'm in Mexico but will travel to El Paso, TX on the 18th. Since the Switch is very expensive here, a buddy of mine wants to get one so I will try to find one for him when I'm there.

Thank you.

Amazon.ca still won't let me pre-order for a second shipment. I'm not putting in more effort than that for it.

Side note the prices resellers are putting up are gross. Who is paying these prices? No one I hope. It's not gonna be out of stock that long...

You'll probably just need to go to the physical store. It seems these tracking tools and the store's website availability are largely inaccurate.

I'm just checking on Amazon.es as some Gaffers recommended and holy shit, if you have a way to ship it to an American address, the final price is somewhere around 6,200 pesos, which is roughly less than buying it in an American store! I might pull the trigger.

For context to Gaffers not from Mexico, the Switch is being sold at 10,000MXN which is something like 530dlls.

There's no region lock, and it's an EU Switch so everything will be available in English. The biggest concern would be having some way to power the console, which would require either a universal power adapter or an AC adapter (both of which would have to be purchased separately). The only other change is that the EU version has a 2 year warranty rather than a 1 year warranty for NA, but it also means you would have to deal with shipping to EU for repair if you need it.

Yeah, I did it. The cost plus shipping ends up being roughly $330. Good deal IMO.

So there shouldn't be a problem with the payment method?

This is a great option! Then you just need to buy the AC adapter in here and you're set! Does it offer free international shipping?

Which side of Atlanta are you looking? I can look where I am if you are on the opposite side.

I agree, though of course the ac adapter or universal plug might throw a bit more on the total if you need power outside of EU. I double checked with my CC company to ensure they would not deny a charge coming from outside US and was told that they don't deny online charges (only local/physical charges), but that's another possibility that might be worth considering if you want to get it here as fast as possible without any delays. I've only seen one complaint of a CC charge delay.

Interesting. I am very tempted to do that, but it said estimated delivery 3/14-3/27 and I was sort of hoping to get it before a trip on the 17th.

If you select global express shipping it should give you a guaranteed date of early next week (unless their stock is running out?)

hmm, that is tempting. Price shows up in Euros for me (in the US). Does it work with prime (guessing not?).
