Special Collection Pics Thread (56K, upgrade pls)

If that's how much it cost when it first came out, why not?

MSRP was $59.99, so not quite. I'm seeing complete, boxed copies going for $10, so I think this should be closer to 30-40. But this is the only sealed copy I can find anywhere. If it was perfect, I would think the price was OK. I'm going to try grilling the guy a little bit... he's selling Mario Party 3 for more than $200, so it's a long shot, but maybe I can squeeze a better price out of him.

So maskrider, what do you need to complete the collection? Korean versions?

PS2 US version of SH4
XBOX US version of SH4
PS2 PAL version of SH4
XBOX PAL version of SH4

They are cheap enough already, but I simply can wait a while longer, ha ha.

Ah. I take it you didn't enjoy SH4 enough to import all those versions, or you waited for a good price... nice. Can't wait to see updated pics. :D

BTW, did you ever acquire the GBA Silent Hill or do you not count it?

Unable to acquire it at a reasonable price yet, ha ha ! I can wait because I will probably not play it, just get it.

Do you play all the different versions (localizations/greatest hits/etc) of every SH game you own then? ;P

helms.jpg

This is my Lord of the Rings Helm collection thus far. I still have 6 more of the
1/4 scale helms on preorder so its a work in progress. The bottom two are full scale helms.
The Gondorian Guard helm is real hand forged metal work with full leather interior.
The High Elven helm is resin cast.

Closest thing I have to a special collection. The PSOne/5key stuff isn't near the whole series (missing six titles?), though the PS2 stuff (IIDX) is every release. Doesn't really count because there aren't many frivolous purchases, though. :P

A couple of MGS items I have.

And a genuine Parker Pen, never used (Its stored in my MGS Box Set)

Does this look like it's worth $69.85? The guy was nice enough to take a few pictures at my request...

god no.

this is why game collecting drives me up the wall. i bought a new copy of that game for like 5$ last year. there were a ton of them just laying around. i dont even remember what happened to the thing. probably sold it for like fifty cents at gamestop.

also the game is ugly and unfun.

who ever did it, don't post my collection pics on 4chan. Get a life already.

Yeah, I saw that on there. I was like "Wait a sec.. that's from GAF." Then again, it's not the first GAF picture I've seen posted on 4chan. :lol Someone on here must like posting pics on 4chan. :p

My Mega Man / Rockman collection (part 1)

Mega Man X3 is the only U.S. MM game that I don't have the box for. The Rockman 2 box is signed by Keiji Inafune. The NES cart in the lower right of the picture is a review ROM for Mega Man 4. Not pictured (because I forget to dig them out) is the Game Gear game (complete with box) and the Japanese version of Network Transmission for GameCube.

Mega Man / Rockman collection (part 2)

There are some DVDs and strategy guides mixed in with the games here. I have a complete version of Mega Man: The Wily Wars, but only the cart for Rockman Mega World. That toy shaped like X's helmet to the left of the GameCube Anniversary Collection is a virtual pet-style game.

Mega Man / Rockman collection (part 3)

This is mostly manga and soundtracks. The Mega Man NT Warrior VHS (in the large, Disney-style box) in the upper right is a promo video that Warner Bros. sent out before the anime started airing in the U.S. The video in the black sleeve below it was sent out by Capcom...it has a couple of Mega Man TV ads on it. The upper left of the pic has two art books. Also note the fairly old Japanese manga (from Rockman 6 & 7). Not pictured are a ton of action figures and other such odds 'n' ends.

Hey, I don't know if you'd be interested, but I recently grabbed the old Megaman Cartoon VHS tape from a video store here in Australia

It's fairly ratty unfortunately. Does work though. Are you interested at all?

Cool. Where's the Arcade controller though?

Owned by my girlfriend as I sit around being kinda jealous. :(

Really, though, I just don't think I can justify purchasing one. I like using it, but it's really fucking loud, it would take up a LOT of space in a dorm, it's expensive as sin, and quite frankly, the original controller is fine. I can't see a solid increase in my playing with the ASC, so I'm not really going to bother with one. If someone dumps a bunch of money in my lap, I'd buy two of them for the sake of completion.

Damn, I wish I was you....

How's the IIDX controller? I'm lookin to get one soon along with some of the IIDX games.

The Standard controller is fine to start playing with, and probably fine to keep playing with forever. The only problem with it is that if you play like a fiend, you'll need to crack open the key panel for cleaning. I probably put 100+ hours into the game during the first month of owning it, and one of the keys started to slightly stick at that point. It's very easy and safe to do, so no worries. The arcade-style controller is absurdly expensive (you will NOT spend less than $250, probably closer to 400), but has clicky switches in place to prevent sticking.

In my dreams, the American IIDX controller will be remodeled like the recent Pop'n Music standard controller release. The old pop'n standard was sticky and nasty, the new one I like more than the arcade-style.

The tambourine game, nice.

Thanks for the thought, but I actually have the U.S. release of that tape already (it's in the third Mega Man picture). But again, thanks anyway. :)

I'm not going to play it, so it doesn't matter if it's ugly. I just want to be thorough. Gotta catch 'em all. :D Anyway, I found a couple of places that apparently have it on "special order" and available to ship in 8 weeks, and they're charging less than $30. I'm going to give that a shot, and if that $65 + shipping copy has sold by then, big deal...

i have something that non of you have and that is the 10th million model of Playstation" not for sale" :D

its blue and has a rubber feel to the paint. it came with 2 matching dual shocks and a silver memory card

A lot of impressive collections here, I'll see what I can do with the things I collected over the past few years. It ain't much compared to what most of you guys have, but just give me a few days to sort everything out hehe...

Edit: Ok, small update, only two shots of my RPG-centric collection. It ain't much and I know I am missing some must-have titles, but it's a start right? For the record, I myself live in The Netherlands and haven't had the time, and of course money, to get the latest titles. Missing are: Phantom Brave, La Pucelle: Tactics, Skies of Arcadia, Final Fantasy Origins, Breath of Fire IV, Persona series, Xenogears, Radiata Stories, Baten Kaitos and probably some other titles too. I'll get them sooner or later.. ;)

Oh, and for another record, later this week I'll post some more collections stuff, which is not only games of course.

Thats the most interesting collection in this thread by far. I saw some of the prices of items like a sting replica and such and was in shock.

Nice! I'm going the RPG collection route, as well, only I'm aiming to own every US released RPG for consoles and handhelds. Off to a pretty good start, I think. And really, between that, you posting pics of your collection, and a few GAF members bugging me for some of mine, ...well, I'm just really wishing I had a digicam right about now. :(

Anyway, yeah, you're off to a great start! You've got a lot of classics there, and I'm sure you'll be able to fill in the holes in due time. Good luck! :)

I hate to contribute to this thread without photos, but my collection's in Texas and I'm in Japan...

In any case, my favorite "sub"-collection I have is a complete set of greybox Infocom games with all tchotchkes. Of course, they're for like 7 different mid-80s PC platforms, but I actually do have one of each greybox.

I also have like 150 physical NES carts, which is mostly exciting in that I gathered it together pre-eBay.

Not pictured: Final Fantasy 7 International, FFX US, FFX-2 US, FFMQ US, FFTA US

Yeah, technically the SaGa games aren't FF, but still....
