Hello, GAF. It's your routine shitposter Kira here. Last Monday, I woke up and did my business. Immediately saw that my stream was like a fantastical Hawaian Punch fountain. Was reasonably freaked, but also tired, so I went back to sleep. Woke up, and it happened again. Went to the ER, gave them a urine sample. They tested it. There was indeed blood in it, it was now a translucent orange color. Tests came back and there was no infections. The ER doctor on call told me that it could be a litany of things, but the fact that it presented without pain was concerning because it's one of the symptoms of bladder cancer.
Full disclosure, I'm a 31 year old male, who's used tobacco products for roughly 12 years. Currently smoke between a half pack to a pack a day. My research (you should never do research) has said that heavy smokers make up 50% of bladder cancer patients. But hematuria (blood in the urine) is only indicative of cancer in 10% of people who seek medical attention for it. I have TERRIBLE drinking habits, in so far as for the past two years I have drank exclusively Gold Peak sweet tea. I've in the past week switched to primarily Gatorade and tap water.
The hematuria went away after that single day, but in it's place is a pressure on my groin, constantly, a tingling when I urinate, and a feeling like my bladder isn't emptying. I used to drink whiskey pretty heavily, and was into some hard drugs for about two years, if it's relevant.
Regardless, I have a urologist appointment the Tuesday after next, but the OCD in me is terrified that I'm gonna be told bad news. I know bladder cancer is manageable, and you don't even need a bladder to live (with certain precautions taken before hand) but MAN. I finally got my life in order and reached a place where I'm happy day to day, and I'm being overdramatic but I can't keep my head cool with this stuff. I'm hoping it's just a kidney stone or infection or SOMETHING manageable. Kidney diseases runs in my family, and I'd be straight up overjoyed if this was something that was a "take a pill and drink some water, and you're good," thing.
Advice? Personal anecdotes? Anything? Thanks in advance. This shit sucks.
