So how bad is the Switch stock situation?

Not every unit that is available on retail will be listed online. (duh)
In general retailers with a high street presence will need orders of magnitude more stock in retail outlets than they have online.
Think of it this way, if you have 1000 stores shipping 2 units to every store needs 2000 units. Whereas an online retailers can sell single units.

You misunderstood. I am checking the availibilty online, I am not ordering online.

Just went to my local target in North Brunswick NJ and they had 3 Neon Switch consoles

Wow, I just did a google search on that store since I've never heard of it and there are only 3 locations. Do they usually get video game consoles? That's a hell of a lot of stock for what seems like a fairly small video game retailer...

How is this possible. I have been waiting for 7 weeks now for a freaking gray Switch from Gamestop and they have only received two neons in that time period.

They had a huge shareholder meeting at this store, tons of vendors from Samsung, Sony, Apple and others were at here showing off their products. I assume its to inform all the people that fly into the city just for this meeting. Anyways, the Nintendo rep told me they have been holding onto them just for this event, for how long who knows. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, especially not seeing any ever in stores around me. I guess it was just a special day to them.

There seems to be a smathering of Mediamarkt stores in the Netherlands that have the Switch in stock. You can check availability on the website.

My boy who lives in PA has been keeping an eye out for me and scored a Switch for me earlier today. I just was not finding them in NJ.
I will have it tomorrow. Zelda will be here thanks to Amazon 1 Day, Mario Kart the day after, and I plan on downloading Mr Shifty even with the performance issues it supposedly has.
So my question is, what is the overall consensus on best SD card to pick up?
Any other games I absolutely have to have?
Just an FYI, I own all the consoles plus have a PC. I really did pick it up for Zelda and MK8, so when I ask about any other games, I mean games that just once you play them on a Switch you will never consider another platform.
With that said, I know Mr Shifty will be better on PC, I just want another game for my Switch that is not 1st party.
Really my biggest priority right now is the SD Card. I will order it ASAp on Amazon.
TIA,
DL

My friend bought me Mario kart but I still can't find one. Spent a few days in San Antonio and there wasn't any stock anywhere in town. I'm about to give up :(

Friend is looking for one for her kids birthday in a couple of weeks, but just seems to be completely out of stock everywhere (UK). Thought the situation had sorted itself out over here.

Got an alert from istocknow.com today that the local GameStop had them in. I tried calling, but no one answered. Decided to go in and see. They had them but only bundles. Couldn't just buy a console, so I left. I'll wait until I can get one somewhere else or when they're back in stock at Amazon. I get the whole trying to stop scalpers thing, but some people don't need all the added extras in these bundles.

Asked before but never got an answer.

Are the neo standalone joycons a limited edition or something? Greys seem to be readily available but I haven't seen evidence of Neons being restocked ever.

I thought the neon was discontinued?

What gave you that impression? Neon is the more popular SKU so people are choosing that over the gray bundle if they have the opportunity to do so. I remember when I managed to grab the last neon off amazon canada over a week ago, the gray version was actually still available for a while after the neon sold out.

I'm in the greater Seattle area and have had zero luck. Every store just gets a couple in stock and then they're sold out almost instantly. Right now the only thing available are those bloated GameStop bundles which I'm not really interested in.

I'm in South Jersey, did some running around and was just curious if a few stores had it. Besides Gamestop who is selling those bundles which I have absolutely no interest in, everywhere around me are pretty much sold out.

Screw it. I'll just buy the GameStop bundle. I'll see if I can resell the digital games I don't want after.

Edit: Eh I think I might cancel. I don't want to spend so much extra money on games I don't want.

Edit 2: Yep, I cancelled. I'm no one's bundle slave

I'm in Eastern Long Island area, and Switch has been out of stock since it released. A nearby Target has about six 3DS in the case, though.

Thanks to istocknow I finally got a neon switch this morning from Target. Received an alert email from them before I headed out to work. Got there when they opened and had to wait for the sales manager to get the morning shipment from the back. But they got three in. Finally the search is over!

In the UK I cannot find any where I live ,in the stores, online seems just as bad. Cannot see it anywhere unless you want to pay increased price from Amazon sellers.

I give up trying to find another one. I'm not paying $500 on Walmart.com for a non-bundled switch and the GameStop bundles are scummy. Apparently a Walmart 12 miles away has two according to brickseek but they are likely gone.

Just call?

I got mine using Istocknow and actually calling the place when it showed shit in stock.

went to gamestop because they told me earlier in the week they expected a shipment today. i was in line, #15. they had 14 switches,.... left the line as i had to go back to work. cue world's tiniest violin/first world problems, etc

Walked into a Charlotte, NC Best Buy to get Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and as I'm browsing the games (not even in the Nintendo section yet), an employee walks up to me and says "We have Nintendo Switch in the back!".

Just thought it was funny how it highlights the consumer's thirst for the system. At this point they just assume you're there for a Switch!

Okay, here's a question; I'm living in Turkey amd Switch is ridiciliously expensive here despite other consoles being fairly cheap. I'm planning a trip to France this summer and i saved something like 300€ so far to get one these beauties. Is it possible for me to get my hands on the Switch for retail price on France? I'll be staying there for a month and it's like my only chance to get one.

I'm with everyone else on this. If you buy a ridiculous bundle from Gamestop, it just encourages them to pull shit like this on any hard to find item.

I'd like to buy a Switch, but I'll only buy one at retail price (or less). I'm okay with waiting, it just means cheaper software when I eventually get one. It's not like I don't have a ridiculous number of games in my Steam library.

Does anyone know how to bypass Gamestop's expensive shipping rate? After the Switch bundle, I don't want to spend a dime more.

Those prices aren't unreasonable (it looks MSRP for the lot) and two of the bundles don't have questionable accessories, though you can usually beat the $40 retail price on the SD card by ~$15 on Amazon most days.

The shipping however, is ridiculous. Nevertheless, this is an option that gets you a Switch plus games for ~$35 more than you would pay if you could just buy one off the shelf or from somewhere with free shipping.

You'll have to decide if that is a good enough deal.

I just ordered one of the GameStop bundles. If you go into the store and order it, they'll ship it to your house (with value shipping) for free. Up to you to decide whether or not saving $20 is worth the trip.

I managed to order one for my son's birthday from Asda. Immediate delivery. Looks like supermarkets could be the way if you are still struggling in the UK.

We are talking about Nintendo here so...
