So what kind of overhaul does the new Zelda need?

I want to see them mimic some of the interactivity in Fable and elements of other RPGs. Give me more weapons and shields, let me steal from shops and mess around with NPCs. Speaking of which, NPCs should be doing their own thing like in Majoras Mask. Some kind of training/raising aspect for your horse would be cool too.

Everything he said ESPECIALLY the raise your own horse aspect. Imagine if link had the option to either purchase a thourough bred or catch his own horses among a feild of wild horses that he could raise and take care to eventually become better than the purchased horses. These are the types of steps I want games of that genre to take but I think it would be most appropriate in a Zelda title.

That and a drive to fight other than enemies dropping rupies or bombs ect. How about bringing experience back from the dead ala Zelda 2? Not complicated or anything just simple enough so its fun and gives purpose to fighting lots of enemies.

It's a good thing you guys don't work for Nintendo.

So you don't think being able to catch and train your own horse would be cool for a game like Zelda? I think most Zelda fans would praise Nintendo if they made a change such as that especially if it was precieved the idea was Miyamoto's.

The biggest overhaul the new Zelda needs is for them to stop listening to fans and make the game they want to.
Because they buckled under pressure from fans demanding a cel shaded, boat sailing, young link Zelda? Huh?

Obviously WW didn't meet whatever sales quota Nintendo had set for it otherwise they wouldn't be making the one they revealed at last E3. I personally hold that as one of hardcore gaming fans greatest victory. Nintendo never bends to its fanbase.

Something like that.

I'd like to see some new types of items, or at least some borrowed from other Zelda games, like Dash or Jump boots.

Fable and KOTOR each had spots where all the player's items were taken away. I enjoyed those; they made me appreciate how useful all my stuff was and made me feel like my character was really in dire straits. I wouldn't mind seeing something like that in the new Zelda.

The context-sensitive button should get more use. RE4 did an especially good job with context sensitive actions both during regular gameplay and during QTEs. Not that I want Zelda to have action during cutscenes--it's not a tense game like RE--but I would like for Link to have more opportunities to interact with his environment.

There's a reason why fans play games and designers make them. Let people do what they do best.

Yes, and this reason is because most fans don't know how to program their own games, and don't have enough money to support releasing them even if they did.

This is completely seperate from fans coming out with interesting and alluring gameplay concepts.

I don't want them to change too much, I would have loved a new Zelda with WWs graphics, since that is both the best Zelda game and the best looking game ever, imho.

With the new direction though, I just hope they don't try to make it "mature" (blood, sex, drugs, chainsaws, voiceacting by Vin Diesel) because some fools on the internet think thats what the Zelda games need.
They don't need to make the magic system any more complicated, Link isn't some sort of magician, Link should definately not have a voice, they shouldn't add voices at all if they're not sure they'll be really great. And mentioning Fable and Zelda in the same sentence should cause you to get banned. Unless the sentence is: " Fable really sucks ass, but Zelda rocks", or the sentence I wrote before this one.

What I would like them to change though, is making it a bit harder to figure out where you're supposed to go next, so that you have to ask around and look for clues, instead of the game just screaming in your ear what you should do, like in OoT.

There was actually brief talk about the battle system for it at E3 where the camera was far away while walking through a certain part of the dungeon (like ALTTP) and when Link met an enemy the camera would zoom in and go to the action like say a normal battle in Wind Waker.

I can't believe people have overlooked this but its obviously something that could have easily been changed by now.

[jaded]For Nintendo to ignore everyone and make the game however they goddamned like. Just keep it in house, please.[/jaded]

one thing that i dreamt i could to in Wind waker was something that i call the wind digger:

Link is standing on the ground, he takes out his wand and starts moving the wand from left to right. while he is doing that you see a Cross"much like the aim cross in a first person shooter" and the cross indicates where the wind will tare up the soil."you can move it around how you want."

so if you do a 360 spin on the analog the ground will be ripped up and particles and dust and gravel will be flying around everywhere and it will leave a big deep line in the ground around you.

if you do it on enemies they will be tossed up in the air and fly around in the wind and get hit by the gravel and other particals that was ripped up from the ground. you can control the entire wind so if you want him to fly around in the air for a while you just keep moving the analog stick.

it would just be a cool effect.

i don't think Nintendo need our help in making a Zelda Game!

thank you for the obvious, but that doesn't mean we can't have our own ideas. It's not like EAD sits on this forum and take notes.

What about some dynamic weather effects? Have trees move back n forth, rain dripping from the leaves, plants, etc.

Gamers have lost the sense of triumph through exploration and observation. We're spoon fed everything these days.

I loved Metroid Prime Echoes for that (or for not being llike that I should say...), I felt like I had earned everything myself, but it still gave you those little hints to push you in the right direction.

Sure, keep some of the most classic stuff like bombs, the boomerang and bow if you must. But change it up a little! The grappling hook in WW was a cool example of this. It was similar to the hookshot in function, but different enough to feel new. Of course, then the hookshot turned up in the game anyway. Argh.

Wow, I was thinking the same thing on the bus this morning o_O

Is that all you have to say? That's pretty weak. I'm just pitching ideas, you wanna play the same game over and over again? The New Zelda looks just like OoT so far. Been there. Done that.

They just need to make a great Zelda title.

Wind Waker is still better than 99% of the games out this generation.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Make improvements where they seem natural to make, but don't change the formula radically.

Instead just make the biggest, baddest Zelda adventure ever.

I think that the next Zelda needs to improve its the story. I never get tired of having the Master Sword in the games, Ganon, or the Triforce, but the story should impact the game more and actually be very powerful. Wind Waker was a step in the right direction in terms of story. It was simple, but very effective and entertaining. Link shouldn't speak, but I think the other characters should. I think the combat in OOT/WW is perfect, but I don't want any more recycled bosses. Wind Waker copied some of OOT's bosses, and they needed all new ones.

Adding Epona to OOT was such a great idea and it worked well. It seems Link once again rides a horse in this new game, so transportation is covered. Another thing I think the new game needs is another trading sequence when you get a GREAT reward. The Big Goron's Sword in OOT was so sweet, I want something like that again. I want the old favorites to return of course, like the Hookshot, :) but I want something new and fresh like the Gust Jar was in Minish Cap. I think this feature was in Majora's Mask, but I want to be able to replay dungeons easily, without starting a new game. The Spirit Temple in OOT is SO AWESOME, and I wish I could just play it whenever. I want the Ocarina back, if there is to be music once again. The Ocarina was simple, not like that Baton nonsense. It's much easier to quickly use the Ocarina than the baton.

I know this next Zelda will probably be pretty serious, but I want some humor. In Minish Cap, where the game makes fun of getting a green rupee the first time, "Don't Spend it all in one place!" I laughed and laughed, because it was a great Zelda joke. Ocarina had some funny stuff, too, like Darunia: "HOT! What a hot beat!" When he danced to Saria's song. :lol Another thing I think is done well in Zelda is the stealth sequences. Sneaking around in a barrel in WW or knocking out Gerudo guards in OOT is still pretty fun, and I imagine they could up with something in the new game.
