So, I'm selling all my consoles...

I've decided tonight that I'm going to sell my whole gaming collection. I talk about games more than I play them now and it's becoming a pointless addiction. :( I buy games and play them for a few hours and then I don't have time to play until I have to make time and that's usually when a new game comes out so I don't even play the old game and it's a fucking endless dirty cycle. I have every system except the PSP since the NES and way too many games. I used to just splurge on used games at EB and I've never bothered to count and much less play most of them. Where do you think I could get the most money? On Ebay or at a B&M store? Should I sell them as a package or individually? I definitely have some classics and rare games that I will be selling individually to make the most profit, but I'm talking about your run of the mill batch of decent games.

BTW, I basically have more PS and N64 gen games than anything else. God those fuckers accumulated fast.
Has anyone else ever decided to do this sad sad thing?

*cry*

You must not recall my many system-selling exploits.

At some point you do need to start clean, with a better understanding of how wrong your hobby can go. From that point you can learn to sorta not buy a gajillion games and just enjoy the ones you have already.

I once traded in a collection so large the EB computer crashed. It was good times

More power to you.

I'll never understand those that actually feel like they're braking some sort of loyalty by not being interested in videogames anymore.

Usually you're best bed to do small sets of them, and put some of the crap in with the gems because people are willing to spend way much money just for the Gems, and it assures that you can get rid of your crappy games.

Unless you gotta pay for something really important then pass on this. you definitely will regret this man... some of us know what we're talkin about

Funny, i was thinking about doing this last week. The money would be used to get a better camera, some related gear, a new car, and whatevers left would be stashed aside. Basically it would mean me potentially living my life a lot closer to the way i want to. It's tempting, because i'm sure as hell not playing any of these games anymore.

:lol Nah, maybe in a year or so I'll decide to go for it again. But until I have the time to actually play my games, I'd rather not burn my money.

Thanks for the advice. :D I guess I'll probably count my gems, and then count my crappy games and divide. that way I know how many crappy games to pack with a gem. haha

I'll take some psone games

R-type Delta
Bust a Groove 1 & 2

Rage Racer

I've got you covered on those. PM me if you're serious.

Since Demi and Wobedraggled asked, I'll make a list tomorrow and post them here and it'll be first come first serve according to the time stamps on my PM's.

Have any dreamcast games?
Yep, time to bust that sucker out and see what I have though.

I splurged on games, accessories and the system after the DC died :( I took advantage

Awesome! I look forward to seeing the list.

Prices too, or just 'make me an offer'?

I think your best bet is to sell me your saturn and DC games on the cheap..

But if you don't want to do that, you'd probably get the most money by selling them directly to people on a forum. No ebay fees, no having to either lot your games and not get much money or have an auction for each which would take forever, no eb games rape..

Umm, actually I didn't think about that :X I'll see tomorrow, for the rare games I'll probably end up looking at ebay and other sources for average prices. But other than the rarites, it'll be just make me an offer and as long as it's not ridiculously low i'll probably take it.

Dude PM to me or AIM me, let me pick through the list first. Fuck that public shit.

Just learn self control.

Only buy games at release that are like the top of their class. Like Zelda, RE4, etc. Whatever you're favorites are.

For everything else, wait for it to be $20 or less. Only buy great games (typically > 85% on gamerankings). For example, you could have bought all the ratchet games for $40/ea. Or gotten them for < $20 each. I've got like 20 consoles games from this gen, but I didn't pay more than $500 I think.

DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT SELL YOUR GAMES.

you'll end up regretting it, and you'll miss the opportunity to share it all with your kids one day (assuming you're down with having kids some day).

i tell you, the first time i see my son / daughter play an nes is gonna be great.

Got any Sonic games with Boxes, manuals and in good condition? Any console, any type [classics, platinum etc]

I thought about it a few times, and even lost a few games as a result. Even if I didn't like the game or if I didn't play it in a while, I regretted letting it go. Like those Dreamcast titles I probably won't find again. Don't let that sort of thing happen to you, or you'll be selling your memories for what may be a rockbottom price. Unless you're short on cash at an inopportune moment, it won't at all be worth it.

Sell it all...get out of the money pit. Something like GameFly is much better for people like you. I was just like you...spent money all the time on games that i never finished...building a collection turned into a bigger priority to me than the games themselves.

Sold all of my games a few times only to all back into the sickness...Finally beat the urge to buy every friggin game that came out. I currently have 2 xboxes with a couple games each on ebay. The games were cheap when i got them on sale from gamefly. Much cheaper than storee prices and still got to play them as long as I wanted.

I will be getting a 360, but not with the money I get from the stuff I am selling...it will be spent way before x360 comes out.

sale sale sale

Trust me, man... There are games I wish I had never parted with, 'cuz chances are slim I'll ever get them again without paying an arm and a leg.

I have a daughter and she loves games. This thought has definitely come to my mind before. I think I'm going to keep my systems that have no BC, including my Nintendo ones despite the Rev. I'll just get rid of my ps, psone, ps2, xbox and gc I guess. Especially considering all the PM's I've received and I've yet to see a request for a system. Besides, there are a few games that I know I will love to play at some point again. Like the original Phantasy Stars (the first rpg I ever played was PSIII <3) But there are games that people love that I just bought because they were rare. Those will go up for sale. I'll also need to do some research and I'll be posting suggestive prices with them. And Rlan, i have every sonic game =D. MAF, I sent you a PM regarding your request. haha Demi, if you're really interested in anything, PM me, I might have something you're missing although AFAIK you have a shitload of games. And it's not that I don't have self control over what I buy. I do have an obsession with collecting all of a certain series, etc. But it's nowhere near financially harmful. My problem is this, I bought GTA:SA, got to SF and then I started playing KOTOR and never went back to GTA, then I bought RE4, never went back to KOTOR etc. (Althought I actually did finish KOTOR eventually :D ) But that's what happens most of the time and i just came to the conclusion that I don't have time for gaming. I have a wife and a child that require 99 percent of my free time. I also work 2 jobs so that sucks up more time. And like I said, I own games that I don't give a shit about but other people love them. Those will end up in the hands of someone on GAF or on ebay. I'll keep games that were truly memorable to me in case I ever do decide to really get back into gaming. Anyways, tomorrow a list will be put up with what's for sale and for how much. Like I said, it's first come, first served unless I get one offer, and then a few minutes later, I get an offer with a substantially higher price.

Hito: Dont embrace the maddness, remember me? It wasnt pretty. My current PS2 list is pretty sensible these days.

Tho I will say to Demi's credit, he doesnt buy a lot of shitty games.

I'm trying to get rid of my Saturn and 3DO, but nobody's taking it!

And I'm gonna try and pawn off some of these more shittier N64 titles, keep more of the major hits.

How much did you make by selling that, MAF?
