So, who's buying Mad Max next week?

Pre-ordered it on console this weekend, had a bunch of credit so figured, sure!

It may be a WB game but it is also an Avalanche game so I'm not too worried about DLC or lack of fun.

After Mortal Kombat and Arkham Knight I'm not buying anything day 1 from WB.

MKX's launch issues compelled me to wait on Arkham Knight--which was such a huge clusterfuck that it still isn't up for sale through Steam. It will take a shitton of work to get me to ever preorder their stuff now.

After launch, though? Unless it gets stellar reviews and lots of positive buzz here and elsewhere, I'll just wait for a sale.

just canceled my pre-order. i am very interested in the game but the release date is just dumb. now with that 500h+ metal gear marathon i got really hyped for mgsv. glad i got that collectors edition.

It looks just like any other open-world action-adventure game nowadays with the same game design. I'll probably pass on it.

Name them.
Name all the "other open world action adventure" games that share the same game design.
If the so called design of having a large map with multiple objectives spread across it, puts this game into "same game design" category, then pretty much every open world game is the same....from Far-Cry to Just Causefrom The Wild Hunt to GTA....they are all the same game design.

On Topic

I am picking this up.
I like to have a go too romp and stomp game activily in my collection....for years it was Just Cause and Bayonetta, with my XB1 it was Sunset Overdrive games i could pick up and play for 10 - 20 minutes and get instant gratification, then move on.

MGSV doesnt seem to be a game that I could play for short stints like 10 minutes....id probably have to plan to be in the game for atleast 30 to an hour minimum every time i pick it up.

Picking up Mad Max and MGSV next week. I'm not totally sure MGSV is for me, so i want to get Mad Max to have something to do if MGSV doesn't click with me.

Such a shame so many gamers are passing on Mad Max. Just watching the gameplay videos gets me hyped for this game. Awesome car combat, brutal melee, exploration, scavenging and survival in a huge desert wasteland. I haven't been this hyped for any game this generation as I am for Mad Max. Game is going to be a blast and I don't give a shit if every bullshit reviewer on Earth rates the game a zero. Pre-ordering Friday and picking up on release day. Can't wait!!!

As for WB Games, they have dominated the year for me thus far. The Witcher 3 which is my game of the year, Batman Arkham Knight which was the first and only game that I have completed in the Arkham series and after watching The Following DLC video for Dying Light, im tempted to eventually give that another try.

And in a week from now, Mad Max baby!!! Add in the Mad Max movie on Blu Ray/DVD and September 1st is going to be a MAD!!!!! (like the exclamation points??? Hehehe) day for me. Woohoo!!! :)

I was interested in the game but normally I don't preorder games and I'll wait until the price drops significantly but I received a email from greenmangaming 20 minutes ago, it had a code for 50% off the game plus ripper dlc so I ended up preordering the pc version.
Even if the game is awful and bug ridden I'll only be out 30 bucks and the price is cheap enough I can afford to wait for patches without regretting spending the money.
If you get emails from gmg check your inbox.

Holy crap GMG really want me to buy this game. I was debating it with that 40% voucher on their site, then they sent me a 50% off voucher (MADMAX-SAVE50-MADMAX). Offer is until August 28th, so I have some time to decide.

Leaving it here for others.

Yeah, 50 percent off is really enticing. I'm probably going to be all in on MGSV but I might as well get it to play after. I want to see some reviews first though.

Thanks! Added to OP

I have no money or time after MGSV. Unfortunate, because my interest is strong.

I'll pick it up down the line barring bad word-of-mouth.

Avalanche has been impressing me more and more as the years go by. I have my hopes in Mad Max but to be perfectly honest I haven't been paying too much attention to it. Being a licensed title there is some apprehension there so it won't be day 1 for me but if things sound good I'll definitely show my support for it.

Just a note when I was checking out I believe I saw a note that gave a warning about only having a limited number of keys available.
This is my second time ordering from gmg so I'm not sure if it is normal or not but there was a 15 minute timer before mad max would be removed from my shopping cart.
I don't know how many keys they have but I would not be surprised if they run out before the 50% off code expires.

