So what is your favorite Pixar film?

Top 4 are the Toy Story trilogy then Walle E. Inside Out dead last.

You didn't like Inside Out?

It was certainly near the bottom in terms of comedy, near Wall-E, but in terms of creativity Inside Out was bloody brilliant. Especially the last bit.

When it turns out
a key aspect of "growing up" is your emotions and memories getting more complex and dynamic, not just staying binary e.g. more happy or depressing
.

Fucking ingenious. It was so perfectly done.

What? No, the facts and opinions joke is probably the best one in any Pixar movie. I wasn't expecting it at all.

Not even Inside Out managed to get as mature as the original Toy Story. Still one of the best scenes in all of Pixar history, about knowing your limits and coming to terms with who you are (but not letting that hold you back).

It and Wall-E are my two favorites.

The metaphor is strong with this one. Most meaningful/powerful scene in all their movies. I seriously doubt anything they do will ever match it. That scene is just a part of why Toy Story 1 is by FAR their best work.

You're not wrong – but didn't we all feel the same after Toy Story 1? And Toy Story 2?

3 seemed totally unnecessary but ended up being the best of the bunch, imo.
No. TS1 ended on a light, to be continued note. So did TS2 (musical number). TS3 ended on a "it's all coming to an end, but that's ok" note that perfectly tied up all three movies and delivered a rare, satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. Way different.
