Still think it's super weird that the friends shown on your profile are the ones with the highest Steam levels instead of the priority being someone in-game/online like before.

12, but I don't want to have to trade with people to get more cards so I guess I can't make badges? The whole trading card thing just seems dumb to me. I was hoping it'd be tied to achievements like the old sale events were, I loved those.

Tying the level to badges makes no sense to me.

It's basically "pay us to increase your level"


Should be just about games bought/time played/achievements.

Definitely agree. It's worthless, as is. If you can essentially buy your level there is no real indicator of achievement and progress in the sum number. However, I'd does give some neat stats for your games.

Level 20, was around lvl 18 when I heard that every 10 levels you get a 20% increase to finding a booster pack each week so I rushed 20. Got a booster pack the next day which was kinda nice.

edit: Actually I kind of find the whole thing slimy. Really disappointed in valve.

Yep, right there with you. IIRC there was a beta of 1.6/Steam and I was in that. I bought a bunch of stuff last Holiday Sale though, so ai prolly have like over 50 games now.

How do cards work? It says you get cards for purchasing some games that I have, but every card in the list is greyed out, implying I don't have any?

Noticed levels the other day. I am a 6 as well but thought it was all based on account age, interesting. Joined in 06 IIRC.
