I just had a vision which we could use for our ad campaign - a muscular guy with construction helmet and a gun with its grip designed like classical Swiss Army knives! Now, we can just hope Kojima-san will notice us and licence it for his next MGS :D

New interview with David Hayter

Nerd Reactor: You’ve recently tweeted about Metal Gear – your involvement or non-involvement, and there are fans that still believe that you’re in it, because they think Hideo Kojima is trolling them. Or maybe you signed an NDA?

David Hayter: No, no. I never signed any NDA. When you’re not in a game, it’s very difficult for them to get you to sign anything pertaining to it. It’s disappointing that fans still believe I’m gonna be in it, because I think that reduces the pressure that should be put on Konami and Kojima to bring me back. So I’ll say it again, I’m not in the game. In any way.

Nerd Reactor: There’s a petition out where fans want you back in the game.

David Hayter: I think there’s a couple of petitions. They put together thousands of thousands of names. I haven’t checked it recently, but yeah, it’s out there somewhere. [The petition already has over 20,000 signatures and can be found here.]

Nerd Reactor: What do you think about Kiefer Sutherland’s performance?

David Hayter: I saw the promos, and I saw Kiefer in there. Otherwise I think he’s a great actor, and I’ve met him, and spent a little time with him. He’s a super nice guy and I respect him immensely. It just feels different from what we were doing before. But I’ve got nothing bad to say about the man. He’s a stellar Canadian. I respect him immensely.

Pack it up Team A, we've lost

After reading that interview we are literally standing on the edge of the crater I'm a FFXV and TLG believer so I will stay true to the cause to the very bitter end.. #TeamA

I put the smug smiley on Hayter's mouth cause i don't believe him :P

Holy crap, this has been my reasoning all along for being Team B. I want Hayter back as Solid Snake, and don't think Kiefer should be fired, but I also believe the fans haven't been putting enough pressure on Konami to make his return a possibility if Konami's intention was to remove him completely as both Big Boss and Solid Snake. I feel like we could still influence that, seeing as neither Kiefer or anyone else has technically occupied Solid Snake's role (yet).

Oh man, i see it coming. Team A will lose so many members after that interview :lol

Loyalty to the end!

Wanted to ask you if that's an actual quote from somewhere and - holy hell, Jackie Brown? That just moved up on my to-watch list. Gotta get ready for the Hateful Eight :D

Oh, thanks for the clarification, you had me worried for a second there :P

Ah goddamn, such a shame we can't have that other thread. It would have been GLORIOUS!

Done.

Who else? Go Go Team A!

mgsv-kopieexdmv.jpg

Team A and all that, but what do we do when the the after credits phone call is done and there is still no sign of Hayter?

I'm worried he's right about Konami being off the hook, but I would like to think they have more awareness then that, and are very much aware of the boiling backlash of the Phantom Hayter.

What do you mean with "what do we do" we do nothing, Team A lost. The end.

My team hangs their heads in shame and i lose mine because since the beginning did i push this theory that Hayter voices Solid Snake in TPP. So i want to be the Boooo man if this turns out to be false.

Edit: Do you want me to add you on that pic?

I can't think of a single work with an anti-war message that doesn't have guns in one form or another. You can't really show their devastating effects without them being in it, I suppose. MGS tends to reward you more for not taking a life as opposed to killing, at least since MGS2, so it's ironic that a game that has grown over the years to have such a dim view on violence actually funds companies that create instruments that can be used to perpetrate such violence.

I guess I am one of "those" gun-control proponents, although I'd say I'm more anti-bullets (XD) If I'm honest, I do like guns (and indeed violence) in a fantastical, cathartic and even fetishistic sense, but I'm not too keen on the idea that my fantasies (so to speak) pay towards funding instruments that can be used to commit real-life violence, if that makes sense?

Cars aren't designed to kill, so that's not really a fair comparison... and let's not talk about "realism" in Metal Gear. ;)

I absolutely love talking about realism in an MGS game. That's part of the draw. Just because a portion is over the top or sci-fi doesn't mean that MGS is all about fantasy. It being grounded in realism in military and other real world tech makes it great.

I personally never kill in an MGS game. I love going through stealthily and perfer to stun/tranq guards. That doesn't mean I don't care if the weapons are fake, though. There's a certain amount of gun porn that I like. We certainly know Big Boss likes it too, based on that scene from MGS3 where he meets up with Eva. :)

Gun manufacturers don't care to whom they well weapons and routinely contribute to ethnic cleansing. It is perfectly reasonable, and natural, for one to want to avoid funding these companies. I don't want any part of it myself.

But go ahead and ignore that if it gets you to sleep at night.

I buy guns & ammo from gun manufactures and I love additional realism in games with real weapons, gun porn. So that being said, I must love ethnic cleansing, genocide, mass murders with weapons? People kill people, guns don't.

Oddly enough, the Japanese version had Miller say, "They fucked us!" as opposed to the fiddle line. Odd that they censored that for the western version.

So i guess this is the appropriate time to invite team A over to team B...if you can't have hayter, might as well pull for a SS appearance, amirite?

My problem with this is the fact that MGS traditionally got the rights for the weapon names from Japanese airsoft companies, I.E. Tokyo Marui who don't even pay for trademarks in the first place.

Quoting for emphasis because to be honest I don't think anyone read my post. T_T

I really hope they do use real weapons, as a weapons enthusiast I find the current designs interesting but to be honest I will miss real weapons in my MGS.

