"In the gaming business, we are moving away from a hardware centric business model more to a platform business that expands the community and increases engagement." - Sadahiko Hayakawa
Funny. I'm moving away from being a Playstation centric gamer.
Corpo speak has entered the chat. That sounds a lot like the multigeneration thing Nishino said. PS5/Pro, PS6, new handheld, maybe own PC store and launcher and some streaming options. That will be the platform.
Sony's statements are weird because they are caught in the middle.I know they have to say things to make it look like they actually work and have ideas and stuff but FUCK me it's so frustrating hearing time and time again someone at the top saying stupid shit and taking dumbass decisions and getting millions on bonuses for doing so.

So all the PC ports, including day one Helldivers 2, Xbox H2, MLB on Xbox and Switch for years, and even recent Lego Horizons on Switch dont count. This kind of stuff always gets distorted in translation.
I'll believe that Sony is "going Multiplatform" when I see a new God of War, day and date on Xbox. It's not going to happen.
I see a lot of social media hype with people saying, "Sony and Xbox are both Multiplatform", as if to conflate their situations into being identical, and I just don't really see evidence for that. Sony does have games on competitor platforms, but it's very selective and specific. They haven't given up the golden goose yet, and I don't think they really need to. All the games you listed above have a significant asterisks that deflates the impact of their Multiplatform spread. So all the PC ports, including day one Helldivers 2, Xbox H2, MLB on Xbox and Switch for years, and even recent Lego Horizons on Switch dont count.
Got it.
Fair enough. We got different interpretations on what multiplatform means.I see a lot of social media hype with people saying, "Sony and Xbox are both Multiplatform", as if to conflate their situations into being identical, and I just don't really see evidence for that. Again, if Uncharted or God of War comes out everywhere day 1, I'll change my tune.
It's just degrees of multiplatform-nessFair enough. We got different interpretations on what multiplatform means.
What about H2 on PC day one? Also, most of Sony's recent games are on PC too. They just dont do day one on those games. It's just degrees of multiplatform-ness
Nintendo is obviously the least
Sony is in the middle
Xbox is fully Multiplatform.
