Since all those 1up guys are in San Francisco they had better do all that journalistic bullsh*t that they yearn for. If Luke doesnt stir up some shit at this event and find us out some concrete answers i'm gonna buy a pair of shoes (I live in Ky and apparently we dont wear them normally) and fly to SF and put my foot (clad in said shoe) up one or more of the 1up crews arses.
Red Foreman!

Hopefully he won't need to stir up some shit as Sony will demonstrate their online aspect in full. Right Sony? Right?

Btw, does this mean that Oblivion will be playable? Hopefully.

-Twisted Metal Black Announced (2000)

Oh man, I remember that demonstration. People actually cheered -- like full-on hootin' and hollerin' -- when they showed the Ferris Wheel break off and roll down the hill, taking out cars and the world with it. It really was an incredible presentation.

And I'm certainly not downplaying the possibility of seeing something new or exciting there, but I'd rather take a stance of just having loose ends tied up when I walk in the door rather than waiting on pins and needles for some kind of OMG HUGE announcement. I think playing a lot of the launch games that close to being done will be reward enough for going, but I'm a big dork like that.

[edit] Holy shit you guys are a manic bunch, aren't you? This thing is going down on my friggin' birthday and even I'm not as excited as some in this thread.

I'm expecting The Getaway and 8 days, I'm NOT expecting Killzone... it's all about Resistance... and maybe Naughtydog's game will get a name?

You're saying Twisted Metal was shown at Gamersday back in 2000 for the first time.

You know, there IS a unannounced game David Jaffe is participating on coming before the end of January (or so they say).

Hey yall.

Can't say much about it besides:

1- it is NOT a TWISTED METAL game.
2- it is NOT a massive, epic PS3 blu-ray action game. We've been in production for 7 months and will ship around December. So the scope is more in line with that kind of title.

Hope you all like it.

David

There should be atleast something of note there since it is the year of the PS3 launch. I wouldn't mind seeing a new appearance by 8 Days.

So this is what they're saving the FFVIIr announcement for.

:(

It's not FFVII that's being remade for the PS3...

It's Final Fantasy VI

Kitase might have unintentionally let the cat out of the bag around TGS '03, when he said it was the game in the series that his team actually had the most interest in remaking. :)

Ok. Sounds like it's an PlayStation arcade game of some sort.

Yeah, just what I was thinking....good to know Sony is bringing out the big guns like Jaffe to work on some downloadeable (hopefully) XBLA-esque goodness.

Jaffe saying the game has something in common with Twisted Metal, Bomberman, and others has got me curious as hell as to what it could be....

I have a feeling Sony are making standalone teams that will only focus on arcade games. They have blown their own horn earlier saying that they had a large number of downloadable smaller games being made internally. If those teams (spread worldwide) manages to release ~ 12 original arcade games each year that could be quite cool (and makes me wonder why Microsoft aren't doing this and mainly focus on 3rd parties). That actually sounds like quite a funny job as well releasing a new game from your team every 6-12 months.

I think it's pretty good that if Jaffe's game really is downloable that they've got some of their elite developers making downloable content instead of just getting random teams and devs to do it. I hope they definetly do more of that.

Absolutely. I do hope that the original gaming content that they release on PS3 is better than some of the complete shit that has shown up on XBLA (which has alot of fun stuff as well).

Well, not Ueda. He shbouldn't be doing things like this. :P

Edit: Although downloadble PS2 games were mentioned at Kutaragi's ocnference wasn't it? 1080p SoTC downloadable wouldn't be a bad thing.

I would rather they not get too engrossed in releasing better stuff than XBLA, but simply releasing more regularly. The infrequent releases on XBLA have been the biggest downfall of an otherwise excellent game service idea for consoles.

****** mentions it now as well.

We've heard the rumblings for quite awhile now, but it wasn't official until today. Sony is holding one last press gathering before the launch of the Playstation 3.

The Gamer's Day event, an invitation to "preview the beginning of the next generation", will take place on Thursday, Oct. 19 in San Francisco and feature a round-table discussion, executive presentations and a half-day of hands-on gaming time.

I suspect Sony will have most, if not all, of their launch titles on hand for playtime as well, perhaps, as some early builds of later games.

This has also got to be the event where Sony dishes the details on PSP connectivity and the PS3's online capabilities. I'm psyched... and going. Brian Crecente

Edit: Haha

'Q-taco'

ohh, i'll be in town that weekend for another event. Someone should get me a ticket so I can trample around drunkenly accosting people.

Your comments seem more than a bit ridiculous given how great GAF TGS was. Plus Japan will get a huge price drop if sony ship decent numbers of the core back, otherwise it was a paper price cut that looks strikingly similar to the last minute PSP price cut that everyone seems to have forgotten about (which also had about 100k units on the shelf then didn't show up in any reasonable quantity for the best part of a year).

fixed!

i dunno, maybe it's my Sony hatin' heart - but if you can drop the price of the base unit, but you can't drop the price of the more expensive unit, then that's going to make haters like me all the more doubtful. I'm happy to be proved wrong thout - 49800 is a great price.

I'm praying for a Wipeout trailer :)

I was a bit worried about how it'd turn out visually after seeing F1 at E3, but after its TGS appearance I have high hopes for it. That technology combined with WO's artstyle should make for something amazing.

I would like for Sony to announce/show PS3 incarnations of their other franchises like Wipeout, SOCOM 4, and Syphon Filter PS3 during their "Gamer's Day" event. Plus maybe the announcement of the Guncon3 :-(

I just want a teaser trailer for Killzone with real time graphics. Come on, give us a glimpse of what this game is looking like right now.

I'm interested in what Zipper's PS3 game is. They mentioned that it was goign to be a drastic departure from what they're currently doing. They were also searching for programmers for a large scale network game earlier this year.

I bet (hope actually) Heavenly Sword will show up...

I'd count on it. The bugged out TGS demo they had to scrap before the show will surely be fixed by then. And didn't they hint it would be used for retail kiosks as well? The timing is right.

Wardevil appeared at E3, Darksector has morphed into something else entirely (wouldn't be surprised if it were eventually canned), dunno what "zombie" game you are talking about, and Eyedentify... well, we haven't really heard much about the 'Eyetoy 2' in general. Eye of Judgement was at TGS though.

Was wardevil playable?
Darksectors website is updated with announcements coming fall of this year and it is being released next fall 07.
The zombie game was some game that realistically showed ps3 ability to render skin being pealed off. It looked really early.
Eyedentify (with the 2 girls) looked promising with its interaction with the game, hopefully they show more eyetoy two soon.

Sega's FPS Fifth Planet Saga is another game that is mia, I thought it was a launch game.

Back at E3 they said they were working on having it playable for the 3rd quarter.

Before he was banned ****** claimed it'd became one of the best looking early PS3 titles.

After seeing what Koei did with Fatal Inertia, Wipeout shot way up my list of PS3 titles I want to see. I'd also like to see what I hope will be the "real" Tekken, I refuse to beleive what was at E3 is Tekken PS3.

Lol, of course there's no way that was the real Tekken 6 at E3.

I could be wrong, but wasn't that a tech demo of some sort? I do recall seeing a video of it shot with a crappy camera.

SOCOM is a pretty good bet. ;) I remember reading that blurb awhile back but IIRC it was more like the next-gen SOCOM is what would be a departure, as in they're aiming to revamp things when they moved to the new hardware. I doubt we'll see anything on it for awhile though.
