They aren't.
Strange how this is not ever brought up in the OS arena towards this $3-4T company.Muh Competition™
Because nobody will buy it.
Xbox is already dead.
They've done very well building up their install base this gen.
If they ship a PS6 at a ridiculous price point, when they've already set the precedent this gen that hardware prices will not come down quickly (or even at all in the case of this gen), then the message will be this is not for their core audience, but a 10-15% subset of hardcore mass affluent only.
Everyone else will either fuck off to either Nintendo or give up on gaming altogether.
I know Sony have been quite stupid of late but an act of desperately aggressive self-harm is perhaps a step too far.
Xbox only gave PlayStation real competition for about a 4 year period their entire life cycle and Sony has been just fine.
In the PS1-PS2-PS3 and even in the PS4 era (despite the lack of a platinum line), those price drops would have been permanent.I checked psprices.com and Demon's Souls and Returnal go on sale frequently at $30 for digital. When do Nintendo first party games ever go on sale at 50% off?
Cool stuff. You're making this worse and should probably stop with this childish line of thinking. Your McDonalds/WalmartAvatar comparison makes zero sense. The thing is, popular doesn't equal fine dining. It also doesn't equal low IQ. You're confusing "mass appeal" with "intellectual deficiency," which says more about your ego than anyone else's taste. The difference is, I can dislike something without assuming everyone who enjoys it is intellectually inferior or "low IQ". That's called emotional maturity. You should try it dude.
Also, needing to call millions of people morons for liking certain games like COD or GTA: Online isn't an argument.......it's just insecurity. I'll leave it at that.![]()
Revenue is not profit. Microsoft never reveal profit or loss for the gaming segment, or any other area where they dont want direct comparison with its competitors. In those cases they talk about percentages and revenue. And then they show overall profit for entire business, all divisions combined. The Xbox division brings in $25 billion dollars annually. That's about 20% of the market cap of Sony Corporation as a whole. Don't get it twisted. While the branding on the plastic box may look different next time around, Xbox isn't going anywhere.
I think some people live in a fantasy world where Xbox is Sega circa 2000 bleeding cash and on the verge of bankruptcy. Let's not get carried away here.
I'm not sure if you're happy or sad about this. End of the day they even refunded all the people who purchased it too. Hardly "arrogance" due to lack of competition.Never forget they greenlit Concord. And then murdered it shortly after.
Strange how this is not ever brought up in the OS arena towards this $3-4T company.
You even got this monopoly playing victim to Steam of all things, not just Sony.

We had competition, Xbox lost, it's OVER. Market has spoken OP, get over it.
fuck XboxIts just more that I constantly see people wishing for the death of Xbox, when that in fact would probably not be best for consumers in the long end.
fuck Xbox
now what?
I never said that, why?Lmao what do u think im sort of Xbox fanboy?![]()
OkI never said that, why?
Because they are so arrogant and stupid, just think of the ps3 days. Hell even on ps5 right now we see barely any good first party titles
These companies need the competition from eachother, yes MS has been flailing around like a headless chicken for years, but to hope for MS to fully quit Xbox is like giving Sony the keys to the Mansion and saying "go wild"
Unless you want monthly psn subs to become crazy expensive, Sony not caring about their core players etc..
Competition is HEALTHY for consumers. We WANT these companies fighting for our wallet.
Xbox needs to die because they have failed as competition, and their refusal to retire is preventing fresh faces from showing up. We laughing at Xbox is us giving them hints that they are clowns who should leave stage right. It's a thread about how competition is great for gamers, he doesn't even own an Xbox. Fanboys always do this. If you're not shitting on Xbox and laughing at them 24/7 you must be a fanboy of MS. That's one of the mental deficiencies that come with the fanboy affliction.
Triggered fanboy reactions>
No in spite of itSony is arrogant because Xbox fucked up badly?
Correction, no good competition is bad.No competition is bad for us gamers (look at Nvidia). As of now PlayStation has no competition, I see Nintendo as an add-on console that you have next to your main console. And PC I mean its popular now but with the recent developments this will become a thing only for the rich. Either way we are screwed because arrogant Sony will be back
I would agree but before they vanished they bought out half of AAA devstudios, and not gonna lie, quality of products coming from those studios fell flat.Playstation, Nintendo, PC all thriving, Not many care or would notice Xbox not existing anymore.
Yer hopefully ES6 is great.I would agree but before they vanished they bought out half of AAA devstudios, and not gonna lie, quality of products coming from those studios fell flat.
Example being starfield, it sold gangbusters(basically only true xbox console exclusive that did proper sales numbers) but quality of the game is far from what we got used to with fallout 3, 4, vegas or elder scrolls mainline games, for other games im not worried but as a bethesda/wrpg genre fanatic i really want ES6 to be good and by now i cant be sure it will be anymore, still hyped af for it but hopefully i wont get slapped in the face![]()
fuck Xbox
now what?
Most of that that happened by MS with Xbox this very gen when Sony was their main competition stomping them![]()
Warms up fingers:
1. Price of console will surely be more than it was going to release for with Xbox in the game.
2. PSN has no reason not to go up in cost now.
3. Systems may not be as powerful as planned. PS6 power cut due to larger profit option that wasn't available with Xbox in the game.
4. You just handed Rockstar a license to release GTA 6 upgrade for $120.
5. More tiers for PSN for higher costs.
6. Adds, Adds, Adds - and you have no where to run too but PC.
7. Fewer first party releases - Why does Sony need them they own the market?
8. Developers will love this one - Higher development costs to release on PS because where are you gonna go?
9. Cheaper made systems and more failure opportunities.
10. Poorer quality control because where's the consumer gonna run too? Windows has been doing that to us for years!
I can go on and on but, I think you get the point!

No, I don't see it and definitely not most. Most of that that happened by MS with Xbox this very gen when Sony was their main competition stomping them![]()

MS raised the price of their console, raised the price of Live/Game Pass and added more tiers, came out of the gate with a weaker console with RAM issues, ended the gen with the weakest console, now has zero exclusives, etc, etcNo, I don't see it and definitely not most.
Didn't buy the Series S and the X is definitely not the weakest console so, no you don't get those points.MS raised the price of their console, raised the price of Live/Game Pass and added more tiers, came out of the gate with a weaker console with RAM issues, ended the gen with the weakest console, now has zero exclusives, etc, etc
