So what's the latest info on Dragon's Crown?

The game was announced at E3 2011 I think, and has been MIA for over a year now.
I wonder if all the silence is due to the 2D assets taking a long time to make?

In case anyone is trying to remember what this game is, it's the one with the Amazonian warrior with gigantic hips, and the Sorceress with the deliciously succulent breasts.

Off-topic but is Grand Knights History available on US PSN?

Atlus hasn't said anything about it lately. GKH was cancelled for NA due to Vanillaware not having time to work on its localization with XSeed.

It's still listed for 2013 on Atlus' main site, and here is the game site: http://www.atlus.com/dragonscrown/

What does this mean for the game? For one, it means that it’s going to be better than ever. It will, however, come a bit later than originally expected, as it’s now slated for release in 2013.

When we took over the reins, we realized that a lot of the information made available to the public was ambitious and unfounded conjecture. The release timing, the pricing, and many of the features detailed for fans and members of the press were simply unknowable at the time they were disseminated (and frankly we were quite shocked to find out that many of the details were made public unbeknownst to even the developers).

It’s still way too early in development to be talking about specifics, but we can say that the game simply cannot retail for $29.99. We don’t know where that price point came from, but it is a logistical impossibility. We’re all gamers and we all wished it could be so, but it would have essentially destroyed any chance for profitability.

That's about it.

I don't think It's coming out. I think it's sole purpose of it's announcement was to generate tons and tons of doujins and hentai.

Grand Knight History localisation got canned because Vanillaware couldn't spare any manpower to do coding for the already done translation :(

This boggles my mind: What coding is needed to be done to get it released in the US? Does Copy-pasta not work with these kind of things?

I KNOW MAN! This is prob. the first game that ever had so many doujins out for it before the game even got a playable demo!

There's also QA I supposed. Xseed doesn't have anyone to help do the coding. Not sure about QA on Xseed's side. In any case, it feels like gamers and Xseed both got trolled. Quite the pity.

Yeah, still waiting on this. I see Dragons Crown listed on every major retailer store, but still no official word.

After Grand Knights History was cancelled, I'm still really hoping for this.

Maybe this could end up being the game that Famitsu was teasing. Everyone is speculating about it being Versus or TLG, but this had quite a bit of hype when it was first announced.

Well, translation doesn't just mean filling in the Japanese spaces with English and sending it off for duplication. A LOT of problems can spring up just from the translation process (along with changing things like menu icons to reflect the change in language).

That is terrible and i was super exited for that one

But Bravely Default is my current top anticipated 2D title, i prefer the detail and more evident RPG aspect, towns etc

Dragons Crown is more on the action side, which is not really my thing, still i would definitely buy it if it comes

I've been dying for new information too - it's been one of my most anticipated titles since it's announcement.

thread also reminded me that I may have to play through princess crown again.

If I weren't on my phone, I'd dig up the speculation I posted in the Vita thread. Sufficed to say, it's still coming and I'm sure VanillaWare will be very proud of it.

Been waiting for this game since that 2011 trailer. Considering George Kamitani was one of the minds behind the original D&D Capcom arcade games, and how this seems to be basically an update to them, this was one of my three most anticipated games of 2012 (alongside GW2 and TF:FoC). Of course, that was before it got moved to 2013.

Also, while exaggerated proportions has always been a staple of Vanillaware games, I wish they had not gone so overboard with the sorceress and amazon, as their, er, "features" dominate all talk about this game... :/

It is still coming.

Thanks for the confirmation :)

At least once we see more about the game, this will partially subside.

Castling votes for the Elf girl, the only one whom looks like she's born without birth defects! ;)

I'm really looking forward to the game, but I can wait. I can wait for quality 2D. As few of these as we see, let them take their time! I had neither a Vita or PS3 when this was announced, and now I have both... No hype lost, no attention distracte!, When's the last time we got a D&DArcade--style 4 player Beat'em up/hack 'n slash with a full-retail game budget?!?

TAKE YOU TIME! We'll be waiting... And at least we know, with Atlus, when there's something to hear, it'll be funneled to the Faithful ASAP, and in style.

I wonder, are there a lot of games that got a lot of fanart/porn before release and ended up becoming vaporware?

I recall Starcraft: Ghost being like that

Didn't know you liked them that way~
The Elf is prob. 2000 years old, which by Elf standards is equivalent of 20 human years...poor lass

Proportinate! So much better than a steroid amazon or an adult-filmstar caster! (-_-; )
And that's why elf girls should get with human males. "Hi, I'll look 20 for your entire lifetime!" Yet with all the experience and development that'd happen over those years. Talk about a reason to live a long life...
. Taken as a whole, I really like Kamitani's designs, however. Barely anyone looks the same, giving everyone something unique to them. Makes the whole of the work feel less like it's pandering, and more like there just happens to be designs and styles for every taste (for the female AND male designs)

(Also think it's kinda cool that the Amazon is just an over-muscular version of Golden Axe 1's Tyris Flare, design wise. Nice mini-homage?)

Maybe we'll start to hear more about this game, after Muramasa Vita releases... maybe paired alongside the staggered release of that game's DLC. It'd be great if Muramasa's DLC tied into DC somehow (buy all the DLC, get Momohime as a playable character in Dragon's Crown!), but I guess that's quite unlikely.
