So it looks like guns are for protecting your area by killing others whereas rollers are mostly for covering large areas with ink.

That was fun, better than I expected. Probably still not going to be getting it day 1 because of the dumb shit they're doing on release, which is a real shame on Nintendo's part.

Pre-order confirmed, that was brilliant fun.
My heart was racing for the countdown at the end of every match. Really started enjoying it when I tried the Splattershot Jr., which I didn't expect, thought I'd prefer the Rifle.

Rollers are easy if you see them coming and they are just painting. Their wave attack is annoying as shit though if your too close. Certain maps they could be a problem if your in a tight space.

Hell yeah that was a lot of fun, roller isn't op people are just bad and don't know how to play.

5 maps at launch might be a concern hopefully they role out more quickly, though after an hour on 2 maps I only want more Splatoon!

Tried splattershot, splattershot jr, and the roller.

Dig that roller :)

A few of them covering the map and a sniper with highground and a splattershotter makes for a good team.

Got the hang of almost all of the weapons/subweapons except for the Charger. Roller is a lot of fun just [very] literally painting a path for you and your partners.

Managed to win all of my matches in the whole hour.

Anyone seen the lab coated players in their matches? I ran into one myself.

EDIT: I'm currently at a hotel with decent internet, but had to resort to my phone as a mobile hotspot. Miles better!

The matches were pretty short and sweet. Perfect length imo.

And being able to play minigames on the pad while you're waiting for players is the best thing ever.

Played the entire hour, only lost two games... it was a ton of fun. Roller is really fun to play with. I really hated the rifle.

The range is just a smidge too short. I had some decent runs with it though. I really loved it, my only beef was how unclear it was in regards to what you can paint and what you can't.

Roller is good, but a team of four rollers will lose almost every time. It's important to chave at least one for area control, but you need people that can take out the other team from a distance.

I would say about 60% connection failure aside, I had a very good time.

I performed much better with the roller in comparison to the other weapons. I hope it's because it's the easiest to get the hang of, and not because the lag screws up my aiming.

I think I had a win streak of 10 matchs at least right until the end. Man, that was totally fun.
Glad I woke up so soon :)

Gonna try the Blaster next time, but I don't think it will change my mind about the paint roller, because holy crab, it's like that weapon was designed for me <3

Played 16 matches, won 13, but some real close ones in there.

I used Splattershot Jr. for most of it. Timed bomb + shield + a decent weapon is a v. nice combo, even if I forgot to use the shield a bunch. You really become the guy that holds a chokepoint down.

Connectivity was great for me until the last 10m where I spent 5m trying to connect to or getting dropped from games.

Roller seems to be legit strong atm with people struggling to aim, and it's got really good coverage... I can see most teams going Roller/Roller/Sniper/Splattershot Jr. once queue-as-friends goes live.

That was really really fun, absolutely no server problems either. Barely any lag at all.

I ADORE the paint roller.

The best feeling in this game is when you see an enemy coming nearby and you enter squid mode so they can't see you and circle around them to roll from behind. So gooooooddddd

I had a blast!

The Splatshoot Jr. is the best set imo. Using the rapid shots to cover the area in paint, grenades to distance enemies, and the invincibility ability to wreck the completion was a successful strategy for me. Rollers provided no problems for me in the last few matches. The last match I scored close to 1000 on a losing team (no 300+ bonus) with 9 kills and two deaths. We still lost by 60% lol.

Okay. Holy shit. That was amazingly fun.

Splatoon is fucking legit. But. But. but but but. There's a lot of room for improvement.

Controls need work. Need to either have x and y both be operable with motion controls or to adjust acceleration. I got used to the motion controls in a sense but I was still fighting it. Ideally what I want to be able to do is target generally with x and y and use the motion controls to do precise aiming. You can do that generally with x but y is totally locked and it sucks. Need both. Also individual sensitivity options maybe.

There's no reason whatsover the map can't just be a button that toggles. You only ever want to jump to teammates or beakons anyway and you're almost always only looking at it on death really to touch. You should be able to lock onto teammates to jump while dead and it auto-jumps there when you spawn. It could also possibly be a minimap because fuck looking down at my controller. Hell, it should be playable with just a pro controller, there's seriously no need for the gamepad whatsoever.

Also nunchuck and wiimote controls please.

But jesus! That game is fun! Once you can get into games. I hope you can back out of the lobby or skip-faster the tutorial because you can get trapped in there and that sucks. Also want to be able to weapon switch while in the lobby or something. But oh my god. This fucking game!

0 lag, 0 disconects from me or anyone in my rooms. INSANELY fun game. I just wish the sniper was better, I was looking forward to it, but I only did well with it when I was on a good team. If my team didn't do well, I couldn't do much with the sniper

That was a fun hour, seems like it's worth it now, the mini gun was my favorite and I hated the sniper (b/c I suck at it). Overall, it was effective in making me want more

Edit: Also, why are motion controls the standard? Glad there's the option to change that, I was subconsciously moving the control stick to aim

People focused too much on killing each other when they should be focusing on the turf, especially the enemies paint.

It was immensely fun even playing with randoms since everyone was learning. Don't know if the game has any staying power though. Will definitely rent it but not about to drop $60 at release for it.

Welp, pre-order confirmed! If the demo was that much fun, can't wait to see the customization aspect in the full game! 1 hour for a online demo sucks though........but I can see it will make people crave it more and buy the full game lol

Ah damn it's over. Just as I was really starting to get into a good rhythm. Really fun game. Paint Rollers seemed OP at first, but I was starting to get a decent handle on killing them easily as the matches went on. Stay our of their paint throw melee range and you can easily kill them. Was just getting used to looking at the map and launching to other teammates too. Really liked what I played so far.
