So how bad is the Switch stock situation?

I was looking for a Switch since release but they were always sold out here in Germany. I finally managed to order a grey one online and a minute later all were sold out again.

Seems some retailers may get a new batch of neon ones this upcoming week. Really happy I could get the grey one I wanted.

I still see lots on Amazon and E-Bay for sale but all of them for higher than asking price. Which makes me wonder what the ratio of people who do find one at retail price are actually using it.

So how many are available? Hundreds, thousands? You are aware that the Switch sells millions I take it?

I was walking home at around 11 PM last night and passed by the Nintendo NYC Store and there was a huge ass line of people camped out waiting for the Switch which wrapped around the block.

The production so far is still lower than what Sony and Microsoft shipped during the same timeframe is it not? I am just wondering how much of the aftermarket sales are in conjunction with demand.

It's probably more. We won't know for a while as all we have are March numbers (launch month's numbers are always skewed), but we do have Japan's weekly numbers. It looks like Nintendo consistently ships 45k a week to Japan. US is about 3 times larger than Japan, and they probably ship 2-3 times there than what they do to Japan. That would mean somewhere between 360-540k a month to America. Looking at first year sales of PS4 to America after the holiday season, it looks to average about 300k a month, Xbox about just shy of 200k.*

*This is all just a guess and we really won't know for quite some time.

A bit lower than Sony, on par or higher than Microsoft. You have to remember that the Switch had a worldwide simultaneous event while the PS4 has released in Europe 2 weeks after the USA and Japan only got it 3 months later and the Xbox One released on Japan and some European countries only a year later than the USA and the major European countries.

Has been about the same in Sweden (based on the online status of the major online stores). Almost impossible to find any Switch before the MK8 DX release, then stock appeared at MK8 DX release, but sold out right away. Grey Switch has been out of stock since since about 3 days after that release date, but now there seems to be a fairly steady supply of neon Switch.

Got one in Germany yesterday. Neon of course. I had called them earlier checking for stock, still about 5 left when I got there. No pro controllers anywhere though.
Got a pair of extra joycons, left one is faulty, so I will try to exchange it tomorrow.

Have one ordered amazon.de since end of April. Guess bad timing due to MarioKart, but oh well. Would be able to use it at the end of June anyway so I hope I will be able to get one till then.

Anyone have any hot tips for finding neon joycons? I seriously can't find them anywhere for MSRP. I need to have 2 pairs for ARMS, and I refuse to buy grey.

If you have any local game shops around I'd check those, I went to one a few days ago that had 1 in stock and got them @ MSRP

Why doesn't Amazon.it can't give them to Amazon.fr, it's consistently sold out since April here. Regular 3rd party sellers (scalper) have been hovering at 400€ since.
Of course on Amazon.it says they don't ship to France.
Because that's not how it works. Hell, I bet most of the scalpers get their units from Italy or other continental markets. Every retailer I visited when I was visiting in back in April Greece had about a dozen switch consoles on display and about half a dozen NES Minis.

Unsurprisingly, I then looked at NES Mini scalpers on eBay and most of the listings were in fact from Greece.

Both good points, April numbers should be out soon so it's going to be interesting to see how much Nintendo has adjusted.

Guess we can now rule out for certain on Switch becoming a Wii U failure.
Never saw pics of people in line/camping/sleeping 2-3 months after Wii U's launch. But honestly the Switch is a fantastic designed console i would do the same if i did not own one yet.

Are you sure they are there for Nintendo NYC? People camp there for the Today show too when there's a big star on. Looks like they might have spent the weekend. Who is scheduled for the Today show tomorrow morning and are they doing anything in the Plaza?

For all we know majority of these people are paid by Nintendo to create hype or scalpers

I just got back to NYC after studying abroad the past 4 months and I was really expecting there to be more switches available by now.

One of the videogame stores around here is selling it marked up at $450, and now I see this picture of these people camping in front of the nintendo store. Looks like it might be a while for me.

I've seen 1 in the wild so far. The guy was waiting for a saleperson to get it out of the case.

I actually saw someone playing one sitting right in front of me on the plane a few weeks ago. I watched him play Mario Kart for a few hours, and then had to avert my eyes when he switched to Zelda.

Wow, what's with the pile on? I used to work in that area and people camped out there all the time for the Today show. I've actually seen it like that when celebrities like Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato are going to be performing. Not everything is about Nintendo.

If people are camped outside of the NINTENDO STORE it's probably about Nintendo.
