Got this DVD off of amazon and i love it alot! Granted Im a martial arts fan and Bruce Lee is just one of my favs of all time. You can pick it up for like 8 bucks...least I did, and its un cut, with english subtitles!

Yes Thai girls can get annoying with their high pitched whinning but besides that, I think Tony Jaa is goin places. His ability is just nuts and the movie is just so RAW. Doesnt have that planned look, seems like some scenes they said ok...for this next shot go at it, whoever gets owned we'll go from there. The moves in this movie just rock, if there was ever a live action SNK movie i know who better be cast as Joe Higashi hehe. So waht did you guys think of it?

I was totally hammered when I watched it and the only thing I really remember was laughing at the "dirty balls" on the subtitles.

It's showing in cinemas here at the moment. I've been wanting to see it and House of Flying Daggers but just haven't gotten around to it yet. Would I be missing out on anything by just grabbing the DVD of Ong Bak or would it be even better on the big screen?

It's fucking awesome. The chase sequence is one of the most incredible things I've ever seen and the extended fight scene in the 'club' is incredible. Seriously, even though the plot is kinda lame and all, this movie is an absolute treat to watch.

i havent caught it in the theaters. though i WILL if it ever releases in my area. The dvd i have is the uncut Thai version so its pretty sweet, i dunno if the US cut is edited i guess I'll find out.

I had just finished playing through Stuntman when I watched this movie for the first time so the Tuk Tuk (sp?) chase was especially badass to me. By extended fight scene do you mean they added some for a different dvd release?

I'm pretty sure there is an original Thai theatrical cut and a Luc Besson cut... by extended fight scene I'm assuming he's referring to the original thai theatrical cut. (The US theatrical version is the Besson cut)

Great movie. I actually prefer my R0 DVD i bought on Ebay for $12 to the version i saw in theaters. All Luc Besson did was cut a few character developing scenes, and add hip hop tracks to a Thai movie of all things....

Btw guys, you all bought bootlegs. There's no legit dvd version of ongbak with english subs.

If it looks authentic, has all the extras and looks good on my HD set i'm not really caring if it's a bootleg or not.

I saw it in theatres just last week and it was pretty sweet. Who needs a story when you've got awesome action to watch? The beginning dragged on for a bit, but after that it was non-stop action. The replays were just what I wanted to see, though that might change on second/non-stoned views.

Great movie.
Non-stop, raw, ass-kicking action.

Muay thai boxing is a pretty cool style! And the actor was incredibly talented.
I didn't like how he slaughtered that kung-fu fighter in the club though. That guy sucked.

I'm just saying you're wasting your time if you think you're actually informing anyone of something.

Oh god, the dvd I just ordered from Asia might be a bootleg?! No way!

Love it. Love it!

Lost of Thai movie goodness recently...Tears of the Black Tiger, 6ixty9ine, Last Life in the Universe (damn good), Legend of Suriyothai. Even Nang Nak, you crazy little "true ghost story" you!

Tony Jaa should just stay in Thailand to make kick-ass movies. I hate to think what might become of him if he made the move to Hollywood...T-Jaa and 50 Cent in "U Can't Kick 2 Kill", a hip-hop wire-fu extravaganza from the director of "Fire Down Below!"

Or even worse..."Just Say Jaa: AND DIE" starring Steven Seagal and Tony Jaa as a tag team of former police officers who have to come to terms with their racial differences and sordid pasts over the course of 85 action filled minute.

Only if Steven wears one of his trademark "WTF??!!?" outfits a la The Glimmer Man (or On Deadly Ground, or that other one with the Rastafarians, or...well, any of his flicks, I reckon)...AND he's an ex-CIA/Spec Ops agent who has to teach Tony all about Buddhism ("Rub mah belly!").

They will also uncover a thai slave trading organisation. They blow up the building during the final fight, as Jaa is holding a little thai baby, jumping away from the explosion

It was very good. Pretty much took the 80s formula action / martial arts Honk Kong movie and emulated it perfectly. Having said that, the double-take shots got annoying... yes the stunt looked great, but do you have to repeat again from a different angle? No. Jaa might make it in hollywood, but he needs to go through puberty, or get one of those voice machine thingies that the main villain had, because his voice is damn girly.

Sorry to bumpety bump, but this didn't really need a new thread.

Ong Bak just opened in the UK, shame there wasn't any television trailers or decent promotion, save for a few posters and bus adverts in London. Only realised it was actually getting a release here 2 weeks ago. Needless to say the screening I went to had about a dozen people.

Regardless, awesome movie. All my friends I dragged to see it came out really impressed from being sceptical before going in. Tony Jaa rocks!

I enjoyed it a lot. Pretty fun stuff...Still far from the best martial arts movies I have seen but a good start.

Wicked movie, very enjoyable for what it's supposed to be, an martial arts action extravaganza!

Don't go watching this expecting it to be the next Citizen Kane or whatever.
