So, how did NARC turn out?

I trust all the "Games must become cheaper!" whores around here went out and bought their copy of this first-run $20 title, riiiiight? Got to support the cause ;)

Did anyone pick it up....and how is it?

So far I think only IGN has posted a review. The score is not so great, but the guy makes a good case for it....

NARC is pornography and peanut butter cup ice cream. NARC is a morning of hooky followed by a nap set to the mellow PBS droning of Draw Along with Paul Ringler. It's a last minute cancellation of a hot date just to make more room for bloody Farscape reruns.

NARC is decent enough. I didn't get very far into it, though; it's not very compelling, and DKJB and Lumines demand my attention.

I mostly found taking drugs amusing, especially when thinking about the "Winners Don't Do Drugs!" message that appeared on all Midway arcade games back in the day.

Played it for a little while tonight. Plays similarly to Max Payne. Cliched story line. Awesome soundtrack including two from Curtis Mayfield from the movie Superfly, Sugar Hill Gang, Cypress Hill, The Stranglers, etc. And, hell, the original arcade Narc is included as an unlockable. Not exactly stellar but definitely worth the $20 if you like crime games. Not to mention, it's the only game I can think of at the moment that allows your character to take all sorts of drugs. :)

Oh yeah, almost forgot...

“I’ve gotten to know quite a few video games over the last few months, but this may be the worst I’ve seen,” said Gov. Blagojevich. “When kids play NARC, they spend their free time pretending to be drug addicts and learning how to hurt people. Right now, children can easily get their hands on NARC, and other games just like it. The Safe Games legislation would give parents the tools they need to protect their children from games like NARC, and I strongly urge the Senate to help turn this common sense bill into law.”
