Sony Playstation: First Party Studios & their Current Projects

Just to clarify: I'm not complaining about VR support. I think it's great. Love that Supermassive is doing so much great stuff as it pushes me to buy a set.

My issues are entirely with execution more so than any content. Hence why I still really enjoyed the conference. SotC and MH:World were more than enough for me.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't when it comes to VR.

The content of the conference was fine, it was just way too short which makes the decision of having a pre-show pretty baffling. I wish having people talk on stage at E3 wasn't so vilified.

Vr only segment is terrible yet if they didn't do it they would be called out for not supporting it. So at that point I don't even wanna hear it from ppl they were gonna get hate for psvr immediately no matter what

Which is why you split it up into two shorter VR segments and space them out or better yet, don't even have a specific segment at all, just mix those games in with everything else and have a little pop-up box point out they're VR games.

Though honestly, Skyrim VR and FFXV fishing shouldn't have had anywhere near that much time dedicated to them. Cut those trailers down significantly and get Superhot VR into the damn conference.

But yeah, Primethius, I think over the last couple years Sony's gotten this idea in their heads that aside from their specific initiatives (mainly VR), ONLY the biggest blockbusters can be on their E3 stage. That's why we don't see more Japanese games (like Ni no Kuni 2) or indies (like Undertale) on there any more, they're stuck on the pre-show instead. It sucks and makes for a far less interesting and diverse show IMO.

What really brought it down wasn't the format or games announced, it's the baffling decisions to put some of their best stuff in the pre-show. Ni No Kuni 2 SHOULD have gotten stage time. Supermassives new IP should've taken the stage over one of the VR titles. GT Sport needed a trailer on stage.

But to go beyond that, I really wanted a new God of War demo and I think that was the expectation of many. The trailer was great but a demo could've really fleshed the conference out. They just needed more stuff of what they already had shown off else where. Don't hold stuff for pre-show and pre-E3 week if it results in a short show.
I agree wholeheartedly with this, was honestly quite surprised when i saw Ni No Kuni 2 and GT Sport in the pre-show, GT in particular considering how important it is to the Playstation (less so these days). Definitely should have pushed these into the conference itself.

Also surprised Sucker Punch was nowhere to be seen here, wonder what they're working on.

So many of the games feel like a derivative of LoU or Uncharted. Like, you can tell they are Playstation games.

God of War still looked dope, though.

Whens TGS again? There are 2 Bamco games i would love to see, if they're even in development. They would either be at TGS or Jump Festa.

Well, that's companies identities maybe? I mean I just watched the Nintendo direct and outside of Metroid everything looked green, pastel, and cute.

I'm not sure what's your point is?

about this one

Yeah, what's up with PS4 not joining the cross plat with PC/Switch?

Minecraft and now Rocket league.

This is such an easy way to get goodwill, should definitely tweet Shu about it.

Why does it matter what games are shown in the pre-show versus the conference? They were still revealed. I swear, some of you talk like you own the Sony E3 Press Conference box set or something, and you go back and rewatch past shows like they're Kubrick movies.

Am I the only one who finds this obsession with the shows instead of the games being shown kinda baffling? I had to work so missed the conference, watched the impressive trailers/demos when I got home, only to find folks tearing apart the platform by which these vids were released and saying everything sucks as a result.

with how much talk about policy, stances, and every single line of PR that gets a thread on here. I'm not sure GAF plays video games tbh...just discusses them and the industry.

I was in a little slump because I got burnt out of Street Fighter again and been in a game slump. But all this negativity really does take its toll if this is a real place of social interaction for you.

I just don't care about these issues man, don't got time for it. Just trying to add joy to my life and this place is always out to right some wrong.

See you guys online...

Very happy that we got release windows for God of War and Spiderman. Frustrated that Days Gone and Detroit still have no release dates. Especially Detroit, that game was revealed at PGW in 2015, its now the middle of 2017 and they dont even feel comfortable giving us a release year.

Also very concerned about Dreams and the future of Media Molecule.

I haven't bothered to go into the Sony conference thread, because I already know whats it like. I enjoyed the conference for what it was, however, I did feel bad for people who was waiting for DMC5 :/

Yeah I'll never forget the one time Nintendo talked about going on GAF. It was Iwata or someone they basically said it was GAF they went on and their first reaction was like "wow we had no idea there was people who cared THIS much about video games" wish I could find the article where he said that.

Respect to Kojima, he has shown tremendous restraint not showing Death Stranding again.

No need to feel bad we have set our sights to PSX now. I'm even more confident it will show up than I was for E3. Itsuno has confirmed his next game will be shown this year and everything points to DMC considering his not working on monster hunter worlds and DMC is a top 5 best selling Capcom franchise.

Same, but considering they already presented all the main characters I suppose it's closer to release.

Days Gone is a different thing, I hope it's a 2018 game.

Sony had the best E3 conference, hands down, and still many Gaffers have expressed how disappointed they were with the show...What the hell! The same people who complain that From and Sucker Punch's next project have not been unveiled, would have expressed a similar disappointment later, had both games been presented; Sony would have blown their load for good, and next PSX and E3 would have acted as a simple reminder of already announced titles...

Sony's E3 and PSX conferences have been insane, a letdown was inevitable.

If you look at it on paper, Uncharted, Horizon, Days Gone, God of War, Detroit, and Spiderman. Thats by far the best lineup but we already knew about those games, and Detroit/Days Gone still dont have a release dates which is frustrating.

Crossplay aside can't think of too many e3 threads in general that hasn't been shit this year.

Omni what games ya got

Bout to get Guilty Gear and Wipeout, but I'm currently working on Persona 5 and Gravity Rush 2. Back log is crazy but mostly SP games I love. Never got into Rocket league heard it was amazing and I should, will get around to it one day maybe.
