So how bad is the Switch stock situation?

The UK and Ireland are also switch dry right now. Supposed to get stock in this month, but hardly any have shown up.

If it's any help, I bought a neon Switch via Tesco Direct (I had a big clearout/ebay of some old games and some clubcard points, so why not?).

At the time, I was told my console would arrive around 10th July, however I received an email saying the delivery date had been brought forward to 30th June, so I would expect the next UK shipment around the very end of the month.

Holy shit, what a morning.

Last night on iStock I saw the nearby Target stock some units, so I wanted to try the early morning.

I show up before they opened, and there's one lady already there. Okay, no big deal. Turns out she had a friend wandering around the shopping center, though, so that's two.

Another guy shows up, still another half hour to go before opening. He looks like he could be a GAFfer, just there trying to get one like me. I hope they have them...

Then the original lady is joined by FOUR more people, all of them trying to gently assert themselves ahead of us in this non existent line. I'm like 99% sure this is a group of scalpers.

So the doors open and we calmly make a dash for the electronics counter. As I cut through the children's section to get ahead, I see someone in the corner of my eye Anime Running down the central path, so we all start running.

I made it to the counter first, but ended up fourth in line after we found where to actually line up. I've never had to make a Black Friday style mad dash like that, not even for a launch PS2. And the scalpers are definitely out there, getting most of the stock in this case.
Did you snag one?

I'd rather pay extra 100 on Amazon than give money to gamestop with their shitty bundling policy. In store they literally say that nintendo won't have any units for four months so it's great idea to buy those bundles...

Still that $449 Zelda+Pro Controller bundle makes some sense money wise. I mean there is some saving there even if up front you are paying 150$ more than needed.
Is the Pro Controller required? I am thinking about pre-ordering it. Sigh.

It's not required, you can play the game with the two joycons just fine.

It's a damn good controller though.

I fortunately have my own, but my buddys been looking for one for a while now and he says he doesn't want pre owned and is real weird about buying online, so trying to find one on the high street is a nightmare.

I bought a Switch last Monday at Best Buy at Columbia, SC. I wanted a black version but was told(by someone at another location) that they didn't have that version. When I got there, they had two black Switch's and about six blue/red. Plenty in stock.

How about eBay in US? Some sellers have it in stock at $399. Why no one buys from there?
I'm not sure if you are being serious. Buying from flippers supports and perpetuates the flipping market. If idiots would stop buying from flippers, the practice of flipping would go away. That goes for concert tickets, theater tickets, sports tickets, video game limited editions, etc., etc., etc. People need to stop buying stuff from flippers.

Ordered an Arms bundle from GS. It comes with a memory card (64 gig) but I was wondering if you guys had any other larger suggestions? Also, does the thing need a screen protector? Recommendation?

Europe is ONE country actually. You can buy the switch from any online store at the same price with no additional expedition cost. Just go on amazon.it/fr/de etc and buy it.

I'd get something for the screen, it's pretty high gloss and susceptible to scratching as it seems to be plastic. It's still pretty nice though from what little time I've had with my friend's.

Wonder if they'll ever do a glass redesign.

If you're going completely digital, 128gb or more would be ideal.
Otherwise, I think the 64gb should suffice.

Did you get one or did the scalpers bought all of them?

I did manage to rush into the line at the electronics counter after the doors opened. Some of the scalpers did leave empty handed. If I had not made it in that line, I wouldn't have gotten one. I would have been pissed.

Had to go to Nintendo World(I am fortunate enough to be in NYC) to get mine, they had quite a lot. I mean I know it's a given since it is Nintendo World and all but still XD.

I did see my gamestop around my neighborhood had boxes of Nintendo Switches on display but I didn't ask if they were in stock or not.

I set up an istocknow notification a few days ago, and it ended up paying off. When I woke up this morning, there was an alert for my local Target. When I called the electronics department, the person there said they didn't have any, but when I told her I had gotten an inventory alert, she told me she'd have someone check in the back, and to call back in 5 minutes. It ended up they had gotten two in, and they were still there when I got there.

Does Nintendo world still have stock? When did you get it?

This is so fucked. I would have told them to get in line if they show up after. Fuck that. Holy shit my blood is boiling just thinking of that.

I wonder how crazy the scalping pricing is going to be around Christmas time. If they are already going for 100 dollar markup in June?

Responded to the PM but in case others are able to make the trip to Nintendo World.....I went 8 days ago, on Saturday 6/10 around noonish. I would absolutely call them before treking out, when they picked up the phone they said they had plenty. Saw they had about a couple of drawers of the bad boys so I don't know if they are crippled with a lack of stock. The line I was on had a couple of people buy before me.

300+ dollars(Taxes), no bundle or anything attached. I don't usually go out to Nintendo Store but when all else fails, you have to go out there and get the bad boy. Last time I went outside of Pokemon Sun/Moon was to get Fire Emblem: Awakening on launch since that was a difficult title to obtain physically.

128gb is the sweet spot. Get a Sandisk or a Samsung.

Yeah, I'm not super big on digital but I might go with the 128 just in case there's a lot of map packs or they pull a fatal frame deal where the entire game is download only. Thanks for the answers.

Cool, I'll look into that too. Appreciate it.

People are still scalping? Units sell for less than $40 over msrp on craigslist.

Scalpers know it's hard to find and hope they can get more if they're patient enough. But it seems like the scalping market is much less lucrative now, since it's not the holiday and people finally showed some patience and willpower to get one the old-fashioned way. Scalpers have to turn a profit sometime, so they do what they can to still turn a profit from their effort.

I hope that Nintendo floods the market for these in November as a way to tell scalpers to get stuffed.

I got this screen protector off Amazon. Comes with two sets and the application is super easy.

The hope is Nintendo will have a lot more Switch stock to distribute for the holidays.

Of course, the demand is only going to increase during that time, so who knows what will happen.

But still, it's kinda crazy to think that the thing could still be in huge demand even though it launched all the way back in March.

Nintendo's really doing some folks a favor with this horrible stock situation. I'm not tempted to impulsively buy one when they're only sold by scalpers. By the time they're readily available there will probably be a new and improved version of the console

In New Jersey, I've not seen one outside launch day. I don't frequent stores but take a look every two weeks or so while out.

which county do you live at?

At the toms rivers near me there are none.

I go to the one in Howell they have like 5 or 6

I go to target and best buy they have like 3 or 4

It's so wild reading these stories. When I visited Tokyo I picked up two at Labi and took them home like it was nothing.

Likewise in Australia there's stock in all the major chains, no big deal. It's a bit too expensive here to be flying of the shelves though.

Is there a general over view of places where stock is severely limited vs places that have no issues?

Now this is hard to believe as they are doing to get a Switch cause stock sells out so quickly in Japan.

This is believable.

As far as where stock is scarce and where it's plentiful. NA, Japan, and France seem to be perpetually scarce from what's known. UK and Germany are sometimes scarce. Everywhere else is not enough data.

Which one? Sandhill? Two Notch? Lexington? Harbison? I'm not really looking for one as I got mine in April, but I enjoy trying to still spot them in the wild. I rarely see them sitting on shelves, but the accessories are far more plentiful than they used to be.

Spent a week in the LA area for e3, tried to buy a Switch on multiple gamestops. All I've been told is that gamestop has no stock of it in California.
