Sony's Localization Record: Jeeze, there's a tonne of Singstar out there

Takao

Banned
The following list does not include regional localized titles by SCEI branches. For example, SCEE published Ghost Busters: The Video Game in Europe, that won’t be counted here. The titles counted here will be SCEI paid titles. As SCEI’s body of work has been so large this generation, I may miss a few titles (I probably missed three dozen Singstar, and Buzz expansions), or a few dates, if so feel free to correct me. Also, I’ll only count major territories, sorry Korea! Also, the list will only include titles intended for retail releases, if a title was released DD-only in some regions that will be noted.

With the PS3 and PSP being region-free, titles that were only regionally localized lessen the blow greatly. SCEI is also considerably more lax in regards to allowing publishers to pick up their titles for localization, unlike that other company.

I'll care! Thanks for all the work; very interesting to look over.

There aren't very many Japan-exclusive titles I'm interested in on this list. Besides Boku no Natsuyasumi 3 and Aquanaut's Holiday, whose times have passed, the only one I'm interested in is White Knight Chronicles 2. Has there been any word about a possible localization? Surely they won't pass it up after bringing the first game over.

How did I forget this... Oh wait, god damn it, I posted it, but under that obscure Japanese title...

Edit: I should mention that some voice actors have stated they're working on WKC2.

Ahh, took inspiration from my Nintendo post. I AM FLATTERED :D

Also this is a good place to know all of the games Sony has released since I've missed a ton. I only got my PS3 Slim at launch last year.

Disaster Report 4 looks good only because it reminds me of Disaster: Day of Crisis which I enjoyed the hell out of.

The first year of PSP releases are up. I'm contemplating adding Korea as there's a couple of cool looking games that were Korea-only.

Haha, yeah prior to writing this up my idea for the thread title was "There's More Than One Game In Town", but dat Singstar.

Disaster Report 4, while not a SCEI release, is in an interesting position. The first two were heavily localized by Agetec, but no one has touched the third game, which was on PSP.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
Great list!

I hope this means that Agetec will localize the fourth one since it's on the PS3.

Does Agetec even still exist?

Their last localization was Way of the Samurai 3 for the PS3 (released October 2009).

Out of curiosity, was there any difference between the 360 version (which was published by UFO) and the PS3 version in terms of localization, or were they the same base localization and just published by two different companies because one isn't a licensed publisher for the other system and vice versa?

You know what I used when making it?

The Japanese Nintendo site, Wikipedia, and GameFAQs.

Yeah, right now I'm primarily using GameFAQ's release schedule for each SCEI division. In the future I plan on having English translated titles for the crazy Japanese games, as well as maybe a screenshot or two. But that's way into the future, as I've got a stack of things I've got to slog through as it is.

You don't need to put images. That would just drive you crazy lol.

I hope Disaster Report 4 comes over though, would love to play it!

People often ask why Clap Hanz hasn't made another Hot Shots title for PS3 (they actually made a Mini-Golf game for PS3 that was PSN exclusive, and oddly never released in NA). When you see the amount of stuff they've done on PSP, you'll understand why. They made a whole bunch of releases for that GPS peripheral that never came here, as well as some other things.

Oh, it's too late for that, haha. The images thing is really just a longshot idea that's far from being the main target. The plan is to get the rest of the PSP stuff up, and then fix the PS3 stuff (the release order is all over the place, where as the PSP list is in chronological order).

I put the list in order by when the game was first released somewhere in the world if you noticed. I know that makes it crazy but oh well.

Yeah, that's how the PSP list is going to be. With the PS3, I was a little overwelmed, and decided to tackle it all at once, so everything was scattered. With the PSP I'm going by releases by each year and then switching to another region's publisher for that same year. It allows me to order everything on the Word file a tonne easier.

They haven't done anything since Hot Shots Tennis Portable though, so we need another HSG and a HST PS3.

Also, Singstar has never been localized to Japan and/or Asian markets, a very bonehead decision IMO.

For Bleach, SEGA probably only picked up the rights for the Wii and DS. I honestly don't know why they've never touched the PSP games. Naruto and DragonBall have both survived in the west.

HSTP came out in February in Japan, and prior to that their last release was Minna No Sukkiri (A Hot Shots Mini-Game Collection) for PSP that was released in September of last year. Give them a break for a bit, haha.

As for Singstar, I'd imagine the Asian companies involved may be too demanding for royalties, and based on the performance of other karaoke games (Karaoke Revolution was released in Japan, right?) Sony felt it wasn't worth the trouble.

Was there ever reason given to why Bleach Heat Soul never made it to the US?

Sony hates free money, apparently.

Seriously, it's always boggled my mind that

1. Bleach Blade Battlers 1/2 never came out here.

2. Bleach Heat the Soul 1-7 Billion or whatever number they're on now never came out here.

3. There hasn't been a PS3 Bleach game yet.

I mean, Bleach is still fairly popular over here. Sony's basically refusing free money by not releasing the games over here, or even making a PS3 entry in the Blade Battlers series. Just outsource that shit to Eighting and call it a day.

nothing beats singstar turkish party. it was funny when several us podcasts mentioned it two years ago during the games com :lol

I see you put Mainichi Issho in there, so you must be counting JP PSN games. Where is Shikitei, Janline, Ikki Online, Pachi Para and Spelunker/Spelunker Black for instance!
Incomplete list! :D

No break! Give me a new HSG and a HST PS3 pronto. It's not about what they want, it's about what I want :D

As for Karaoke games in Japan, Karaoke Joysound sold a couple hundred thousand copies on the Wii IIRC, there's definitely a market for it and even Kaz said that Singstar is one of those franchises that "gets it" (because it keeps on selling due to DLC).
