So how bad is the Switch stock situation?

I'm about ready to just sell my GS credit and open up options.

Is there a recommended/reliable way to do this? I have about $200 in GS credit that is supposed to go towards a Switch but this whole bundle business has me concerned I won't be playing my copy of Zelda for several weeks.

Someone on Reddit is saying Best Buy releases stock tomorrow for unclaimed pre-orders

They released unclaimed stock today. The remainder are "online pre-orders" and those will be held until closing on sunday. I just found this out today.

My auction is now $300 plus shippin with four days left. Glad I didn't waste money at the very least! Hoping we get to $400 so I can afford some of these March games.

You may not have had ill intentions with this post but why did you think coming into a thread where people are talking about desperately wanting to buy a switch and then bragging about how high your ebay auction is shooting up was a good idea? Does this really seem like the place for this?

So the online pre-orders that were sent stores become available Monday?

If the guy behind the customer service counter today is to be believed then yes. He told me "we have one, but its an online pre order and those have a different time frame" When I asked him how long they were holding it he said "Until closing tomorrow" So on that info yes I assume MONDAY at open that particular unit should be for sale. It's worth asking your best buy Customer Service folks if they even have one though as this is a very specific situation lol.

The fact that people are already placing orders on my item is pretty indicative of how bad the stock situation is, no?

C'mon with this man.. we are all well aware that the things are being scalped to high heaven we don't need an update from scalper #3432442234 about how much money they are going to make off their auction. That post was in bad taste, like I said you might not have meant it to be so but it came off that way a little.

Amazon.es is still a good option, guys. You won't pay over retail + typical sales tax, even with the fastest shipping option. It's backordered right now, but has an estimated delivery date of March 22. Don't reward a scalper, you can wait a week and a half.

Their neon stock isn't available for international shipping unfortunately. But yes, you can get a grey in as soon as two weeks.

I ordered a neon from amazon.es 3 or 4 days ago for US delivery.. this "not shipping to the US" thing is very recent. I wonder if I should cancel the neon order and grab a gray..

**EDIT**

Further oddness the gray one says march 17th my neon says delivery by march 22nd. Hmm.

**EDIT**
Just noticed that the NEON on offer is not sold by amazon currently it's a third party, thus the shipping oddness.

Anyone know when the next batch will ship to retailers? Places I'm calling around Eugene are saying mid-April, but I don't really want to wait another month...

I looked today for you guys. No luck. :(

In fact, talking with the manager at Walmart (well, the manager of the electronics department), he said they've only received the initial shipment and haven't received ANYTHING else since then.

Very tempted to order from Amazon Spain but I'm going on a trip in a week and would like to have it before I leave 😩

Do I pull the amazon trigger or try my luck tomorrow?

here in the UK i can't find it anywhere. well tesco had it available for collection for a couple days. amazon is saying nothing until 31st. can only find 1 argos store in the whole of the UK available for pick up.

Looks like all the retail Nintendo shipments this weekend were for 3ds stock and amiibo. I spent about 2 hours hitting up every store in the area Friday and today. This was the experience in my area at least.

I searched one of the military base's stores today, nada, they've been out since day 1 the guy tells me.

But I did find 4 zelda OOT amiibos, so the trip was not toally wasted.

For a new console with 1 title the demand seems insane

today I made some rounds in some gamestops and other gaming stores here in germany and it's like the thing hasn't even released.... a barren wasteland, some scattered zelda and 12 switch copies here and there, otherwise absolutely nothing...

my guess is that nintendo's E3 last year plus the game being a 98 metacritic is driving people crazy.

(edit)

cause this isn't only the nintendo diehard buying this, there's another segment of the videogame market that must have felt compelled to jump in, I can only think of the PS4/X1 hardcore fanbases being aware of that metracritic score.

Continues to be in stock in Finland. Power (retailer) seems to be running out of stock now (only 3 locations left with stock), but Gigantti continues to have them readily available on pretty much all non-Helsinki locations. This is based on the reservation option on their websites.

Online orders are sold out except for VPD, which is charging €30 more than the two retailers I mentioned above. Price tag may turn people off there as €380 is a very high price, best retailers only charge €350.

Seems like Switch isn't really all that big in Finland, nothing like the PS4 that was sold out everywhere for like half a year.

It's now again possible to buy a switch over here in Austria at certain electronics stores. Amazon.de(Germany) is sold out permanently however, the reason is simple you have to preorder to get something, I haven't seen the switch on stock yet, it's always the sign there that tells you to "preorder, shipping once additional units arrive" or something like that. Generally speaking it's pretty hard to impossible to find an online retailer that is selling the switch and that has it in stock now, you'll have better chances checking your local stores instead

Seems like Amazon won't have the system on stock anytime soon, as they seem to have quite the backlog with preorders for their coming shipments.

