Sony Playstation: First Party Studios & their Current Projects

I can't understand what happened to Dreams. The last time they streamed gameplay was last year. I wonder when the game will get released or when will they have a playable beta.

Someone posted some tweets from a person that got to play it recently and he was raving about it. It seems like it's much bigger than some think.

Ambitious project. Gotta get it right the first time with something like dreams it's only been 4 months since they were quiet

I can't imagine what skilled players will do with it if they did this already with LBP3.

So tell me friends; I'm not gonna bother wasting my brain cells and click why the sony is doing bad thread(judging from the poster's history's) so what exactly are his justifications?

UI, name change, refund policy, etc...

MS is working hard, Sony is being lazy and incompetent. MS is taking care of their customers way better.

He isn't interested in any single MS IP, and Sony is doing very well game wise, but the above is making him want Scoprio.

I lol'd.

I'm hoping Sony can open up some new full fledged studios. They've contracted a lot in terms of shutting evo down, guerilla Cambridge, Sam got contracted and sized down along with Sony San Diego. Last gen we lost zipper, incognito, etc. I felt like RAD was set to be acquired but they failed their audition with the order and now they lost supermassive to multiplat.

QD'S probably the next studio to look at in terms of Sony acquiring them. Hopefully Detroit gets a good push at E3. Last years trailer was really smart.

I expect this game to be something beyond anything done in video games.

Even if the game isn't amazing I showed the creation tools to some artist friends of mine and they were kind of flabbergasted. They were really impressed with how intuitive it all seemed and how well it worked at scaling things up and down.

And I fully plan to abuse it, the amount of ideas I have for Dreams in unreal. It's my most anticipated game of all time currently. I check Media Molecules twitter everyday to see if they have announced or reveal anything for Dreams. The thirst is really real lol.

Every once in a while they drop a screenshot and it makes me want Dreams more. This was the last thing they tweeted and it's so cute! I

Definitely intrigued with how the 'game' is received when it drops. Can imagine a lot of people will be taken-aback by it, might even coax people who don't normally play 'games' to give it a try.

That's because even if you aren't into games, make a lil music video, an interactive movie, or maybe just a regular ol painting my mind is Racing with ideas. Most of which they have showed can be done already

Dreams definitely looks like an ambitious title.

Detroit: Become Human is coming when the create your own adventure genre is at an all time high. Games like life is strange, until dawn, and all of what telltate has done has certainly increased the genre's fanbase size. With the impressive graphics and themes from battlestar galactica, caprica, irobot, and blade runner, this game could be a game changer.

I'm surprised Sony hasn't bought them yet

I think this game is going to be MM's magnum opus if everything turns out right
Breaking news: Sony has decided to cancel all internal projects to work on PS4 UI. Expect new PS4 feature every month.
Surprised that thread is still going. Guess hyperbole is the lifeblood of the GAF
;)

I feel things fluctuate here with how they're moderated at times
also sanji I am disappointed that you missed the Hermen reference

Speaking of flame war, I feel that "raise your controversial opinions" thread is an outlet to shitpost without getting reprimanded. I don't know, maybe it's just me though

You know this is not just a game but basically an entire game engine + mesh & character modeler & sculptor in a game with its intuitive interactivity without the need of game develoment knowledge. You can even import your created meshes and models to a real game engine in case you didn't know, which is something revolutionary.
This is the first in the industry. LBP3 tried that but was limited to platformer genre but still look what people could create with it.
This game has no limis now.

Edit: You can also 3D print your imported models too.

Now that one I think is fine because that's the point(never entered it tho)

3d printer baby!

Oh I realize all that, I've watched many of MM's streams. I am constantly amazed how well the engine handles everything that is going on. Like I'm literally puzzled as to what they're doing so different to be so efficient at doing so much on such an incredible scale and this isn't even considered stuff like the more gamplay focused elements. Its supremely impressive how they can create a city scape from a couple pre set shapes they combine together in some simple ways then layer, expand, stretch, deform and do so much with so little. They make it look easy at that.

The only thing we don't know yet is how much all that game creation is intuitive using the regular DualShock 4. The devs in almost all streams used double PS Move controllers which proved to be very handful in sculpting, scaling etc. I don't think all players have 2 PS Moves, except maybe those who got the full PS VR pack, and speaking about it, PS VR is hard to play with DS4 compared to the 2 PS Moves. I hope Dreams will be good enough with DS4.

Wouldn't be surprised if Sony tried and drown out the Scorpio noise when it releases.

Having Marketing rights for RDR2, Destiny 2, COD, and now Battlefront 2 should do the trick.

Thats not even including potential first party games that may come out this holiday.

Fucking lol. This seems like overkill.

Plus you drop that pro to $299 for the holiday, slim for $199? Baby, you got a stew going.

Yup. They need to do some serious bundling this holiday with all these huge games and also something first party.

And definitely drop the price on both the Pro and the slim. The timing is really good to put both a price drop and strong bundles together.

I've seen some streams where they use the DS4, in fact I think one of their in house artist it uses that instead of the moves if I remember correctly.

I think Danny just got a taste of some of the stuff I heard about (and shared here on GAF) back in Dec 2015. They are striving to have advanced performance-driven tools for audio and logic, such as the puppetry recording.

Seeing how far they can take those systems to allow for complex and fully dynamic systems in real time "levels" will be really interesting, along with limiting the player to certain things in each situation so it is playable as an actual game, rather than something you can float around in and take-control of multiple characters.

It'll be really exciting to see what Alex Owen and co. have been able to come up with and implement, as well as Dreams in VR - which the art director Kareem seems incredibly in love with.

I think there is a thermometer for the limit of what you can put on screen in this game otherwise the scene will be very crowded and performance choppy. I really hope they increase the limit on PS4 PRO and not just the resolution, allowing more props and meshes on screen, hence special PS4 PRO only levels. It has to happen. It is like developing a game on PC using a game engine and not all PCs could run all of the assets. Looking forward to how they are going to dela with that.

With how 3 was received, I wonder if Sony would make a LBP4.

LBP4? This would be suicide to do since it will be dwarfed by Dreams and the limitless possibilities it will allow compared to LBP. It is like going back to from the TOP GTA1&2 styles for GTA6 after going fully 3D open world.

Yeah, can't wait to see more and what people are going to make with it.

Also, can't wait for them to show us their own creation with the tools hopefully next time they show off the game.

Next time has to be a Beta and very soon too.

This game has no creativity limits:

Apart from those (which are new) there have been many wonders since LBP2 like those and this and this and many were since the Beta stage of LBP2 where players used glitches and bugs the devs kept for final game to create such new types of gameplay like FPS that even the devs didn't intend to do or expect to have in the game.

Imagine what players could discover and do starting from the Beta of Dreams which has more freedom than what LBP offers as default platformer genre.
