I haven't been following this game at all

What ever happened to this guy?

mask.jpg

It was simply a Kojima troll when revealing The Phantom Pain as MGSV.

No problem! But yeah, if you look at the Big Boss version it's now hilariously inaccurate :P

And speaking of Liquid and Parachuting... I played MGS1 back in the 90s and somehow it actually took me until last year that I noticed you can find Liquid's parachute from where he escaped the Hind. Felt so stupid lol

Also never saw this either:

Some of the easter eggs in these games are crazy. I hope we still get a lot of them in Phantom Pain, even though it's gone open world.

Thanks for the parachute and mono tv vids... Hadnt seen them I don't think...

A mono tv?...

I'm actually considering to print that team A pic of yours, Sn4ke.

Then take it with me to Gamescom.

Find Kojima.

Ask to take a pic with him.

While holding the team A picture...

I can't wait to see his reaction and/or grin when they translate to him what the pic represents...

Get a video of him posing with you if possible so that we can analyze his facial muscles for truth reveals and release date nuggets!

Team A ...too stronk!

I'm not even a Metal Gear Solid fan these days, but I hate seeing this trend of the old guard being replaced by newer blood (even though Keifer is older than David I think, but shhhh). It hurt when Michael Ironside left Splinter Cell, and it damn well hurts to see David Hayter having his iconic role(s) given to someone else. Stick ol' George on that image if you would be so kind.

the guy that replaced Michael Ironside did an awesome job. latest splinter cell was amazing. best entry imo. but i get you. i was on the skeptical side of them changing VO actor.

It's an obvious Kojima troll, Hayter is defiantly gonna be playing Snake.

Wait what?

I can't watch this live since I'll be on vacation with my girlfriend and her family. I'm watching it later that night.

Don't worry, pretty sure Konami will upload the show or at least put the gameplay footage afterwards on their youtube channel.

This is gonna be sooo much fun, I think Ill go there. Since its free and first come first serve (except some ppl that have VIP tickets).. it should work out alright. The place its in has 1600 seats. Wonder if they'll manage to fill it up.

Manage? I'm pretty sure they could fill those seats 10x for this demo. The thirst is real. And I don't know what team I'm on. Probably C. Eh.

i didn't have twitter until recently... but it is strange that it won't translate for you. Even google attempts to auto translate for you. :(

Yea... no idea who this guy will be... friend or foe?

Does twitter give you a translate button on desktop or mobile for Japanese tweets? It did for me until about a week ago.

I'm thinking foe. He looks too old and scraggly to be a friendly, imo. Codetalker... I'm thinking he'll be a boss fight.

Can you imagine how awesome a sniper boss battle will be in TPP's open world? The End 2.0.

I don't get many options on twitter... i do use SilverBird on my chrome to look over Twitter. That or on my nexus.

EDIT: I just looked on the twitter for Kokima... it translated it for me automatically. This is his last tweet.

Cheers for good work was recorded. A long time, it was a luxury recording of luxury members today. Mikami-san, Osaka-san, Otsuka, and Sugita-san.

Yea... who knows... he looks so peaceful.. maybe he'll mess around with BB mind.

I am sure there will be a sniper confrontation at some point in TPP, and it'll be epic. It'll prbly last a long time too. >_<

While i agree the game is fantastic but this does not compare in any way, shape or form to this.

I was on the fence... and i do miss Michael, he was just Sam Fisher. But the new guy did really well. Never bothered me a bit, and i think he delivered his lines properly and in an engaging way. By the end of Blacklist i didn't even think about Michael Ironside. No idea why they let Michael Ironside go for this one. TBH tho... Blacklist is one of my fav games. I wanted all kinds of gameplay elements from BL to come to MGS. MGS surpassed all of those with GZ tho.

EDIT: i just looked for some info... i found this.

http://youtu.be/WGsPhdvYT1E

It makes sense to me. I did think that overall... all characters, including Sam came to life in such a great way in Blacklist.

Also.. Blacklist OST is amazing. Man.. what a game. Now i want to play through it again.

Yeah, it's the same excuse that Kojima is using for why he changed DH to KS. I am in the mindset that if someone want's something they can achieve it. I am sure Ubisoft just thought it was expensive to have MI do Sam Fisher while a stunt double does his intense stunts.

I don't think MI is unable to push someone or choke hold him for abit. Heck, Clint Eastwood did more in Gran Torino and he was 78 years old. MI is 64 years old as of now. I just think it's a weak excuse to be honest and it isn't like MI is not an already established actor. Aside from that though, I loved the game alot but i really did miss MI because i have been with SC since the beginning.

Things just didn't feel "right" despite me enjoying the game.

the metal gear situation is definitely different from the SC situation. replacing ironside sucked because ironside was awesome in the role. hayter has been downright bad in recent games. sutherland and ironside are also very accomplished actors. SC replaced him with an unknown, kojima got someone who is an objectively superior actor.

Clint is Clint tho... he was so badass in Gran Torino. Maybe he should be Sam Fisher!

I am sure Ubi had some say on it like you say. But i think back to Blacklist and the game really made you feel like a badass... i felt more attached to Sam this time around because of the presentation and delivery of dialogue. I can't really put my finger on why. I guess Michael Ironside just has that iconic gruff and deep voice that is Sam Fisher.

With GZ i like the changes. Keifer really has given BB subtleties in his VO. The way he emphasizes certain words, or the pain he is in... i think he brings the character back to life, and its something that Hayter just has not been able to do in all the MGS games he has been involved. I try to listen to his lines and they all kinda sound exactly the same. So maybe this is becoming more of a consistency issue to bring characters to life. I am all for it tbh.

Splinter Cell was never about the character of Fisher, most of the time he was a standard "badass" agent for players to plaster themselves onto. Ironside did a great job of course, but the series doesn't lost it's soul by losing him.

Hayter, on the other hand, became synonymous with Snake. The overly gruff voice, the panting, the "Llllllliquid" and "Metal Geeeer?" pronunciations; all those things became a crucial part of Snake.

Speaking of which.....

Here's a new banner for #TeamC (even if no one wants to join)

hahahaha great banner. Poor snake... he should be wearing a robe. Or maybe just showering crying, like Tobias in Arrested Development.

I agree on the SC comment... Blacklist really nailed, at least for me, to make me the player feel like a badass. I loved every moment of that game. I think GZ is following those same principles, but with a character that has a lot of depth.

I think a character that is defined by one liners tend to end up being very superficial. I can callout more quotes that have meaning from Trailers of Keifer as BB. Than Snake. Also, i can callout more quotes from other characters in the series, like Otacon, Revolver Ocelot, even the amazing delivery of Liquid. As far as i can tell. Hayter had the weakest delivery of VO from all previous MGS characters. Except for maybe Raiden. But i dislike Raiden so i am biased.

Great job immortal-joe

But I seriously don't understand why there is even Team B or C tbh

Because when Teams A and B lose, someone has to be there to hold them, to keep them sane.

Then we'll all go to Team D's HQ and have whatever the hell they're smoking, cause believe me, that is some strong shit.

Am I still part of #TeamC if I think someone in MGSV will talk about SS but his character won't be in the game?
