Both of these features are the best in the series and the best in the genre at the moment, so you will probably enjoy this game a ton.

Whats a good way to avoid getting creamed on the ground? I noticed rolling just leaves me open for more punishment so I try to block.

Pyrrha is best female Alexandra. The little details with animation they put into making her character seem timid really sell it to where it doesn't seem tacked on, and I like her a lot better than I did her mom, that's for damn sure.

Finally unlocked Algol. Had to beat an A2 ranked CPU in Quick Battle, but it was worth it. He's so awesome. I'm not very good at guard impacting and I like doing combos so he seems to be just my kind of character, since it seems like he'll mainly be using meters for his fancy, very damaging combos. Plus I'm a little disappointed with Yoshimitsu in this game.

Most damaging combo using just one Brave Edge I've found so far:
44B > 8A+B > 66bA+B+K > 4BA

Does over 100 damage. Now I've gotta find some wall combos.

Pyrrha isn't all high and mighty like Sophitia, so it makes her tolerable.

I still like Sophitia though but her dialog in pre-SCIV games annoyed me.

Pyrrha is WAY too whiny, at least regular Pyrrha. She actually runs away crying in one of her victory poses.

Pyrrha Omega is a whole other thing. :p

Get to the end boss of this mode, and prepare to rage, as the final battle puts a nail in the games coffin. This boss is so powerful she can take a third of your lifebar out in one move! That’s not a combo people, that’s a one third of your entire lifebar in one hit.

And did I mention this boss is playable?

The entire review, and most of the comments below it, remind me of a guy who is an iOS game maker that is, well, a causal gamer, bitching mightily about how "broken" UMVC3 was, and then talking shit about how the people who made it couldn't design video games. He, the game designer, cited everything that was wrong with the game.

Why did he say the game was broken?

Because he claimed neither he, nor any of the "over a dozen friends in the office" who played the game with him, could beat Sentinel's mouth beam. Standing H and crouching H.

An unbeatable move. By any other character in the game.

Worst fighting game ever, he said. He's a game designer. He should know.

This game IS SO FUCKING GDLK. Just had a sick ass match with an Astaroth inside the cage level. Shit was so intense.


First fighting game this gen I've played online and it actually felt like my experience with the genre was worth a shit. Not to mention the netcode. Not a bad match yet. I'm so hype right now.

...Ok, is it even possible to see Nightmare without his armor in CAS and NOT think that Raph=SCV Nightmare? Seriously, it's either that or a long lost evil twin.

I really hate it when cheese is the best option, ugh. I actually managed to beat Kilik after 289502530295834 tries. Then I realized it only got harder. :|

I got past Kilik second try. Nightmare was far more annoying IMO.

learn to tech roll (ukemi), hit G the moment you hit the ground. Some grounded damages are guaranteed though.

To do invites, go into Player Match, you can set a private slot, and set 2 as room size. Once your room is created, hit (I think square) shows on the bottom. Invite friend. On friend side, he can check invites, and join your room.

Or do nothing. Depending on the situation lying there can cause a lot of stuff to whiff. Teching can lead to even more damage.

I've caught so many people trying to roll away with Maxi's 66B+K...

I figure if I'm ever going to get that Ezio trophy, it's going to be now while I'm still at a low level fighting other people at a low level. :p I'll never do it once I start fighting good people.

Natsu is hella weak and far from auto pilot. Plus I think she'll get blown up in the long run because her up close game is crazy risky.

And about her damage output? Bah, go look at Yoshi if you wanna complain about high damaging lows.

In your esteemed opinions, would you guys say it's worthwhile to buy SCV if I intend to play it offline? SC, SCII and SCIV are probably a few of my most frequently used (offline) fighting games. Is the lack of content really as bad as I've heard?

I avoid going online with most fighting games, this included, because I'm a complete scrub when it's not made by Capcom :(
