So how would I find a Switch for someone? My date tonight asked and I wasn't sure how to answer. Are there stock sites like in the Wii days?

istocknow helped me find a switch insanely fast when I decided I needed to get one. Just use the map and set up notifications.
Curious, do any of you own two Switches for personal use?
Went to Walmart today and saw 10 in the glass case. Doesn't seem to be an issue here in nor cal.
I haven't used tracking websites since I was looking for a Wii! I know they still exist though because folks are still using them for Aim Controller tracking. How can you see if there are switch near by ur walmarT?
I saw 4 in stock at Target today, 2 in stock at a different Target location earlier this week. Are things finally calming down?
Just checked amazon.de and for the first time since launch the grey console is actually in stock (also the neon one but that was easier to get at amazon anyway). These increased shipments seem to be a worldwide thing.
Lots of retailers are basing this on Nintendo UK's own estimates. There's no guarantee this will happen. They might just update to early September when it doesn't come in.My Switch got delivered today whilst i am at work from last weeks amazon stock, cant wait to check it out later
Think i saw the neon ones instockk 15th aug on amazon UK?
For all gaf spaniards out there, amazon spain has got hold of the neon version after almost two months -> https://www.amazon.es/Nintendo-Switch-Consola-color-Azul/dp/B01N5OPMJW/ref=zg_bs_videogames_15?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=DDZE2SCSKCA1690ZE4BM

GameStop has announced that all of its US retail locations will have Nintendos Switch console available in stores this week. Now, when I say this week, the on-sale will begin as early as tomorrow, August 15th, when your local GameStop opens, and I cant imagine this restock lasting very long. Other stores will put the units they receive on sale Wednesday.
Heres the good news: youll be able to purchase the Switch all by itself, so dont worry about having to spend extra money on a bundle that might include items you dont even really want.
Called GameStop around here(Fort Washington, Maryland) since stores are suppose to be receiving there Switches, but two of the stores did not have it nor could they reserve one for me. I hope I can get one this year for the Holiday at least![]()
Supply seems clearly up... Curious about sales this month
anyone have the monthly sales in thus far handy?
I'm sure Nintendo will be cranking out a good number for the holiday season. But, demand will also skyrocket after Thanksgiving and Mario Mario comes out. So, yeah, stay vigilant now.
Still have yet to see one. Southern California.

I know the Switch is a different beast, but I remember the summer there were so many non-XL New 3DSs on shelves I figured I'd get one for the holidays...

They stopped production of that and didn't ship new units anymore, they aren't stopping production of Switch anytime soon.
They were sold out at many retailers for the first few months, and I believe Nedgame only met demand at the end of June or thereabouts. They're plenty here in The Netherlands, pretty much every toystore and electronic store has them up for sale, online retailers also have them up for sale. Never saw any shortage here strangely enough.
You coudn't find any 3DS or 2DS last holiday season. They were completely selling out, and going for pretty crazy prices on ebay.
Here's a Polygon article about it. It was pretty crazy, and lasted a good while.
As said, production had ended and they only shipped the remaining stock to North America.

Only in Q4 they shipped a meaningful (i.e. meaningful compared to previous quarters) amount to the US, and even then it barely amounted to a quarter of the total 3DS & 2DS shipments in that period.
The situation isn't comparable at all. Here you have a system which continues to be in production and receives large shipments every month, there you have a system which is no longer produced and which only received a final shipment (which is similar in size to what the Switch had shipped in July - a single month).
Just as with the NES Mini - what isn't produced anymore, can't be found in shops and rises in price if demand is still there.
I'm saying it wasn't just the New 3DS, which is what that graph is showing. It was ANY 3DS or 2DS. Every model was sold out.
Lol was pretty much sold out everywhere until recently. Shipments have increased for sure. They're plenty here in The Netherlands, pretty much every toystore and electronic store has them up for sale, online retailers also have them up for sale. Never saw any shortage here strangely enough.
Ah ok, wasn't what me and the other person were talking about, as he specifically mentioned the non-XL version.
I believe that was the "Pokémon Go effect" that fueled those shortages, in order for people to play pokémon sun/moon.Yeah, it was crazier than just one model. I don't know what caused it, or if it will happen again this year. For whatever reason, everyone wanted a 3DS last year. It honestly seemed like it was only a few months ago when I regularly started seeing them on shelves again. So, if that is anything to go by, Switch might be insane this holiday.
Nintendo has done a pretty good job of having a steady flow of good to great games coming. By holiday, new owners will have Mario Kart, Zelda, Arms, Splatoon 2, Mario + Rabbids, Mario Mario, Fire Emblem Warriors, and supposedly Xenoblade. Then of course there are the digital releases like Minecraft, Rocket League, and Sonic Mania. It's hard to guess what will catch fire every holiday season, but Switch seems like a pretty safe bet this year.
