Oh yeah, I got yours. I even reviewed it. But you weren't even in my group; you were just cool enough to make up for the last exchange.Saint Cornelius said:You didn't get the one I sent you?!

Fifty said:8 Bit, you told me you were mailing it but it never arrived. Since you got mine so quickly, I'm thinking that you just didn't send it out.
The problem is that with responsiblities changing every each exchange, it's hard to compile a list of deadbeats. That said, I'll try to get a list done soon.Litigation Manuel said:The last one was way too unreliable. I think if we do make another, we set up some guidelines, like:
1. Mixes MUST be sent out by this date. If they are not sent out, you cannot participate in the next exchange.
2. Mixes must be reviewed by this date, if not, you cannot participate in the next exchange.
to be fair you and I reviewed each others and the other two didn't show up. but there was that whole board meltdown thing right in the middle.yoshifumi said:to be fair though, i only reviewed half of the ones i was supposed to.
sp0rsk said:digital! i didnt write any reviews, so heres my review, i liked most of buddyc's i liked almost all of farts, none of eminems (sorry), and some of agent dormers. id like to thank buddyc and agentdormer for turning me on to belle and sebastian, they rock.

I would be down, but we really need some sort of system that weeds out the non participating people. Perhaps mix tape noobs get lumped together their first exchange, then once they prove they can send and review then they get on the big list for the next one?
EDIT: I would be willing to go digital. I finished my mix on time last time but they went out a few days late bacuse I couldn't get my ass to the post office
:lol I just found that game cleaning my room the other day, I felt like a total ass. Its coming, along with a bonus since I am a dick. I know your address is still on this computer somewhere.ohamsie said:Scola, I never got that prize you were going to give me for winning your avatar contest back in the spring, are you going to send it or did you decide against it? I understand if you did, but I wish you would have given me a heads up.

EDIT: you have a PS2 yet?
Edit 2: Your parent's adress in ohio? if so I have it.
8bit said:I sent 2 discs to you(along with a copy of Kuru Kuru Kururin for GBA I got for cheap as a late bonus), and 4 other discs to some (non GA) folk in the US/UK. To this day, only one of those items has arrived at it's destination.
It may well still be in the post, but as it's 2 months later I'd write it off as lost until you know otherwise.
spangler said:The summer exchange was terrible. I sent out my mixes way before the due date and received one in return. Nobody did any reviewing, either. I did appreciate the constant "I'm gettin' ready to send it, doods, just gotta get a blank cd" bullshit that appeared in the gargatuan stickied thread related to the exchange. I guess some of my partners are still having trouble rounding up a blank cd and mailing it out. Why sign up if you know you have little time (and little inclination) to actually participate?

BuddyChrist83 said:I was actually tipped off to Belle & Sebastian through a previous Mix Exchange.
This time around, between 20 and 30 people heard my mix. I sent out 6 or 7 burns, and I know it was downloaded a bunch off of Dormer's server.
Review-wise, I got nothing. Yea, sp0rsk just tossed in his say, and Fifty went out of his way to tell me that a few songs rocked, but apart from that ....nothing. No real reviews. So I'm apologize to my groups for my lack of reviews, but it goes both ways folks. And with the 2 mixes preceeding this one, well, I've always pumped out more reviews than I've received, and that never seems right to me :/

1. Yes! I am a Long Way from Home- Mogwai: Through sefskillz mix and yours, I have come to really like Mogwai. Plus, having a name inspired by Gremlins can't hurt. Such a great film. Anyway, good song, very relaxing, pretty, nice soft, carrying bass line. The part in the end where it the song finally comes together and fufills is nice, energetic, but not too much. I will definately look into them more. 8/10
2. The Only Moment We Are Alone- Explosions in the Sky: Very pretty. Good. Relaxing. I'll look into them. 8/10
3. Soul and Onward- Do Make Say Think: I really like the horns and the vocals on this. It adds at points an ominous sound, at others an utterly majestic sound. It provokes many thoughts, like many of the songs on here. Great for sitting down and thinking. Or writing an essay for school (as I am doing now). 8/10
4. Rage Man- Mogwai: I like the harmonics part at the beginning. Nobody uses that guitar sound enough. It is like the rest, very relaxing, yet it will sometimes go off key and grab the attention very delicately and skillfully. Quite good. The piano is especially well-done. 8/10
5. First Self-Portrait Series- Rachel's: I like the strings on this song. The background piano is very tranquil and soothing. The set up is very simplistic in formula, yet goodly. 8/10
6. An Accidental Memory in the Case of Death- Eluvium: More good piano! Hooray! In fact, it's all piano. Yet good. Relaxing. 8/10
7. Mombassa- A Northern Chorus: I really liked this song. Especially when the voices comes in, and though at first you can hardly understand them, they slowly develop into words you recognize, as a slow dawning understanding. They sure like talking about Jesus. It's a really neat song, and though I will probably be looking into all bands, I'll be sure to remember this one. 9/10
8. Girls- Death in Vegas: Very pretty. Good. Relaxing. The vocals are nice, fading assuredly and calmly in and out. Quitely goodly. It gets fun and flows from calming to energetic as the beat kicks up, well-done. 8/10
9. Being President is Like Riding a Tiger- Maserati: Another calming song, very good. A good guitar song. I like when the key changes to major and the beat speeds up, it gets all fun and such. The ending is great. 8.5/10
10. Hooray! Hooray! Hooray!- Do Make Say Think: Whoa. Did those horns just play, and then fade out all cool? I think they did. That was kinda cool. Now they're coming back! All crazy like! This is pretty cool. Keyboard organ!? Yay! I likee. What's that now? Slide guitar? Cool! This song makes me tingly, in the good way. A great closer. 10/10
All in all, the songs on this are good. However, they are even greater all together, as a complete mix, at the right time. When I first listened, I was mowing the lawn at my dad's office, and all these poetic thoughts came to my mind. The mix was very thought provoking and inspiring I guess. The bands are all pretty similar in sound, if you told me there were the same group, I'd believe you. However, just because they are not entirely original doesn't mean they aren't creative. Good stuff. I later used all those poetic thoughts in a poem, which I would turn in to my English teacher for our poem project. A good mix. Thank you, sorry for getting this so late. Album as whole: 8.5/10
