This just came to me:

I mean... Feel the Magic is pretty much Q studios (I'd like to think of it this way anyhow) before everyone fled from SEGA and then.... ..... well, they've taken this long and that SONIC DS title is no where to be seen/heard/rumoured. And I don't think I've read anywhere about their PSP schedule. But wait, we're getting condemned and Shadow Angsty Hedgehog? :lol

The days of creative or even productive Sega = dead? I mean DC had stacks of titles.

Booo

Sega is pretty much dead to me unless they surprised me with great games again at the next E3. I remember Sega in the Genesis era... God damned! Is it THAT hard to make a good game now?
"Yeah but our new Sonic game smolder with generic rage " -- fuck that.

If Sammy hadn't changed Sega's development team structure, Tetsuya Mizuguchi wouldn't have left and Lumines would've been released under the Sega name. Way to shoot yourself in the foot.

Puyo Pop is coming out to DS and PSP, but that's not much effort :P

They're making SEGA Rally 2005, but that's been pretty secretive as of late. SEGA need to find their entire advertising department. They basically announce a game, show it in magazines, and then pretty much NOTHING until release [See Altered Beast, Astro Boy, Spikeout]

I'm pretty sure this is not the case. AFAIK everyone involved is still at Sega. John?

They've probably moved on to concentrate on next gen. hardware for Xenon and PS3. They've got Sega Rally 2005 coming for the PS2,should be kick ass. But yeah it is weird that they've been quiet about PSP support thus far. They could easily contract a few games to be done if they have their hands full. E3 baby,we'll see what theyre up to then.

If Sega was smart they'd bring VF4 and Rez to PSP and some old Saturn games to the DS. But they're not.

Anyway, from one of jarrod's lists;

SEGA (includes Sammy)

-PSP
01 Jissen Pachislot Hisshopou! Fist of the North Star

04 World Championship Snooker 2005

Well yeah, the do hate making money... expect money hats, they really like those.

Oh sorry, I didn't realise you had access to their business model projections for PSP games. You should let them know they've made a mistake.

:lol It's really gotten tired now...apparantely Sega is the only company in the world that has to reveal everything they're planning to do weeks ahead of the E3 show. Stupid ass forum...

I´m really tired of this bashing .

This gen i´ve had lots of fun with Dororo , House of the dead 3 , PDO , Out Run 2 , F Zero , Monkey Ball , JSRF , VF4 and I even know people that really love Shinobi and Kunoichi . And thats without talking the DC games .

Is not their best gen , but it isn´t THAT bad .

Well that's true. However there hasn't been a lot of Sega software released in about a year that's been really mindblowing or a must-play. Looking to the future, I'm really looking forward to PSU, and I hope hope hope Shadow the Hedgehog's gun won't be required, and that the level design is fucking fantastic (and let's not forget about fixing that terrible camera). Besides that, I can't think of anything else that they have coming out to grab my attention. Skies of Arcadia II would kick all sorts of ass, but that's still on hiatus.

Well , but think about Konami . The release about 30 games per year based on anime . All crap . Sega release some games that also are crap , but no one devloper can achieve to make even 50% of it´s games AAA . I ´m also very dissapointed with Altered Beast , or what they have done to the shining series , but I think that some of their best studios are very quiet lately . I expect some big announcement of Digital Rex , AMVision , Workwors r Hitmaker .AmVision have done almost nothing since F Zero , and is both AM Vision and Smilebit (Spikeout is not worth their talent) , Digital Rex is still virgin (some korean company is doing Shnemu online) , etc .

And I always can play Out Run 2. :)

If youre anywhere near a Sega fan then Sega Rally 2005 is something you should be looking forward to,unless you hate fun racing games.

I think PES and MGS and Castlevanias and Konami's other output makes them hel of a lot better than sega. At least MGS3 is AAA+. When was the last time Sega released a title that
was actualy even a B game?

I find it hilarious you named all those studios. Especially when Smilebit is no more.

its sega and mizuguchi isn't with them anymore; so they can pretty jolly well fuck it up.

It's really sad, too. The last great Sega game was from Amusement Vision - F Zero GX. Nearly 2 years later, and they've released crap after crap. Sonic Heroes was decent, and I don't think that counts as great.

When did OutRun2 come out? That wasn't just A-grade, it was Triple-A! Ultimate Sega Awesomeness.

