Everyone else will either fuck off to either Nintendo or give up on gaming altogether.

First of all no one is fuck off to Nintendo to play triple a games. Sony could even do some type of subscription like in the uk for the console. Plus you can always get a PS5 or PS5 pro for cheaper.

Certainly would be nice for Sony to have more direct competition...but they will still over time be competing with computers, tablets and smartphones encroaching on the living room, because you can just connect an HDMI cable or stream to the TV with any wireless controller these days.

Revenue is not profit. Microsoft never reveal profit or loss for the gaming segment, or any other area where they dont want direct comparison with its competitors. In those cases they talk about percentages and revenue. And then they show overall profit for entire business, all divisions combined.

During the ABK acquisition, MS had that whole 'poor, little company being bullied by big, bad Sony' shtick going on. It was absolutely laughable then, but given the aftermath (layoffs, studio closures, varying quality on game releases, service price increases, hardware price increases, etc.) you'd think people would finally catch on that MS just may not be the most consumer friendly company or one that embraces healthy competition. Given that, it's remarkable that we still have people going to bat for them, even going so far as demonizing any companies that would dare to be successful in areas where they want to be (Sony, Valve, etc.).

When the PlayStation 5 generation ends and it will be longer than its predecessor—there will be many more first-party titles from Sony. Surely, when the PlayStation 6 has been on the market for a year, many will say that the PlayStation 5 generation was the best... nostalgia certainly plays a part for some.

For me, the PlayStation 5 is already by far my best generation, not only because I enjoy games much more in a more mindful way, but also because at the beginning of the generation, it even made me money through speculation.

I buy physical games, and in my case in Spain, once I unlock all the achievements, I put them up for sale, and in most cases, I recoup my investment for another title. Simply fantastic.
 
A's a dad of 2 at 41, I'm perfectly happy woth my ps5 and switch 2. It's a blessing that MS titles are releasing for ps5, i don't think ill ever own anything else than these 2 moving forward.
 
This platform war for videogames is long overdue. Software should be able to run on any platform that meets the requirements. Hardware manufacturers shouldn't have a say on what software developpers should do.
 
No competition is bad for us gamers (look at Nvidia). As of now PlayStation has no competition, I see Nintendo as an add-on console that you have next to your main console. And PC I mean its popular now but with the recent developments this will become a thing only for the rich. Either way we are screwed because arrogant Sony will be back

Xbox needs to die because they have failed as competition, and their refusal to retire is preventing fresh faces from showing up. We laughing at Xbox is us giving them hints that they are clowns who should leave stage right.

If SEGA got given a bag of money to keep themselves around, there would never have been an Xbox. It is time for Xbox to do the same as what SEGA did, for a future console. Your refusal to realize that only nutjobs want Xbox to stay forever is killing your credibility.

Correction, no good competition is bad.

Other than 2005-2009 + the 360 BC program, Xbox has never been good competition.
 
This is always funny to me. If you don't think as Nintendo as a true direct competitor (which I don't really), what has Sonys competition been the last 15ish years? Phil spencer lead Xbox?

I would agree but before they vanished they bought out half of AAA devstudios, and not gonna lie, quality of products coming from those studios fell flat.
Example being starfield, it sold gangbusters(basically only true xbox console exclusive that did proper sales numbers) but quality of the game is far from what we got used to with fallout 3, 4, vegas or elder scrolls mainline games, for other games im not worried but as a bethesda/wrpg genre fanatic i really want ES6 to be good and by now i cant be sure it will be anymore, still hyped af for it but hopefully i wont get slapped in the face :messenger_pensive:

Most of that that happened by MS with Xbox this very gen when Sony was their main competition stomping them 😂
 
They can be whatever they want, for all I care. People keep buying open-world slop, downloading F2P GaaS games and buying full priced remakes. Early adopters get excited for things like the PSVR2 or the PS Vita, only to end up disappointed by Sony's inability to support any device they put out.

Sony makes dumb decisions all on their own, regardless of whether they have competition or not. Look what they did with the PS3. Look what they did with all their Live service investments. Stupid decisions that had nothing to do with competition from Xbox.

People say Xbox pushed PS to be better. I think that was probably true for about 8 years, 2005-2013. But it hasn't been true for a very, very long time.

Personally, as much as I enjoy watching Xbox stepping on every rake in the garden department, I'm looking forward to the end of the console wars. So much wasted breath.

This list is BS.

1. MS are already expensive with current gen, next-gen will be far worse if it goes ahead.
2. PS+ is less than half the cost of Gamepass.
3. The leaks show otherwise.
4. Xbox already tried increasing the price of games, PlayStation did not.
5. Again PS+ is far cheaper at $160 per year vs $360 for Gamepass.
6. That's an Xbox exclusive feature.
7. Studios will still be making games as that is their job and they'll still be doing deals with 2nd party too.
8. Dev costs will be cheaper with Xbox gone.
9 & 10. You realise they can't undermine themselves to sell right?