All in all I guess the switch can be called a success here, so far at least.

Which Amiibo restocks do you remember seeing? Was it just the BotW Zelda ones?

Checked Target and my local military installation. Negative on both fronts. The real interesting piece is neither location has a clue about projected deliveries, like others have said in here. When I asked them about follow on deliveries, they said they've received nothing even when their system says they are inbound.

The electronics section at my Target did have several Joycons and a power adapter. I might just pick that up and go with the Amazon.es plan.

I have to wonder if somehow Sony knew it was going to be a hot product in Germany...

as I went to the gaming stores, I was received by a huge poster in the front door saying "PS+ 3 months free when you purchase any PS4, only in March" like in a desperate attempt to attract people to their console, which is by the way doing amazing here.

The military base dude told me he expects new stock soon, though I think he was just assuming :(

I wouldn't say a $15 promotion is desperate. They've been doing $50 promotions at various retailers in the US consistently.

Hope it works out for you. I got the "call in to check on M/W/F" spiel. Then again, one of my dudes lined up and picked one up on release date outside our Exchange, so the demand was there. I don't know I'd swing one even if they get a new delivery in.

UK here; I just ordered a Neon from a Smyths in Bury to pick up tomorrow. It's about an hours drive from my house but it was the only one available this afternoon. I was using Stock Informer to check the local Argos stores as an odd console or so had been popping up there.

Just checking now and they seem to reckon a TON of Switch consoles are available. So maybe check an Argos near you.

I think I can wait a few weeks....

Seriously, in the Cincinnati area, if it werent for online, I wouldnt believe that Nintendo has put out any console hardware in the past 5+ years. Cant remember the last time I saw a WiiU. Still have never seen an actual Nintendo Classic. And the local Best Buy's, Target's, WalMarts and Meijer's have been stripped clean of pretty much all Switch stuff since launch.

for my amazon.es bros, I have no updates. It still says "expected delivery March 15th" but I haven't received any tracking info. It's been like that for more than 24 hours now.
Same. I have 13th-15th, but it's been preparing for shipment since Thursday I think. Charge still pending. Hoping for some movement soon.

Yeah, after my bank inevitably freezing my card until they called me to verify if I was actually buying something from Spain, my date moved from March 10th to March 15th.

I’ve gotten 0 updates, but in religiously checking the website, I’ve noticed that it shifted from 10th to 15th with a estimated ship date of 13th.

Went to local Best Buy today and its still sold out. They also said they have no idea when it'll be back in stock.

Damn it Nintendo why won't you take my money...

Which Amiibo restocks do you remember seeing? Was it just the BotW Zelda ones?

I saw every variety of BOTW amiibo on sale as well as (oddly enough) a bunch of animal crossing amiibo. Toys R Us stores seemed to have the best stock of amiibo, the targets were kind of sparse as was best buy. Every store had pretty much the same thing though, BOTW, Splatoon and animal crossing.

Amazon.es changed my status to "It Shipped"

But I haven't gotten tracking information and it has been a day. =_=

Same thing here my friend.

Though the actual status on my shipment has updated to "It Shipped"

The Exchange here has been out since day one. Went in maybe 10 minutes after open and all the had left was 1 copy of Zelda and a few copies of Just Dance. No controllers, no cases, no Amiibos for BotW.

Haven't seen any in Targets in the area either. Check when I go in, not really actively looking, but just see games there. Not even any accessories anymore.

Good lick finding one to those looking! Hope you get one soon.

(Edit: Ft Meade/Laurel, MD area)

I posted this in the Canadian Gaming Deals thread but I guess I should put this here as well.

If anyone is in the Brampton/Mississauga, Ontario area the EB Manager at the Bramalea City Centre told me the stores in the area were expecting Switch shipments for Monday morning March 13th.

I obviously cannot confirm this at all but I thought I should share for those looking still. I assume this shipment would also include the GTA as well if it happens and not just Brampton.

Good luck all.

Two separate reps at a local supermarket store relayed that Nintendo said they are releasing 20,000 in additional stock at the end of the month. Does that make any sense? Maybe it's for just that store (edit:chain).

Have we had any official word from Nintendo on stock released so far in the US, and plans for replenishment?

I want to make use of the 3DS trade in deals at GameStop but I think I'm a bit screwed since I can't put the money down on a system until they're actually in stock :/ Bummer unless I can snipe something this week magically.

Gamestop does force bundles, so good luck with that.

You can take advantage of the deals and then pre-order whatever triggers the bonuses and put the remaining balance on a gift card. Then when they are in stock you cancel the pre-order and the full trade in balance is available. If you have games or accessories to trade make sure you pre-order a random switch game to trigger the 40% bonus. Systems don't count towards that bonus unfortunately.
