Sony Planning “Some Intriguing Game Announcements” This Week

Sony owns a lot of IP's, but they don't go around reviving them. This is especially true if the IP sold poorly.

sure but also many of Sony IPs that sold poorly and bombed (especially games from SCEJ like Siren) got sequels.

also first month sales mean nothing after the past few years Folklore got a big fanbase/cult following it,just search on youtube or Keek and you will see new reviews and people talking and praising it.

Fuck! Why did The Last Guardian pop into my head? It's dead. I need to get over it. Stop teasing me Sony! It's dead to me. You hear me?

But that doesn't represent sales in their pockets. Most everyone nowadays are buying/trading/selling the used game copies.

Not necessarily Sony-specific, given all the other game announcements going round at the moment, but worth mentioning that GameInformer cover reveal should be this week too (last one was a Thursday). Think the last Sony GI cover was Infamous 2?

I dunno bro...nobody talks about it on GAF, it's just seems like another mediocre launch window game that was forgotten after release. Getting the creator back, assembling a team, developing an engine etc all sounds like too much effort and money on something that will appeal to a niche audience.

I think Sony has a good handle on how to make a profitable game....The Siren PS3 had a small budget, but was still universally loved and purchased by fans of the series

Last of Us had a GI cover.

Think about this for a second...when was the last exclusive titles revealed by Sony for the vita? Gamescom last year, Tearaway. It's closing in on a year now...this shit is just embarrassing and I'm a BIG fan of the system.
Over My Dead Body, Uncharted: Fight for Fortune, Invizimals: The Alliance
, Table Mini Golf
.

But you're right, it has been a while since Sony announced a big, "core" title. But that's pretty much the same as saying it has been a while since E3 and Gamescom, since that's the events the majority of Sony's big post NGP reveal Vita announcements have been centered around so far.

I would like to see motorstorm 4. And with the power of ps4 and the ability to work with tessellation, it would be a great move to take the series to stormy waters on jet skies, boats and so on.

it still say there are bigger fans ready to get the sequel than what the first month sales told us.

you think it's a bad game is your own opinion and problem, but there are many LTTP threads and fans who love here in GAF.

yeah it also mean Sony don't just see the sales numbers,if they realize that a game is a cult classic and got nice amount of faithful fans they might bring a sequel to it,and that what I hope for.

While there are exceptions (PSASBR), Sony usually announces major first-party titles pretty far in advance of release. Actually, there haven't been many "big post NGP reveal Vita announcements" at all, because most of the system's first-party lineup was shown off back in January 2011.

In other words, there might be a couple unannounced first-party retail Vita exclusives slated for Q4 2013/Q1 2014, but if they were preparing a major, renewed first-party push kicking off in that timeframe, they'd probably have announced more than just Tearaway/Killzone/Invizimals/Over My Dead Body by now.

We're not completely sure right now. There was one retailer that also had it listed as a PS4 title.

You must admit, it's a big buzz kill to announce a PS3 GT game when everyone is excited for PS4.

It would be ok if GT6 was a 2012 game, but holiday 2013? You're basically telling people not to bother with a PS4 and certainly not with DRIVECLUB.

Shuhei Yoshida is worrying me.

it's crazy to have GT and DriveClub at the sametime/launch window on PS4,they'll need to delay DriverClub if that the case or they'll just be wasting their money this way.

yeah Shu have many questionable decisions lately.

I keep going over the various permutations in my head and think we're missing a key piece of the puzzle.

There have been some good arguments on the subject. Be interesting what Sony do.

Or that Blizzard + Sony deal spits out WoW for PS4. *Shrugs* Would be kinda cool.

Seriously though if GT6 is indeed a PS3 game as it appears it will be, there better be a Vita version.

I've never, ever, cared about Gran Turismo, but its probably their only true weapon left to save the Vita. Aside from a genuine miracle.

not sure, WoW is in a huge decline and soon to be another irrelevant MMO,however if they can get Blizzard next MMO (codename Titan) on PS4 that can be nice.

Forbidden Siren Collection for Vita, and Forbidden Siren: Blood Curse 2 for PS4?

I don't understand it either. People didn't seem wanting for GT6 on PS3 either, isn't GT5 just fine and pushes the system plenty? What can they really enhance on current gen hardware? Nobody was really complaining about the graphics and content AFAIK.

GT6 being PS3 because it's co-developed to be a Vita game, with cross-play/saves and all that stuff.. would be the only thing that could get me excited about this.

Yup, his decisions are starting to baffle me too.

Eight days revival anyone ??? I really hope they do at some point really soon.

Dead.

I totally believe Sony's going to sabotage the PS3 version's sales by announcing a PS4 port before launch. Totally.

Sony knows that I'll buy both versions. They know that I can't wait untill PS4 release. But I don't care, this is going to be a masterpiece, no doubt about that.

Thats pretty cool of them...I wonder if there will be a switch over next gen to making games profitable, but not necessarily bazillion sellers

Is this hype I see?...... -chuckles and pulls a jar out and a tear droppper- This week will either be exciting or disappointing......

I came for the disappointment.

Agree 100%

My wheel is ready for whatever GT they throw at me, though I'd prefer it not be PS3-only. Also think Drive Club may be fun depending on how realistic the physics are. Racing games don't excite me any more unless I can use my wheel and it needs to feel right.

I'm a arcade racer fan myself, so I'm in the same boat as you. GT6 on Vita this Christmas, and then next Christmas the God of War game that Ready At Dawn is working on (right?...RIGHT?!) would be amazing though. With that, funding some third party games for the system,a steep price-drop, and heavily promoting the PS4 connectivity, maybe Gamecube levels of sales (worldwide, lifetime) aren't completely impossible.

If SONY announce GTA 5 exclusive to ps4 for next gen only, then I think MS will struggle to even come close to something like that( IMO).

SAME if MS got GTA V exclusive for the Nextbox for next gen.
