The page took a while to load and for a second there, only seeing the title, I thought it just might've been Sega's next crazy idea for the series

Yuji Naka later commented on the design of the game. "We had received letters from kids, and many of them had asked for Sonic to have a gun," he said. "We felt that it was not appropriate for Sonic to have a gun, but maybe it would be ok with Shadow and that's how we started on the game."

I like the art... I wouldn't mind if Sonic Team used cell shading to similar effect in Sonic 360/PS3 actually. Maybe the inevitable Revolution Sonic will sport cellshading to make up for engine scalebacks?
