Paint roller feels good to roll around, but the splatter gun is more fun. I topped the board even with rollers on my team.

What annoyed me was that I didn't see a paint meter while playing, or it wasn't where I was looking and too often I ran out of paint. ): Turning into a squid also had slower movement than I expected. Overall great fun though.

Yeah but if the roller sneaks up behind you, you're fucked lol. But my favourite weapons has to be the splatter fun with the shield special.

The sniper seems like trash.

I came to this conclusion after 5 matches of getting bodied, then switching to splattershot and winning the next 5 matches afterwards. I mean, I'm sure it will be better once I can fully customize my own sniper loadout, but the one provided pales in comparison to the other 3.

But who knows, maybe I'm just garbage at sniper.

Once the gyro controls were settling in it was amazing. Roller is not OP, it just that it requires no aim so its better right now since everyone is trying to learn how to aim. Love that objective is covering paint and not killing really changes the dynamic of the game

Splattershot Jr. is choice against rollers. Shield is also super useful to break through any blockades. It's important to not get stuck camping somewhere as that just means you are losing ground.

There were two communication commands, Come on! and Booyah! so there is some coordination even without voice chat. I didn't see anyone use them other than me though.

Well the normal Splattershot is pretty effective too. Those ink balloons, and the super unlimited balloons can wreck people if they aren't careful. Also good for covering turf in a pinch.

Man this game is so Jet Grind Radio X Nintendo.

Also, the big successful, and probably annoying strategy I found was to camp nearby when I see an enemy marker showing that someone if about to superjump there, and then insta kill them lol

Tips vs Rollers: Shoot at the ground they are coming from, it will slow them down and allow you to shoot at them while they're stuck in your ink. I killed tons of Rollers this way tonight, in close quarters (like when they were literally centimeters away from crushing me) and won most of the time (save for a few instances where we both died). I should note I was using the regular Splattershot, not the Jr. one as well and dealt with rollers very quickly.

Rollers being called OP this early is gross, barely any of you have a grasp on the controls -- how can you comment and know it's the best weapon when there's stuff we don't even have access to yet that could very easily counter it even harder? Not to mention, we didn't even have access to the better charge shot sniper. An hour and some of you are acting like you are amazing at the game and know it in and out already lol.

That aside, the game is fun and I'm def. going to purchase it day 1. The aiming felt a bit better when I turned down the sensitivity to like -2 or so but it definitely still feels a little unwieldy compared to the gyro. If only using the gyro didn't cause my hands to get a little sore because of how awkward I have to move it -- the gyro feels more natural for spraying ink on the ground but the analogue stick has wayyy better accuracy for shooting at people. It's very weird.

So, I enjoyed that more than I thought I would. Won my last three games in a row! I used the roller in those games, but I want to get better with the 'regular' shooters.

Yep. I want this game!

Aaaaaannnnnnnd it's over.

That was mad fun. I was also surprised at how good the netcode was. Outside of a couple of moments where the paint will take a little longer to show up, it was pretty much lag-free.

Well done, Nintendo. You've created another awesome game and can't wait for the full version.

I got three matches in and it was pretty fun. I gotta play again when the second round starts to get a better feel for the game.

There was no lag at all from what I saw which is a huge plus for me.

Took about 3 matches for it to click with me and when it did I started dominating. I'll pick it up day one. Everything is balanced well and I like how you can easily evade most situations by squiding away.

Sniping is hard.... worthless even, at least the sniper rifle we're given here. You can't pave the territory very well with it and the range is too small to provide actual support, at least that's my impression.

Yeah I tryed it for one match and it was clumsy and weird. The charge + hip shooting just didn't feel right.

I think I'm gonna wake up at 6 tomorrow for round 2

Also I kinda wonder if they'll have any other gamepad minigames besides the jumping one. I kinda doubt it but either way, nice to have a little something to kill the time. Despite the simplicity it's still satisfying and makes the waits go by like nothing

Splatoon: Believe The Hype

Game is fun but I'll wait until its cheaper or at least until I can play custom matches with buddies. Hopefully they can add 2 player online and wii mote support

Playing for an hour tonight definitely reinforced my decision to preorder, I had a lot of fun. I'm pretty mediocre at shooters so my win rate was probably 50% but I always ranked high on ink coverage ;)

Not sure I'll get another chance to play this weekend. Getting up early tomorrow would be brutal, and I'm typically tied up with other stuff during the last time slot.

I forgot it started at 8 and only played about 20 minutes, but it was really fun. I only tried the Splat Charger and Roller. The Roller is definitely strong. I look forward to playing again tomorrow!

One thing I noticed was that not too many people throw grenades. My teams weren't winning games but I was catching a lot of multikills with them. They help paint dangerous areas too.
They suck ultraballs at doing any sort of verticality. If you're high enough they literally cannot hit you as they can't paint the walls high enough.
I learned that halfway through the hour. I was just hanging on top with my sniper with rollers circling below.

Ah that was pretty fun. I only lost twice and it was because my team was trying to get kills rather than cover ground. It was a hoot.

But yeah, whoever said this game didn't need voice chat was HIGH. Everyone lone wolfing it makes for some REALLY dumb matches.

feel so legit though constantly topping teams no matter where I was

fuck

this game

i'm gonna play so much fucking splatoon

I kept only using the shield when my teamates where around me not when I was in danger, probably contributed to my many deaths in the game.

After getting used to the sniper weapon, anyone who was "rolling by" with the roller was shot on site. It's an easy weapon to counteract, as long as you have a reasonable amount of distance between you and the enemy.

Yeah, the good Snipers picked me off at a short distance as a Roller.

The dynamic balance between the classes is brilliant.

You know what else this game could use? Voice chat. :P

So many times the entire team went in one direction instead of splitting up to cover more ground. And if they intended to split up, they'd still end up going in the same directions because everyone had the same idea, lol.
