So TGS is this weekend!!!!

why isn't Square showing off more of FFXII @ TGS?

christ... what in the world... @_@

Because they've lost the ball, nowadays their main concern is not making great RPGs but to make profits by milking their franchises, abusing of their fans love and patience and to expand in new stupid markets (mobiles).

I've looked forward to FFXII for so long now that I'm not looking forward to it anymore. I mean yeah, I'll probably reveal my complete FF fanboy self along the time of the U.S. release but for now I honestly just don't think about it much.

It's just such a bold contrast. Previous FF's have been hyped and marketed very well, with tidbits & screens coming at steady paces and deadlines being hit on the spot. With FFXII, they have been releasing little to no new info/pics since the initial massive 'unveiling' in '03... not to mention a release date that (by the time of the game's mid March '06 Japanese release) will be about a good two years later than originally planned.

Now they are missing out on a major event to show even more and keep fans confident that the project hasn't become a complete train wreck... just doesn't make sense... but then again, Square has been making a lot of questionable decissions this gen as it is.

Hard at work finishing the game, instead of making a new demo?

that's probably the worst excuse I've ever heard.
The fucking game should have been completed for the original deadline- last summer.

edit: Elios hit the nail on the head. There's no reason for FFXII to not be at the show in some way, shape, or form- unless it just accidentally didn't make the list, which I'm hoping is the case.

OMG first pic of MGS4?! From famitsu

I'm actually looking more forward to seeing what they're going to do with FF13. It's just that we're on the verge of the next gen stuff, and we're not even getting FF12 until probably later next year. That's bad. I think it would have been so much different had it been released a year or two ago. It's just that all this new stuff coming out shortly will be getting, logically, a lot more attention. Perhaps they should just scrap FF12 altogether and call the PS3 version FF12. :D

Well I honestly haven't checked out too many Advent Children shots because I'm trying to stay relatively blind about the movie, but yeah, I don't think Kojima would approve of Solid Snake looking like a pussy.

FF8 came out around the same time as Dreamcast
FF9 came out after PS2

so what's the problem?

Yes, FF8 and FF9 were well received (I believe), so you do have a point. I stand corrected. Still, I can't help but get the feeling that if it came out a year or two ago, it would be more successful. It's just one of those things I can't put my finger on.

edit: okay, now that actual picture of Cid is better. :D

I hope Silent Hill 5 pays a visit to the show.

I'm trying not to get too hopeful... but I'd be very, very happy if it did.
I mean, for all intents and purposes, it should be there in some form. Team Silent had already established that it would be for 'next gen' not too long after SH4 was released in the US. Not to mention interviews later last year, early this year pretty much confirming that it was already in the works.

By now, they should have something.

Please let MGS4 mimic Splinter Cell in many ways :D

From what I've read so far, it makes me think of Battlefield 2 with destructable environments. Now that would fargin rock.

That would be my worst nightmare...

Good lord, first it's all "it's just like Gears of War" now it's all "be like Splinter Cell". Damn it, leave Metal Gear alone. :P

Wait and see. I have a gut feeling Snake is going to control very much like Sam does.

:lol

Splinter Cell controls great, though.

It's everything else that is total crap. :P

I don't think its control scheme will be entirely like SC, but I'm sure it will be closer than the previous two games.

Hey, just cause you suck at ol Splinter Cell doesn't mean the game sucks.:lol

If the game truly "sucked" like so many of you fanboys say, then why are there tons of sequels?

Crap indeed.

:lol

Cmon.

God no......just played the 4rth one.....yuck......dont even put this series on the same sentence with MGS..... :lol

The fourth one isn't my favorite either, and they admitted the gameplay problems up front. Therefore I doubt SH5 will be anything like SH4.

Err, that was an experiment. So they messed up once, why should that end the series? SH1-3 are some of my favorite experiences this gen. I want more!

Oh, I've had no trouble with the games. Stop ruining this thread with talk of Linear Cell.

i still have faith in team silent. yes sh4 sucked donkey dick but you cant ignore how awesome 1-3 was. i have fait. show me sh5.

I like the Silent Hill series more than the Metal Gear series. :)
I like horror atmosphere and Yamaoka music more.
And I like Oreos... and unicorns.

MGS series still kicks ass, though. :D

No, but Splinter Cell is boring as shit, and that does mean it sucks. :)

That's funny, because I thought Metal Gear Solid 2 was boring as shit.

The pendulum swings both ways I'm afraid. At least I have an open mind about the next MGS game.

I liked SH4, but that's about it. I really didn't like the level design and the gameplay was extremely broken, but I still liked the story and atmosphere. A Silent Hill on a next gen system should be quite amazing, just like when SH2 was shown.
