So with Xbox going the Sega route

I would love to see Warner Brothers or Disney make a console with Looney Tunes / Donald Duck / Simpson type games.

I would be there day one. What we don't need is more generic shooter or wrpg games repeated ad nauseam.
Best I can give you is another live service game or a browl game.

those companies aren't even giving their all when it comes to their shows

they certainly aren't going to go all in when it comes to video games, not unless they can do GaaS and generate infinite money like Epic and Nintendo do

Those people arently really the primary target for console owners. Because every game require internet these days, so you need a good one to actually play online games.

5-10 years from now isnt going to be the same as now. We are currently working with fiber optic for faster internet. That would soon spread around the world making the internet faster.
Maybe

I always use Southern Indiana since so much of my family lives there but 2 sets of nephews live in rural settings that game and just updates to games can take them hours and no way can they use the cloud and no signs of better internet on the horizon

Couple that with about all their friends from school live in about the same setting with 2 schools like this in one our county all those people add up

I do agree some day we will be all cloud but we arent even close yet unless one of the companies just want to leave a ton of people out of gaming.

Xbox isn't going the Sega route. They've got hardware in the works. Believe it or not.
When it comes to Microsoft and their track record as of late… I usually fall in the don't believe it category..
We are so far away from that point in the US as too many people live in rural settings that could never use a cloud service

Optional yes but forced cloud?

No way
This is correct. These people who spew this "cloud is the future" bullshit have not taken one minute to consider the infrastructure/energy/bandwidth costs associated with it. This is not a snap of the finger change that can easily happen. At best it will be an option, but there will always be a market for people who want dedicated hardware.

Honestly my biggest fear is with nvidia losing interest in making GPUs since they are so drunk on AI dollars right now. I can see people leaving pc gaming as the costs of GPUs get too high. I'm no saying that is likely, but I can at least entertain and discuss the possibility.

Bam PC gaming without the arms race. You're welcome (y)
I went to eBay to try and see if I could save a few $$$ and buy an OLED model used….people are fucking paying more for used than they are brand new…WTF. It's not like Steamdecks are a scarce item.

Come on dude it's the OLED model

If you want good prices you're gonna have to get an LCD. I've been using mine for 9 months and it's served me fine. Cope I know but i'm just not willing to get the OLED. You can get a 512gb LCD for the same price as the 64gb

The Switch is a far cheaper option though, comparing the 2 devices on the used market

The goal is to normalize the service slowly before full switch.
These console had 2-3 gen before full cloud. But with covid, inflation and physical media dying slowly, Some like MS is rushing to get the first spot.

Wont happen.
The price isnt going to only affect pc, but consoles too.
Amd exist, and if they do price increase, you bet your arse that they will increase the consoles too.

Nintendo's way and DNA is in the integrated software-hardware approach. So while they may not dominate the industry, they are the only ones that can't go software only in my opinion..

I know it's not what you asked, but it's where the conversation is probably going. So lets just get that out of the way.

PC gaming is not MS when Linux exists and Valve owns the most popular storefront. MS is simply the choice of OS for most gamers
It's only a choice in that we are forced to use it. I wouild love nothing more than to make a dedicated Steam machine and ditch windows completely. Windows is becoming infested with ads and is getting worse and worse.

MS would go a long way with me if they offered a gaming-only version of Windows. I would legit pay for this.

AI is not forever. I think this technology will crash sometime in the near future, because most of it is dependent on preexisting human data and there's a cap on how much of that exists.

the growth hasn't been as exponential as it's been since 2020-2022 and people are falling out of love with it thanks to the oversaturation of it, not to mention the millions of jobs it endangers.

when that happens Nvidia's gonna have a rough waking up

Oh I am looking into it. We aren't there yet.
uh huh. They say this every year.

Let me know when I can play all games a Linux system. We aren't there yet.

tbh I never though much of Sega, even back in the day. A few friends had Master Systems and they were ok... but I never cared enough to buy one for myself. I did get a Dreamcast and loved it, but the support died so fast.

Xbox og wasn't on my radar until very late in its life cycle, but it had some great games. 360 was my system of choice for its gen, and I got a PS3 later on and loved it as well, but Xbox One was pretty awful. One X was a great system with bc and GPU with MS Rewards was really good at the end of last gen. Series X is a great machine, but MS just never seemed to care for the system's success, so why should anyone else?

So, at this point for me, it's down to Nintendo and Sony, and if either of them go all-digital I won't be supporting that kind of a platform. I don't think I'd have any interest in a new company jumping in the ring.

That is just cap.
There is no limit to how much data we have.
Everyday, there is new data on the Internet. We are evolving at a rabid pace.

AI will be integral to the evolution of human kind as space conqueror. There is so much that AI provides to help us move faster.

Robot machines helped us alot. Now the AI will do the same.

yeah but then they'll be training on a new 1 year of data instead of the millions of years that humans have archived previously. That's not a lot of extra data for an AI to train themselves on, and a lot of the advancement just comes down to AI getting more data so they can properly understand how humans work and interact. hence why companies are trying so hard to harvest yours and feed them into the AI machine

Nah, the data we get everyday is more than what AI can handle.

Nope, Playsation will drop their consoles too in the future.

The accelaration of technology is rapid at the moment. Its matter of time before everyone plays on cloud.

Also getting in to console business is very expensive.
30m consoles at 400$ is $12B investment. Not including other investment like 3rd party deals, marketing and hiring teams to manage your product.

You are seeing close to $20b+ investment.
I swear you just use some sort of weird math formula on a dart board and throw darts at it randomly, and act like you know wtf you are talking about…shit is hilarious by the way 😂
