I have a pretty big discount on this too, but nothing a Steam summer sale wouldn't match if it came down to that. I THINK I fixed all my orders, but I may've slipped up. I'll have to check I guess.

I just didn't think to double check the date.. I don't think i have ever gotten something like that wrong.
Blew my mind when i found out thats all it was.

I ended up putting the money on a different card and everything, was a mess lol.

People are already pissy about 13hrs when so many games charge $60 for 4hr campaigns? lol

If you're not happy with the length, don't pay full price. Simple really

And done. I spent
*correction 13.5/spoiler] hours according to steam. Did all the sidequests but 1 cause I can't find the last
homeless person (if someone who has done this quest knows where they are, let me know, it's driving me nuts!)
So unless I missed talking to someone for a quest on accident. Yep that's about it. Will get started on my review tonight or tomorrow. Got a lot to say.
Oh lord no.

Since steam wasnt counting your time correctly earlier, I'll assume it's slightly longer, but now I'm worried that it's going to end before it gets a chance to fully explore the concept in depth.

Still, hoping i can pull about 20 hours out playing on hard and exploring everything.

Edit: also, at that short, i would just rent it if i wasnt getting it for for $30, which is a great price.

Honestly I think 13 hours is a good thing. The longer a game is the less likely I'll replay it IMHO. I'm more likely to do 4 playthoughs of a 13 hour game than 4 playthroughs of a 50 no matter how good the 50 hour game is.

Most longer games I tend to play once and usually never play again. I love South Park and I'm sure this will be hilarious and with the shorter length I'm way more likely to play this multiple times! Nothing can deflate my hype for this game! I've been waiting way too long.

Wow this is becoming video game Limbo. How low can it go?

I am happy I bought the game on PC because people that are playing the PS3 version are claiming that there are stutters during the main town and that the general performance isn't all that great.

Some of the PS3 settings are as follows:

demo_mode = false/true
disable_warnings = false/true
censored_archive = ( I guess here you enter the archive name, is an .oaf file )

enable_postprocess = false/true
enable_depth_of_field = false/true
enable_bloom = false/true
enable_antialias = false/true
enable_color_correction = false/true
enable_color_controls = false/true
enable_fog = false/true
enable_heat_haze = false/true
enable_transparent_depth = false/true
motion_blur_enable = false/true
motion_blur_scale = 0.5
motion_blur_max_length = 0.3
movie_sharpen_amount = 0.0
movie_sharpen_radius = 0.0
scaleform_edge_aa = 1.0

shadow_quality= 2
msaa = 2
support_aspect_ratio_4_3= false/true
default_display_conversion = box
dist_fade_duration = 0.5
dist_fade_in_range = 40.0
dist_fade_out_range = 45.0

I guess most of these and probably more will also be there on the PC.
That's all I could find GAF!

jesus christ Obsidian strikes again

I can get the PS3 version cheaper than the PC version but now I don't know what to do.

What's wrong with renting it instead of spending $70 after tax? Because I'll be able to finish it in just 13 hours, I'm happy to rent it (and probably love it) for now.

I'm a rabid South Park fan so maybe I'm crazy but this game seems like the real fucking deal and I want to "vote with my wallet" and show that I want more games like this. Rent it if you want but don't complain when it sells like shit and we don't get more games like it because a perception that it's not long enough. What the hell does that even mean?

A person playing the PS3 version says it looks great, no tearing, but it stutters in the main town. The day one patch notes says something about hitching, so that might be fixed or greatly reduced. But yeah, after New Vegas, I remain skeptical the game will run all that hot on PS3.

Do we know if it's 1080p? I can maybe deal with a shoddy framerate in town if it at least looks good. 720p upscaled stuff doesn't tend to look too great on my plasma

Kinda disappointed to hear its 13hrs, even with all the sidequests.

I'm still hyped. I'm not gonna skip out on a South Park game, that plays like Paper Mario.

"This game is amazing, wonderful, 11/10, the best game ever! Oh, and it's 12 hours long"

What, 12 hours?? Not worth buying.

Its so strange to hear that value proposition.

I would much prefer a tightly controlled and solid experience over an artificially lengthened one.

