"There's a first time for everything." We've all heard this wisdom throughout our lives and for good reason, it's absolutely true. But what about those firsts which are that much more special and memorable? First time eating pizza, free-falling from a plane, first kiss or receiving that coveted NeoGAF Gold? With so many people from different walks of life and experiences, I wanted to peak inside the adventures (or mishaps) of my fellow GAFers.

Let's allow for some ground rules to make things more interesting:

• You can share a maximum of 3 things.
• They can be either positive or negative.

Joining a Fraternity.

Definitely an unforgettable experience. As a neophyte, I didn’t really go with the members much so when it came to getting the initiation, mine was extra painful.

Got hit by a giant paddle on my back thighs more than 60 times. My legs looked like dark red purple yam due to the blood clotting. The difference between the others and me was other neophytes was getting hit by people my age at the time 15-16. On the other hand, I was getting hit by grown men with families. Could not walk properly for two weeks after that.

I’m not American but it was definitely real and sometimes cops do get involved. Some people with lower pain tolerance literally faint. In some cases, people die.

More like I cannot taste anything. I don’t know if it was because I was dehydrated or something but everything aside from my legs was numb.

I was immature as fuck.Three of us close frienda including me was joining at the same time and it was kinda peer pressure. Looking back it was pretty dumb. I already had dozen close friends that I'm still in contact with today. Had a band as well. Just wanted to be part of everything I guess. It was peer pressure. I couldn't leave the others who was joining in the air. Also my two neighbor childhood friends went with me cause they were already members.

Most fuck up thing was they was escorting me home and the first thing they asked after the whole thing was is it worth it while laughing their ass off.

You actually put up with that shit? Most fraternities consist of old bastards hanging onto some crappy traditions and thoughts of prestige. Load of bullshit if you ask me.

First boardroom meeting, I was 23 or 24, practically an assistant to some big wig. It was just like in the movies. A very sleek and impeccably clean conference room. All of the newer people like me were visibly nervous, the upper management calm, a clear pecking order that no one says out loud but everyone respects. The fake laughter at all of the executives' bad jokes. Better "snacks" and drinks than the actual meals the company served during their annual anniversary dinners.

Recently i ate the most pricier cut of wagyu in existence or extremely close when i was in amsterdam during a trip, never ate wagyu before except wagyu burger (not even remotely comparable tho), it was like eating a piece of paradise, i liked it so much that i had to double dip, 300+ euros for not even 200 gr of meat, and i would do it again.

While i was there i tried for the first time some decently cooked ribs (always had pre-cooked ones from the supermarket before) from cafe De klos famous for being the place with the best ribs in town and my opinion about ribs didn't changed that much, 80% of bones and 20% of meat...a decent steak trump any ribs into oblivion imo, they are actively annoying to eat and taste is whatever.

This summer i had to train at home with resistance bands and it was a first time for me (cables machine in the gym are a different beast imo), i was pleasantly surprised, they are pretty good to get out from the same monotony, but pretty much lighter than dumbells or barbell, i think they are great for complete beginners or for people who stopped training for years when they want to start again, very injuries friendly if you buy quality bands that don't break while you use it.
