so the NEW SEGA is so shit that they can't release a DS/PSP title?

If youre anywhere near a Sega fan then Sega Rally 2005 is something you should be looking forward to,unless you hate fun racing games.

Yeah, the racing genre is something I just can't get into.

Besides, Sega has never been a very corporate, corporation, if you know what I mean. They are not going to have shovelware ready at launch. Whether or not that's smart business or not is up for debate. I just know as an end user, I'm not buying any shovelware, nor do I think any company releasing crap like that is in my best interests.

Sega are like the hot chick at school who , at the age of 18, suddenly found an insatiable lust for everything pie shaped and as a result became a fat minger that now no one would touch with a shitty stick.

I´m not bashing MGS3 cause I liked it , BUT I understand that there are some really serious problems in its gameplay and there are lots of people , most of them not really fans of the series , that don´t like the game , SolidSnakeX

The camera is a BIG problem . Maybe you don´t mind to be switching between first person and cenital camera 10 times every ten seconds , maybe I really mind but I can accept it since I love the series , the characters and the scenes , but the game is far , very far of be and A in gameplay .

The problem is that Sega can no longer afford to pay off reviewers to rate their games high like Nintendo, EA, and Sony do.

Oh, I kid, I kid. Put the hatchet down!

Wait for PSU. I'm thinking that is the start of a Sega revival. Notice how many SoJ teams have been practically silent for aaggeess? HHMMMMM.

They could just make PSU with PSO's gameplay plus new levels, characters and bigger teams and i'd be happy. Just don't screw it up.

Feel the Magic was done by the few remaining staff from UGA that did make the move to Sonic Team. As far as I know it was completely ex-UGA staff, I know for a fact that the director, lead designer and lead artist are all ex-UGA. And they are all still at Sonic Team now.

So why does this thread even exist then if you don't even care about their games now?

Because he's an idiot.

BTW, Kenji Sasaski is directing the development for Sega Rally 2005. He was also the director for the first two games, and (I believe) had major involvement with the original Ridge Racer. Can't say those are ingredients for failiure, but no doubt idiot haters will find something there to pick on.

Nothing's going on that I didn't suggest that Sega do some 12 to 18 months ago. Fuck this generation...use every top grade resource available to create content for the next generation as soon as possible. The way EA climbed to the top this gen, and the way Namco got rolling the gen before, was having hot games to buy the moment the next gen machines they developed for hit the stores. That's the only logical thing for Sega to do if they want to re-establish their brand. Again, if Sega is blowing up nothing but say, Astro Boy 2, Virtua Quest Reborn and The Matrix Online Expansion Pack as their heavy hitters for E3, then even I'll start sweating bullets. But at least wait for the damn show to arrive (or the lead up weeks) before writing off every fucking thing they do.

Oh yeah, one more point; Sega's always released a ton of medicore games. Been going on since the days of the Master System. The height of the Genesis era saw some of the most foul, medicore shit ever released with the Sega name on the front (think back to the Home Alone games, and go from there). They just always had six or eight gems a year that balanced those turds out. No doubt they've been missing those gems the last year or two (OutRun 2 is one in my mind, but not much after that)...but again I'll chalk that up to the top developers working on next gen softs instead of wasting time with current systems that are on the way out.

Anyone else buy that recent Play magazine that had the huge section on SEGA? It was a must buy, it had team breakdowns, where are they now, etc. Anyhow, the scariest part to me seemed how bloodthirsty the spokesman was to get involved in licensed products.

This analogy is pretty cruel...but I am sure we all have faced this somewhere in our lifes...Main problem cames when you remember how good was that girl in the bed and how pretty she was and you try to lie to yourself trying to like the new fat minger...Namely trying to justify things like VF Quest, Toejam 3 or Spikeout...

its sega and mizuguchi isn't with them anymore; so they can pretty jolly well fuck it up.

:lol good stuff. So true

Sega (at least of America) is trying to be the next EA, except there are not enough dumbasses who is not already biting the EA hook to take the bait. Sega (of Japan) is falling back to their early years pumping out amazing new arcade games, but only in Japan.

If only Sega would give the fans what they want. Nights, VF, Streets of Rage, VO, Phantasy Star, etc... They can probably still do pretty well... too bad most of those will never happen due to license/financial reasons.

Maybe we'll see some exciting things for the new xbox at E3.....

you missed shenmue ... NEVER FORGET.

they are giving us that stupid MMO Shenmue though :lol

I look at it this way. The last few years a slow trickle of talent has left Sega. Back in the day a person might remark how so and so is finished being a serious developer, having left that huge publisher for a backwater gig at some upstart company. But the exact opposite has panned out. All these guys who have left Sega are doing cooler shit than Sega is doing. I think that speaks volumes on Sega's decline. So, enjoy Lumines and Phantom Dust! I mean, I remember when Sega made games like Jet grind Radio and Skies of Arcadia, once upon a time. That was a great company.
I just hope either Sega gets some better projects up and running or some more of their talent jumps ship to where they can be creative again.

On a related note, i'd KILL for a PSP Crazy Taxi port. Yes, a port of a 5 year old game. I WANT IT!