Nope. Nobody has said anything about that. I'm sure its only 720p. Very few games on PS3 run 1080p.

Paper mario the thousand year door is exactly the same type of game and it has no bloat at all.

Why does this argument keep popping up? Good RPGs are decently long without bloat.

I was hoping it would be around 13 hours for just the main quest missions. ~13 hours for the entire game including side quests is disappointing for me :(

I'm disappointed by the length because:
1) I've never heard of an RPG being this short.
2) I don't like turn-based RPGs, so exploration and side quests are particularly important to me in this case.
3) They've been working on the game for 3-4 years so I was expecting a longer game.
4) Matt and Trey have indicated they don't plan on making another South Park game, so this is likely all we'll get. Therefore, more content would have been great.

That said, I don't see what the big deal is. I said I'm disappointed with the length and performance issues and so I might rent it for now (with a possible purchase later). I'm still going to love the game and enjoy the experience.

Me too. It's why I replayed ME2 with all of the classes, but haven't replayed Skyrim, FO3, and FO:NV once.

I guess I shouldn't expect Obsidian to be on par with Ancel's team at Ubisoft that somehow got Rayman Legends to 1080p/60fps on PS3. Still can't believe a game with such a basic style is neither of those.

Might just end up waiting till the PC version is under $30 now unless PS3 versions ends up to be not so bad.

What is worrying about that number is that, for me, the steam count is always inflated.

Wouldn't surprise me if his actual completion time is less than 13hrs

Thirteen hours, four classes, thirteen times four is 52, FIFTY HOUR PLUS GAME CONFIRMED!!!!!

:p

I do kinda wish it was longer (my hopes were for around 20), but as long. as the quality is there I'll be happy.

Paper Mario has a ton of areas that aren't exactly essential to the main story, also it's not fully voice acted. While you can argue the definition of "filler" and whether you can have good or bad filler.

Personally, I'll just be waiting for that autumn or winter steam sale.

To each his own, but I'd rather buy and support this game because that's the direction I want the industry to in.

Same reason why I'm not going to buy Ground Zeroes, or the XBONE while it packs a kinect.

hahaha...i think thats the perfect way to honor south park. i could see them doing an episode with that as the central theme

You've never heard of games like Chrono Trigger or Super Mario RPG?

If I get 13hrs of what I saw from the 13-minute clip, I'm IN! I'd much rather have 13 great hours compared to 20 or 30 so-so hours. This hasn't changed my decision to get the game in any way.

As long as she doesn't notice. :)

Whatever you do, don't bring takeout to the room while she's not allowed to eat anything. I'm still reminded of that one regularly.

No, people mentioning them in this thread is the first I've heard of them. Are they turn-based also? All I can say is I've never played an RPG that has been under 20 hours. Again, if others are happy with the length - that's awesome. And I know I'm going to love the game. I just wish it were 5-10 hours longer.

Having recently gone through it, I'd argue it has quite a bit of bloat actually. Not that this game is gonna be completely not guilty of stuff like that, but it's worth considering.

I don't think the design of this kind of RPG can lend itself to a lot of gameplay hours like others do, but it does fall on the short side of the fence compared to others.

Disclaimer: I really liked Paper Mario: TTYD regardless of those complaints.

You've never heard of Chrono Trigger? Dear god.

It's only the greatest RPG ever made. And yes, turn based. And Mario RPG has the same battle system as South Park.

Play chrono trigger. NOW.

You've never heard of games like Chrono Trigger or Super Mario RPG?

Both games are around 20 hours or so, longer than south park.

Haha well I've only been really into gaming for the past 5-7 years. Maybe that has something to do with it. Plus that's really not the kind of game I like. The fact that it's South Park is the reason I'm interested in this - it's gameplay doesn't appeal to me. Which is why I was hoping for a ton of exploration and many side quests.

WHAT?! It's just two of the best RPGs ever made! But yes they are turn-based. The combat in Super Mario RPG influenced the combat in this game though. If you enjoy this game you should definitely try both of those you won't be disappointed.

I wouldn't mind it being 5-10 hours longer either but from the impressions I've read so far I won't be disappointed at all with this game.
