Sony Planning “Some Intriguing Game Announcements” This Week

I wonder what it can be. Most fellow GAFfers are expecting GT6 news. If it is that I'm fine with it. Also, something for the Vita would be nice too.

---

On another note, what's happening or when it is releasing that game that had a flashlight on the cover and it was supposed to be Horror themed? I forgot the name, I remember that it was going to be for PS Move but it's not Move exclusive anymore.

Until Dawn.

There's been absolutely nothing from this title since last Halloween. Dunno what happened.

I would love some vita announcements but I'm not holding my breath.

GT6 is in fact ps3 only which makes it perfect for one of these side announcements.

Kinda curious about this myself. They really do need to fill out the fall vita lineup but i get the feeling they are just going to rely on indies and ps4 integration this year. :/

Sony funded Shenmue III. Believe.

It's pretty sad that SCE is publishing more big name exclusives for a seven year old platform than the one that is just above a year old.
You'll get our Jak & Daxter and Sly HD collections and you'll be happy. People always said they wanted a portable PS2 anyway.

God damn. It would be the happiest day of my life.

Personally would like to see them do an action/adventure type of game. They have already proven they can absolutely nail that genre. Not sure if they would be a good fit for a game like Syphon filter (could be wrong and they definitely might turn out to be a good fit)

I don't like them announcing games before E3, it kind of makes their actual conference really dull. Although, the PS4 should keep things fresh this year.

It is but I think the platform is at a loss in America and it might be too late to fix that.

That is exactly what they say they are working on if you read their job openings.

I would agree with this if the system didn't have enough games coming to it. It has a LOT of games coming to it. I mean I doubt a ps3 owner would look at the sw line up this year and say sony should announce more. They have done plenty for the system. This is a great year for PS3 software wise. Ideally they will focus on their struggling system...but I don't expect them to

yea! PS3 has too many games already!

quarter the hd

quarter the frame rate
Well if it was full HD and full frame rate it'd be close to a ps3 and who'd want that??

Well the ps3 doesn't need new games from Sony at this stage, especially with cross gen titles. Vita can never be salvaged to be a market leader, but if they would try they could turn it into a niche 30 million by the end of the lifetime console that'll make them a nice profit.

From the PS3 has no games to it has too many games.

It really does! I pre-ordered Last of Us and Beyond last year, I just ordered Motorstorm Pacific Rift last week, my PS3 HDD is loaded with games like Vanquish, Journey, Cave and more, I still need to beat Valkyria Chronicles and FFXIII....

Those games and more can easily keep me entertained until the PS4 launches. I wish games like Last of Us and Beyond were PS4 exclusive but whatever...

As of the end of March, Vita was at around 4M worldwide LTD in actual sellthrough, only around 2.5M of which was sold post-launch (April 2012-March 2013). The only way it gets anywhere near a 30M LTD is if (a) there's a major turnaround in sales, or (b) Sony can keep it selling at last year's rate for another decade.

If Sony themselves give up on a console they released in a bit over a year, they shouldn't be in the hardware business

There's a slight difference between giving up on a platform and giving it more attention than something like the PS3. They'll trickle out low-budget games and easy ports until they can get a cheaper model out and try to re-launch it. How much effort goes into the re-launch will depend on how things are going with their other platforms, obviously. Sony even said they were looking to push the Vita as a living-room gaming device at the PS4 conference, so I don't know if that means an HDMI accessory or a new model, but it's not dead yet.

Just a reminder, the western official Gran Turismo sites are receiving their redesign on Wednesday. The Asian sites were redesigned a few weeks ago.

From what i herd from a rep the other day is that there announcing more PS4 details within coming weeks so possibly it is PS4 related but they have alot to show....

The studio that made Folklore is dead, the employees disbanded...without the creator's vision, how will they make another folklore?

SCEJ own the IP and they can hire Yoshiki Okamoto and Takashi Shono and throw them with Japan Studio to make the game.

Get Batman: Arkham Origins, then.

A 3DS port by Armature doesn't really fit his requirement.

It is but I think the platform is at a loss in America and it might be too late to fix that.

That doesn't explain SCE Japan Studio having nothing publicly in development for the platform. I could understand if Sony were prioritizing third party acquisitions over internal development but Vita doesn't exactly have a whole lot going for it in Japan on that front.

well the earnings call is on may 9th so I wouldn't be surprised if we hear stuff on wednesday or thursday about the fall lineup of atleast ps3 and vita and then ps4 stuff would probably be closer to the week ms announces.

Oh, is Sony gonna announce all of its games right before E3 (like last year) and show nothing substantial at E3 beside PS4?

I think the games announced before E3 will just be PS3/Vita/PSN. Maybe more details for already announced PS4 games if they have a ton of stuff to show.

And yes, PS4 system/ unannounced games will be E3 IMO.

Sure but trickling games out will not do it any favors even if they do a relaunch in the future. They need to build a strong library. This was one of the biggest reasons the psp sales sucked so bad towards the ending years.

Think about this for a second...when was the last exclusive titles revealed by Sony for the vita? Gamescom last year, Tearaway. It's closing in on a year now...this shit is just embarrassing and I'm a BIG fan of the system. This is the kind of treatment that gives a system a stigma/image so to speak which will last with it for a long time to come. And I don't see sony putting a big marketing push to remove such a thing even if they re-launch it

Fact of the matter is PS3 is selling great. They have 3 big exclusives for it this year from them with ton of other games from 3rd parties. System is good and will do good in the foreseeable future. Sony NEEDS to show they have confidence in the vita. PS3/vita titles, late ports, 1-2 titles revealed once a year is not the way to do it

Sorry about the rant but I find their approach to the system really frustrating. Such a great system that deserves more

hehe well w/e I will stop my rants with that note. Not like sony listens anyways.

My guess is that Sony will have a Gamer's Day event like they did a couple of years ago. Announce games for PS3 and Vita with the E3 conference focused on PS4.

Updates on Until Dawn and Puppeteer for PS3
Update on Rain for PSN
Gran Turismo 6 for PS3
LittleBigPlanet 3 for PS3/Vita
Uncharted Golden Abyss 2 for Vita
Sly Collection Vita
Maybe Ready At Dawn has a Vita team alongside their new IP team and is developing God of War Vita.
I could have sworn I heard the rumor that Infamous was coming to Vita too.