Team A forever!!!!!

Until I have seen the game upto the end credits, no interview is convincing me otherwise.

Sn4ke_911

I am still on Team A.

If he is on an NDA, he will obviously say 'I haven't signed an NDA'

But honestly, my heart broke a little when I read that interview. I think this may be it.

Time to let it go, Boss.

Edit: Following up my two earlier piece of evidence, I will soon present the biggest evidence of all. Make sure you have the ears to listen it. I will post that soon.

Sorry I missed this. Is that true...? Have you got a source?

People kill people, guns don't.

Not sure if seriously using a Fox Network programme to make an actual point...

Arms manufacturers don't kill people, they simply exacerbate armed conflicts with total disregard for their part in increasing the death-toll and the duration of the conflict... all for a quick buck.

The situation in the Sudan (1983-2005) is a particularly abhorrent example of this.

I prefer the fiddle!

I never said arms companies are stand up people, but at the same time, they're a company looking to make money. Is there a source showing how these specific companies solid high amount of weapons specifically to these groups in Africa? Just because they may have sold it to a 3rd party and then that 3rd party sold it to the militants in Africa doesn't mean they're pro 'kill them all & give me money'.

Well, they are selling guns and ammunition, so I would say they're pro 'kill them (all) & give me money'. Or, are we going to talk about some form of guns and ammo deterrence and about gun manufacturers only wanting to sell their product so people can be safe from other people who also buy those same products?

I have bought guns. I own 2. I like guns. I'm a weapons enthusiast. Do you think guns should be nonexistant? When guns didn't exist, people killed other people with different weapons or their bare hands. Say what you want about gun manufactures, it doesn't change the fact that I, as well as others, would strongly prefer real world weapons in MGSV just as it was in past games. I'd rather this not turn into a gun debate. I don't care if you do or do not like weapon manufactures. I stated my concern with the weapons in game and why, so that's that.

I don't like guns (like it wasn't obvious), and I'd pretty much like for them to be nonexistent, but I'm also aware that's (pretty much crazy in this world and that it is) not gonna happen any time soon, just as I'm aware people are going to kill other people regardless of them having guns or not (but, I would argue that having guns so easily available raises the risk of gun violence).

Anyways, I'm not arguing the fact that there are people who'd like real guns in MGS. It's just that, as I said in my first post in this thread, I'd prefer them using fake ones if that means that none of my money goes to gun manufacturers. I'd rather have them fixing gameplay issues like instant alert, reflex mode balancing and - here comes one shallow complaint - that annoying pop-in of scenery in the mid-distance, than spending any resources on pursuing gun licenses, so I'd prefer if those were the questions they get to answer in that Facebook interview that sparked this whole discussion.

Although, it is interesting that they apparently didn't license guns from the real manufacturers, as RoyaleDuke said. I wouldn't have the problem if they used those airsoft licenses (or however they are called) again, if it means that none of my money goes to gun manufacturers.

Fair enough. I did indeed ask about the gun thing on facebook, so I hope it gets answered. The alert and reflex bits aren't broken, it's how they want the game to be. I don't agree with it, as I'd rather have it MGS2 shoot out the radio style. I feel it'd make more sense if they had to go sound an alarm or call it in.

I think we should all still try to push Konami/Kojima into making Hayter a part of the game, even if we believe he already is in. I'm going to sign some of those petitions.

I don't know about you guys but i'd feel terrible if it turns out he's not in the game and we did nothing to help rectify it.

If you are a David Hayter/Snake/MGS Fan, I am sure you must be well aware about his grunts. Just as his voice, Hayter's grunts are also pretty iconic.

You just need to listen this audio carefully. This is Hayter. There are no two ways about it. I have compared the grunts from the previous games and it matches it.

I am sure many people will disagree but am equally sure that fans of that iconic voice will realize it instantly.

As someone who's been a fan of Hayter since the beginning and never once thought he needed replacing, I respectfully disagree.

I personally don't think Kojima should be "pushed" into it. If Hayter had zero involvement with TPP or even the MG series as a whole from now on that would be pretty rough for my feels, but does it honestly warrant pressuring Kojima into including him in his works?

Truthfully, I'd rather creative freedom not be encroached.

With all this fuss about whether Hayter is gonna be in, it would be funny see how Hayter fanboys react when Solid Snake is shown at the end, voiced by Sutherland, whilst Big Boss is now voiced by Richard Doyle.

Dead link bruh.

Edit: it miraculously started to work. Is that where Big Boss is shooting Diamond Dog soldiers? That's Kiefer's grunt bro. If Hayter is in the game by any sliver of a chance, it's not Big Boss that he's voicing.

TEAM A HERE!

You know what that first moan sounds familiar to Hayter but why would he play a Diamond Dogs soldier? (maybe controlled by kid Mantis cause it looks like they behave like zombies) and more important who get's killed? i sure as hell think if they bring back Hayter he has a very important role and imo it can't be no other than Solid fuckin Snake.

There are two moans here. One is low pitch and the other is high pitch. In my mind, there are no doubts, this is Hayter. Sutherland has a higher pitch than Hayter. This is no Sutherland here. My initial assumption was he was returning back as Solid Snake but Big Boss? I don't know what is going on in MGS 5 anymore.

I respectfully dis-agree with your opinion but am sure, it's Hayter. I am not here to start a new conspiracy theory but there is a lot we don't know about The Phantom Pain. And yes that is from when Big Boss is shooting Diamond Dog soldiers.