I want to but my issues with the game from what I have seen so far (including watching bits of the 70 min gameplay footage) is that the melee combat looks mediocre and I do not want to spend most of my time just doing car combat where I just ram other cars for the most part. I also hope there are interesting locations and towns to visit in the wasteland rather than a beautiful but ultimately quite barren (in terms of locale) wasteland.

Nothing to sweat. That 15 min timer has always been there once you add it to the cart. I'd be surprised if they run out of keys, I can only count a handful of times that that has happened and those were with much more popular titles.

Good to know, thanks.

I'm interested but I'll pass for now and wait until it's cheaper. Phantom Pain is going to consume my life. You can bet your ass I'll pick up Fury Road though.

Got that voucher in the mail earlier. 50% off a full-price AAA title a week before release? That makes the red alert klaxons go off big time. Gonna definitely wait now.

Horrible timing.

Should've either released it in mid-August - when there was essentially no competition - or waited until mid-September - when things have died down.

As it is, I will wait for reviews and - if favorable - will buy when my backlog goes down.

I wanted to, but an unexpected expense came up, so it'll have to wait a few weeks. Now it was either Mad Max or Until Dawn in addition to MGSV and I went with the fun horror game I can play with my niece.

Getting this Monday night because have to wait for metal gear collectors to be delivered on tuesday. Going to be 1 of 5 people at gamestop getting mad max.

Got it for 40% off on gmg. Guess I should've waited. This comes out almost 24 hours ahead of MGSV according to steam, so I'll play it till then, assuming I get the key in time to preload. My understanding is that MGSV doesn't have a pre load so we'll see.

I just cancelled my pre order. It looks awesome and I bet it will be but with school starting back up I don't have time or money for all these games. Just sticking with MGS and Mario Maker and I'll snag this when it's cheap.

I did, and no they didn't. They were only live for about 20 minutes.
Played with XBOX controller, switch to keyboard and mouse for a few seconds for some reason, and it did crash about half way through.

Thanks for taking a look. Pity they didn't show much off but they must be confident enough in it to be showing it off onstream.

A Warner Bros. published PC game heavily discounted by GMG?

Fucking hell no. I learned my lesson with Arkham Knight.

Unless Avalanche outsourced (doubtful, wasn't JC2 in-house?) I extremely doubt their port is a Batman shituation.

Weren't the first two Batman games on PC developed in-house by Rocksteady?

Man, not that I necessarily blame people for waiting, but Avalanche is definitely going to get some of the flak from MKX and AK even if the PC version of Mad Max is perfect.

Nobody trusts WB anymore. Rightfully so in my opinion, regardless of Avalanche's track record. The $$ still goes to the publisher.

Warner Bros. is the publisher. They own the rights. They get to choose who does the PC port and how it is handled. Us being wary about buying the PC version says nothing about Avalanche's abilities. I'm all in on day 1 for Just Cause 3, which is published by Square Enix, thankfully.

After the Arkham Knight fiasco my faith in WB has been shattered. Will pick it up down the road when its much cheaper.

Fury Road? I'll probably get that day 1.

True and I certainly don't blame anyone for being suspicious but Avalanche are doing it inhouse and they've always had solid versions of their games on PC. They showed it off onstream today as well so I seriously doubt we're dealing with an Arkham Knight. But won't be long now anyway until it's all out there! It also helps that it's on their own proprietary engine so I'm not too worried about it tbh.

Any sources for this?

If both are true, I'll definitely reconsider.

So did anyone watch this ? Did they show off any of the graphics options etc ? No past broasdcasts looking at the link :(

I just bought Gears and Until Dawn today. I have metal gear preordered. I still really, really, want mad max but fuuuck that's a lot of games in one week. I'll probably still buy it at some point in the near future though.

Mad $5 Max for me.

This. If the reviews are good, that is.

Apparently if you pre-purchase it, MGSV unlocks on Sept 1st, midnight New Zealand time. Which is apparently like 5am on the 31st, PST. At least that's what people are saying.
