And some of those aren't released here yet. I agree with that list. But add Mario Tennis.

Great idea! I'll hit up a gamerush today. Forgot about their buy 2 get 1 free. I'll also check Frys to see if they're still doing 3 for $40. I can get Sunshine, Metroid, and Rogue Leader or maybe Pikmin.

I believe that the 3 for $40 deal is good until November 30, so feel free to go crazy.

There should be no multiplatform games on the PS2 you get over the Cube and Xbox versions.

Except for Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2. The Xbox and GC versions of the game were handled by a different developer, and neither's as good as the PS2 version. ;) You're mostly right, but Eggo had the right idea by asking--occasionally, there are multiplatform titles that turn out better on the weaker system, for whatever weird reason.

1) I want to pick up Luigi's Mansion, but the $20 asking price seems a bit steep for a game that should be readily available now. Anyone know where I can get this game for $10 or less? I don't care if it's used, but I do like the game and wish to own it. I'm in California btw.

Never seen it for more than 14 bucks used, so 10 is not out of the question

3) Are Four Swords or Wario Ware Inc. worth playing single player?

No, and I love both games.

4) For multi-platform games, I always buy Xbox. But in the case of a game like Alien Hominid, which so far is only PS2 and NGC only, am I correct in assuming the NGC rev will most likely be the better version? Are there any games that are better on PS2 than NGC or should I always stick with NGC if given a choice over PS2?

I'd say GCN over PS2, unless you're someone who covets the dual shock.

5) I get motion sickness playing FPS games with a low frame-rate. Does Metroid 1 or 2 run at a smooth 60 fps at all times? Have you heard of anyone getting sick playing either game?

I've have friends that get motion sickness from Prime and yet as far as I can tell, it has a great framerate. Perhaps some people get sick from the static nature of the HUD combined with the movement.

6) What other titles would you recommend I look into? I don't want lists of 50 GC games that I "have to" play. Just three suggestions please. I have a lot of friends who have GC games, so I should be able to borrow and play almost anything out there, even the obscure stuff, but no imports as this is an NTSC cube. Favorite genres include: action adventure, RPG, platformer, shooter, and puzzle. I am not interested in Final Fantasy:CC (don't plan to have 3 friends around who want to play that now) nor F-Zero. Thanks in advance![/QUOTE]

I'd actually argue that FF:CC is much better single player than Zelda Four Swords, but if you have no interest anyway don't bother. Wario World and Billy Hatcher should be at clearance type prices now. Have you had a chance to try out Donkey Konga?

Man, I just came back from a day of shopping with nothing. I was in Game Rush with MGS: TS and Eternal Darkness in hand, but I couldn't find a third game worth buying. The closest was Starfox, but I just couldn't pull the trigger on that. I drove by Frys (Manhattan Beach) and the parking lot was such a traffic jam that cars were parked in the street just trying to get into the lot. I passed on that nightmare.

On a side note, Blockbuster video is doing a "Buy 3 for $25" on previously viewed DVD's. This is a Thanksgiving special for any interested. I also saw CompUSA selling The Sims Urbz on Nintendo DS for $50! Geez... I thought rape was illegal, but CompUSA apparently doesn't think so.

Get Resident Evil Remake. That's a great one until RE4 comes out.

If you want to make the Gamecube your 'party' console, multiplayer and all then I suggest picking up the monkeyball games and Mario Tennis as well. Beach Spikers is cheap and fun also.

Metroid Prime is a solid 60fps and the natural and varied enviroments seem to reduce the motion sickness feeling. I only get it after long extended periods with games, but Metroid bugs me less than the others due to a lack of repeating textures and designs.

Make sure you get rogue leader and not rebel strike!

damn it, how did I leave out Beach Spikers, Mario Kart DD, F-Zero GX, and Mario Tennis?

Pikmin 2, Paper Mario, Mario Tennis and Metroid Prime 2 echoes are all great games. The SUper Monkey Ball ames get alot of play-time. Shit, I'm having more fun with my GameCube than my Ps2.

Eggo, my recommendations:

PC games (Thanks crimson, I didn't know about this- it DOES work on PS2/Xbox games, right?):

Super Monkey Ball
Super Monkey Ball 2
Viewtiful Joe
Pikmin
Luigi's Mansion
Star Wars Rogue Squadron II Rogue Leader
Super Mario Sunshine
Mario Golf

$40-$50 games:

Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (might not be as fun if you have played the PSX version already)
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure (really only great with multi [2 or more- doesn't have to be four] I think EB has this for $30 this week, which is the most I'd pay for it on just single player. Comes with a GC-GBA link)
Pikmin 2 (My favorite game so far this year. Highly recommended)
Metroid Prime 2 Echoes (skip the first and go straight to this [all IMO, of course. I found this game so far to be fun while I found the first one very boring])

Other titles:

Skies of Arcadia Legends (classic on the DC upgraded on the GC. Can be found for around $20)
Eternal Darkness (can be found for $15 and under)

I just recently ended like a 7 month GC game buying drought with a purchase of metroid prime 2 and it's been worth it (fun and much more challenging than the original - still a few things I wish the game had but overall a pretty good experience). I don't think you'll get motion sickness from it since you say it's low framerates that give you motion sickness - the game seems locked at a constant fps to me (I hear it's 60 but I'm playing it on a pretty low quality tv so I really couldn't tell the difference between 30 and 60 on it).

For reference, here's my collection of games (some of them I should probably trade in): Skies of Arcadia Legends, Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2, Wind Waker, the OOT/master quest disc, zelda collection disc, f-zero GX (love this game in single player), mario kart DD, PSO 1&2, REmake, Viewtiful Joe, Beyond Good and Evil (seemed like the best version of it to get). I think that's it, there may be another game or two I forgot about. I used to have some others like Animal Crossing and Eternal Darkness, but I traded them in to get my GB player (which I use tons, it's let me play some of the GBA games that can be longer/more involved like fire emblem, mario and luigi, and the advance wars games). AC is a game I think you'll wind up wanting to trade in when you're done with it, it's just a game that when you get tired of it, you really feel no desire to play it anymore, ever. F-Zero GX is so worth getting if you want a good racer. IMO it's one of the best racers this gen, just tons of fun for me to play it (a lot of that is the custom vehicles aspect of it).

If you like multi you would be stupid to pass Mario Party 5 and Mario Kart

Rebel Strike has the coop + multiplayer and some nice single player moments. Too cheap to pass IMO. :D

Yes but single player

Rouge Leader >>>>>> Rebel Strike

What the fuck were factor five smoking when play testing those crappy on foot levels. Not a trace of fun to be found anywhere!

Rouge leader also has all the good battles from the movies!

Death Star 1 (both Imperial and Rebeal)
Battle for Hoth
Attack on the Imperial fleet
Attack on the Death Star 2

Also that awesome attack on the star destroyer!

Don't feel bad. I actually plan on selling mine, but I still got two games last week. FZero GX and Viewtiful Joe. Both rock and both are highly recommended. PEACE.

Yeah I guess I shouldn't have said all games. I guess there are a few games that for some reason are better on the PS2. Mega Man Anniversary Collection had all the problems on the Cube version but that version has still outsold the PS2 version so I don't think people really cared. :lol

And it looks like all the games that you need for the system have already been mentioned in this thread so I don't need to recommend anymore.....now you just need to find out which ones you want first.
