The problem with the gyro controls is that they're always on and not tied to a bounding box, while also being associated with the giant Wii U pad. So you have this wombo combo of having to move around this frankly large controller to use the aiming effectively while also having to deal with the fact that the cursor can suddenly go off somewhere you don't want it to because you decided to readjust your hand.

It's like taking the mentality of the Wii remote, but not making proper concession to make it fit with the Wii U pad. If they could maybe make it so that the Gyro can be button activated or held so that you could make fine adjustments, I could see that being cool, but as it, it's just kind of a nuisance constantly having it on.

I feel the same. If I ever shifted in my seat it messes up my aiming, it's just more convenient and comfortable to use the normal aiming.

Is there a way to switch from gyro to analog?

Also, I haven't read through the entire thread but does anyone else think the paint roller is fairly OP? I feel like it could use some balancing.

Press y more often? I don't understand the issue, are you saying that it would mess up the calibration? I moved my position a few times, hit y and was good.

Yes. You press start when you're choosing your load out and it give you control options.

The paint roller is agreed to be pretty good as far as territory coverage goes, but is easily countered by taking high ground as the roller has no way of putting paint on walls.

Day one if they add traditional controls.

Roller is easy to use, but it is not OP. Everyone is new to this game at the one-hour period, so roller seems to be a good choice. I am sure people will start learning and thinking out strategy to deal with the rollers in the next session. Like, people may use the chargers to snipe those rollers.

this game feels incredibly smooth, but my reviewer bs senses are tingling and i just know that a majority of the reviewers will give this an 8.5(nothing wrong with that), then 1 reviewer will give it like a 4 just cuz content, and there will be a huge argument on gaf.

Can't wait for the full game to totally customize my inkling. All the inklings on the demo looking the same were kinda monotone. So glad they added tons of cutomization options almost like an RPG!

It's the ciiiiiiiiiircle of life

This testemony on 4chan made me smile.
That guy totally understood the game.

>final match
>super jump into a dead comrade (alive at time i launch)
>land, throw grenade
>kill two
>run over other one
>call me van gogh, cuz im painting like a crazy mother fucker
>5 seconds left
>ignore everyone, paint like its my job
>final results
>win by 1%
There's no feeling like it

When you lose 41,5% - 41,6%.

It doesn't sound like you're using the gyro as it is suggested in the online manual? (Haven't played the demo yet myself, I've only read the manual.) According to the manual, aim with the gyro, look left/right with the right stick, reset the camera if needed with B.

Seriously, it's extremely easy to kill the roller guys.

The only problem is the respawn times are non-existant so unless the entire enemy team is wiped off the map they just come right back and start where they left off at.

Turf Wars being the only mode is what makes the Roller so ridiculous.

I wonder if they'll tweak the classes based on the massive data they will acquire (If this is just not a server stress test)

I don't think that would be a great idea, since at max they're getting 3 hours of gameplay and that's not really giving much of a focused look at things.

Loved the first test, really good game, It's unfortunate that it took me until the last 20 minutes to read everything in the load screen and figure out how to turn off gyro controls. Servers were good enough, had some problems connecting, but nothing that wasn't solved by trying to connect a couple of times.

I bet it feels amazing to know that you were the one to "carry the team" as far as inking the map goes.
I get the feeling that a lot of people will be more focused on killing others in multiplayer, so there is a good niche for the players who aren't very good at that, and can focus on spreading the territory.

An hour and a half until the next test! Looking forward to my first time playing.

Thank you so much, the gyro controls aren't too bad but analog sounds so much more enjoyable.

The nice thing about turf war is that even if people are just going for kills they're still helping lay down ink.

Was it easy to get connected? No server issues?
Just under 2 hours till I jump in.
When it starts it might give you an error, just keep trying to connect and you'll get in eventually.

Boy are you using it wrong. Dont use it like a wiimote.

Anyway I am up and ready for more.

I am at work, it takes me 10 mins to get home. I was thinking of running home on my 45 min break to give this a try at 0400. Is it worth all that effort for only 20-30 mins of play time? Do you guys think there will be a demo once this comes out?

Just under 2 hours till I jump in.
Was disconnected twice, not countining the first few minutes and the end. Both times I very quickly searched for a new game and got in.

Would be quite annoying if it was a regular occurence when playing with friends, but for the first hour of a server test, it was fine. Much faster matchmaking than Titanfall (Beta), the matchmaking clock is two minutes long and I never saw it get near one minute, so I packed a lot of games into the hour. (Forgot to count, will try this time.)
