What's This
This is an action comedy space adventure from the director of Cowboy Bebop. It's intended to be an episodic oldschool scifi romp inspired by stuff from the 70s and 80s, emphasizing on wacky settings and crazy ideas. Various creative talent were brought together to give each episode a unique flavor with unique alien and planet designs. Watanabe describes the series as "Mushroom Samba every week" in the context of Cowboy Bebop.
Many writers, directors, and designers who worked on Cowboy Bebop and other notable anime films and series will be working on this series. Some names of particular interest include Keiko Nobumoto - a screenwriter who helped create Cowboy Bebop and scripted Tokyo Godfathers with Satoshi Kon, Masaaki Yuasa - the eccentric director of Mind Game and Kick-Heart, and Katsuhiro Otomo - best known for the Akira movie and manga.
