I was very unimpressed. It's not that I think the 360 sucks, but the results of what this game shows is totally unacceptable to me. Especially for a console that costs $300-400. I hope no one here is willing to fork over $50+ for this game if you buy a 360.

This game in itself could easily pass for being a part of the PS2/XBox gen. That's basically what it is. The models for the most part are fairly impressive; however, the textures are so very bland that it completely takes away from the overall look of the game. To begin with, the textures are extremely undetailed. And on top of that, they mipmap it to death. I've seen better texturing on the PS2 and XBox at lower resolutions. I also notice a lack of AA for a game that needs it very much.

What I don't understand is why the textures are extremely undetailed to begin with, but then also mipmapped to death. There should be NO NEED for that on the XBox 360, considering the hardware specs. For a console that costs $300-400 this is unacceptable IMO. MS needs to get a playable PGR3 demo on the 360 and into stores, and soon.

Is this for real? Or are you just on a 360 bashing mood?
Supposedly the game looks just like the pc version, which definately looks much better than current xbox and ps2 games.

I'm not in a 360 bashing mood, nor did I know the demos were pre-E3. The console launch is very soon; MS should definitely get a newer CoD2 demo to the stores if it's been so greatly improved.

Nope. CoD2 360 is not CoD2 this gen. It's a different game.

360 is having it's own version? It unacceptably look like a port and Activision is publishing ports on the 360 --- like Americain Wasteland.

If someone can really confirm it's not a port, fine. But let me tell you i got a pretty damn goof idea how they did devellop this 360 game...

While this thread is such an obvious flamebait, I must say that having played today Perfect Dark, COD2, PGR3 and Kameo that it still isn't "feeling next gen". Lighting and shader effects and occasionally texturing are cool, but the low geometry counts and the UNFORGIVABLE ALIASING are big disappointments.

Still, I'm really excited to get to buy COD2 and PDZ, both played really good. The PGR3 build I got to play was nothing short of awful. I managed to reset the device and it had the XDK launcher which allowed booting of two different versions of the game, I'm guessing the "framerate version" and the "screenshot version".

You heard about "upgraded present gen ports"?
You just played one.
there is no way COD2 is a upgraded port, it chugs on high end PC's and its runnin at a smooth 60fps on the 360. the intensity of the game blows me away

No lean.

PC wins.

CoD2 for X360 isn't a port. But it is held back by existing techology (I.E. having to run decently on current PCs too).

Is your idea developping in parallel to current-gen titles? Because if not, you're wrong. It is, however, the same game as the PC CoD2.

Call of Duty 2 for the PC and Xbox 360 is a different game than Call of Duty 2: Big Red One for PS2, Xbox, GC.