Let me guess, you think Burnout 3 ROCKS?

Well, this is where a distinction can be made. Sega has actually been pumping out rather amazing arcade titles for the past 2 years or so (Ghost Squad, Key of Avalon, Outrun 2, Sangoushi Online, etc) after starting their fall into decline in the mid Dreamcast era (I blame Shenmue mainly for sucking up so many resources). Their AM side is the best it's ever been now.

Consumer side is a joke though. That's what happens when you install Yuji Naka as GM.

Fair point. I suppose OutRun2 would've been forumulated three years ago now.

Bitchy comment retracted :)

Virtua Cop 3 is another one that's pure badass... why hasn't this been ported to Xbox or something yet?

Wyzdom said:
hahah yeah, the dream! ;)
You never know, WestOne Bit Entertainment recently reformed. So far they've been doing mainly mobile ports for Hudson and Sega, but it wouldn't be much of stretch to do a 2D Monster World on DS from that...

Outrun 2 is as AAA as it could be MGS3 or even better since at least it doesn´t have any camera issue .

Castlevania LoI is really a crappy game , there are tons of games better in PS2 .Iga games are all crap it seems to be a bugdet studio with no funds that must develop 2 or 3 games per year to live .

And the Contra of PS2 are disgusting . Silent Hill 3 and 4 are very far from the level of quality of the SH 1 and 2 .

Is really the sixmonthly PES giving Konami all that credit? Or are you all playing any of the 10 Prince of Tennis Konami released this gen? Groove on Fight?Flame of Recca? Get Backers?Yu Gi Oh?

Outrun 2 is an arcade game though, and Sega didn't even handle the Xbox port themselves.

Sega Amusement = top of the line
Sega Consumer = horse shit

Wow that's a lot of Konami hatred there. You can insult everything else except the GAF baby MGS3.

Outrun 2 is good but nowhere near MGS3, Shattered Soldiers is sheer brilliance, SH3 is much better than SH2 and PES rocks. Cut the BS.

Whoa, now. I loved both Contras on the PS2. Far, far, FAR superior to the Saturn and PS1 games.

And Castlevania: LoI wasn't too shabby either. Best 3D 'Vania yet.

And the Winning Eleven games are the best Soccer games, perhaps best sports games period, available.

Heck, even those Disney sports games on the Gamecube are fun.

As for MGS and SH, you can take it or leave it. But Konami hasn't missed a beat this generation.

Of course, I think Sega still makes exceptional games too, so my opinion is probably a bit different than the norm.

I completely agree with this post. I think the complaints against Sega are exaggerated to the point that people are ignoring the good stuff. How many of you guys bought Outrun 2 last year, for instance? Or how about PSOIII? Sega hasn't exactly rolled over and died yet, but they'll get to that point if you don't bother to support the software that IS good.

Well , MGS3 is some kind of freaky game and I assume that can´t be touch in this forum , but to the casual gamer the excesive amount of cut scenes and the camera issue is really a problem .

And as long as some of you can like games like Contra or LoI I can feel that Dororo blast any 3D beat ´em up Konami have done this gen or that they have really ruined Suikoden series .

But they point is that as much as I love WE and MGS series , all the rest of crap Konami has develop this gen don´t stop me to see and love the really good stuff they have done , as well as I really enjoy they good stuff Sega have done this gen . Some of them AAA .

there's a monkey ball DS coming? well, i guess i can't sell my DS then.

sega needs to give me monkey ball 3 on GC, so the controls don't totally blow.

after that, i don't care what they do

I think their overall quality is down, but I'm still enjoying a lot of their games. It still means a lot to me to hear about a new Sega game though I agree they seem confused a lot of the time about how or what to release.

Also, Sega really polarizes reviewers and players in a way that not many other game companies do. Feel the Magic and PSOIII got very good reviews...and I thought they were two of the worst games I've ever spent time with. Spikeout has been absolutely ravaged, Outrun 2 was deemed mediocre and Blood Will Tell was all but ignored...but those are all great great buys in my mind.

I hope they continue to release their own sort of games, hit or miss. But with the restructuring and recent look of games like Sonic and some other titles, I think their desperate to reposition themselves in the mainstream. Whether that means an end to their particular brand of quirky inventiveness I'm not sure.
