Hey I live in Japan and I will be getting new keitai soon. I really want the new Sony Ericsson W31 because it can play music and it looks really cool.

But is it any good? Does anybody here live in Japan and have that phone? I want to be able to use music on my memory stick in the phone as ringtones. Is that possible? What is battery life like?

I have done many searches but found NO real info about the phone. Any help please. thanks.

I am also in the market for a new phone and one of the phones I looked at was the W31S.

1.
I'm currently an 'au' subscriber who has had my current phone for 8 months or so. Unfortunately, the W31S is pretty darn expensive. The Sanyo W31SA has all the same features, is smaller and is half the price. Even if you are going to take a new number with the W31S it's still expensive.

2.
The media capabiilty of it is pretty cool, but from what I can see its DRM'd up the wazoo. You can transfer stuff to it but it doesnt appear as a usb storage device or anything. Gotta use Sony software to get stuff onto it.

3.
The W32 series is right on the horizon. 2ch has a few threads talking about the different W32 offerings. I also want to get a felica ic card emabled phone (so I can use edy, suica, etc) from my phone and there are rumors that the W32 phones will have those features...

Those three points made me decide that the W31S wasnt special enough for me to go out and get right now even though my current A5506T is hanging on by a thread right now....


What made you interested in the W31S over the less expensive phones that are smaller have the same features and cost less?
