Do we know which amiibo unlocks which game? I'll probably get the girl myself so it'd be cool if she just so happened to unlock the game I want most.

No, but here is a post I made earlier with speculation as to which amiibo unlocks which minigame.

If I had to bet, I'd say the inkling girl unlocks Squid Beatz.

Hopefully we'll have a definite answer soon due to press copies going out this week.

Which Amiibo do you think will unlock each of the respective 8 bit minigames?

It seems to me that the green squid amiibo will unlock Squid Racer and the inkling girl will unlock Squid Beatz due to the headphones she is constantly sporting in official renders.

I suppose that leaves the inkling boy to unlock the Squidball game? I don't see why he would unlock that one, but it's the last one due to process of elimination.

I'm just so in love with the style of this game. It feels like 1998-1999 skater/punk/hip-hop youth culture went underground and re-emerged 15 years later, and by gum, it's fresh again.

I guess everything goes in cycles.

Reading the last few pages, I'm always surprised by how much some fans are willing to shut down any criticism. I mean, why is it wrong to offer more options?

Why is it wrong to shut up and use the controller the system was designed for instead of constantly whining about it and shitting up thread after thread?

In my case, I have posted in exactly one thread (this one) about it. I would like to think my posts have contained polite, constructive suggestions about how an alternative control scheme could work. As I and another poster have mentioned (again, in this one thread and no other threads), we had hand/wrist issues after only an hour of playing, and pro controller support would be a big help for that.

If I have "shitted up" this thread or other threads, or whined in this thread or other threads about it, I for one apologize since that was not my intent.

Because there's no reason to limit ourselves to it. If you like it that's great, but there's nothing it does that can't be replicated with the Pro Controller, and members here provided great examples of how it would work.

And I don't see how this is "thread shitting" when we're talking about how to make the game more accessible and provide more options to people. We don't hate the game, we just want it to be better with these simple fixes.

For people ordering amiibos for the actual content they give, make sure you're aware that each amiibo only gives 20 missions (which are just pre-existing single player levels with certain stipulations), an unspecified number of outfits (probably only 1), and a new arcade mini-game for the loading screens.

Be sure you know what you're buying.

I'm just ordering the amiibo for the schoolgirl outfit, everything else is just added benefit.

Only got one hour to play it yesterday but it was everything I expected and then some.
The controls are so smooth, the squid form, aiming, jumping, it just feels great. And the different strategies you can come up with. The maps are also very well designed and clear with strategic points to defend. I like how it's crystal clear who shoots who. In other TPS or FPS I'm often confused with who is the opposide team. The aural and sound feedback when you splat someone is very satisfying, more than some realistic shooters. Yep, I'm going to enjoy this one quite a bit :)

Not sure why people think the single player campaign just consists of bot matches. Especially if they've actually watched the Direct.

You're not playing turf war against AI Inklings. The opponents are Octopi and it looks more like a platformer with ink-based puzzles and large boss encounters.

That's more than I thought.

I've got a hypothesis or two why the boy unlocks squidball...

Im watching the livestream of gamexplain's time with the demo, and im suffering from some type of withdrawel

I can see the point in pushing out the playing with friends option but I don't get why they're only launching with 4 maps. 3 months of 4 maps is gonna get stale.

Didn't they say they were adding more every few weeks, along with weapons, gear, and new modes?

Or are the new maps only being added in the big content update in August?

They did say they will be releasing new stuff every few weeks I believe its maps and stuff, but august is like one huge big updates with maps and modes and everyone whether they're new to the game and havent reached level 10 or not will be able to play in rank mode because there is a very special mode that will come that im guessing has something to do with why they put it for level 10 and up only.

They're playing it safe by concentrating the limited amount of players in a single mode and on a smaller amount of maps just to ensure you can always find a full session at launch. I'm really surprised so many people can't seem to understand why they're doing this.

That way everyone can also get used to the mechanics, the online in general and learn the maps properly.

Maybe by the time new stuff gets added we're finally over the "Rollers are OP!" phase and people have figured out that they're actually well balanced and when they owned matches with them this weekend, it just meant everyone was super green lol.

It's a nice detail, but I feel it hurts gameplay wise as it's easy to lose focus on it while moving and morphing.

How so? As soon as you squid, you'll see the meter HUD pop-up anyway and you're refilling again. After that you know you just got more ink and don't need to look at the tank for a few seconds. All of this will become second nature. Remember that at max you just played this for 3 hours.

Oh yeah, I forgot that it shows up when you're swimming in ink.

Another strategy is to mostly stay in the ink until you need to pop out for any purpose.
Also memorizing how long till the tank runs out is fairly easy.

Personally I'm buying some really cute figures that I'll have on display, and they just happen to give a bonus in this game.

What kind of demographic are going to playing this game? I don't mean to brag but by the end I was having matches where I was getting over 1100 or 1200 p points and like 12 kills to 3 deaths. Hell in my very last match I got 1294 p points and 15 kills no deaths using spjr.

Are most people who played this game less experienced do you think or is it just a case of new type of game and I picked it up faster than most?

Lirik played the demo on his stream yesterday and liked it. I was hoping he would, but it could go either way; he's known for streaming hardcore PC games like Arma III, Day-Z, Rust and H1Z1, but occasionaly plays Mariokart with friends on his night stream. I'm sure he'll buy the game when it's released and stream it.
Quite a few chat comments about the graphics/art; "lulz kids game with shitty grafx" and "LOL WTF at the price, this should be F2P".

The kind that have played the game for less than 3 hours? :P

I'm sure differences will even out when the game is out. In addition there's the ranked mode where I'm sure you can face tougher enemies. Although it'll be interesting to see if Wii U audience is just inexperienced in shooter gameplay.

Don't get too ahead of yourself. My 8 year old daughter had a few games where she had over 1000 points.

Just give people time, I'm sure everyone will become better. I noticed the competition was much harder in round 3 compared to round 2, some people are getting it faster than others but eventually people will catch up.

For the record, I was consistently being placed 2nd or 3rd in my team, I was 1st once and 4th once also.

Always be inking

One thing I remember you pointing out when the game was revealed at E3 was worried that the sound effect for the guns would be annoying, and I think we can thankfully say that isnt the case, it never felt annoying or exhaustive to listen to the sound effect over and over again, infact I think I actually find the effect quite pleasant.

My 12 years old son won 4 time during his session and scored 3 time over 1100, with different weapons. He clearly did better than me, with gyro control, of course.

Pretty much my exact experience. Hyped!

Yeah I was really worried about that but eventually I kinda just... phased it out.

So here's a question - what was your favorite color combination in the demo? I imagine a lot of people will find themselves using the Color Lock not just to assist with trouble viewing colors but also to get combinations of preference.

I really liked Green and Pink.

You wouldn't make the distinction unless the thing distinct about it compared to other F2P games wasn't important.

The thing that potentially (we haven't seen the progression, yet!) distinguishes this from F2P games is the fact that the game's monetisation isn't dependent on players buying currency.

It has struck me that this is a structure that could very easily go F2P down the line. But that's not the same thing.

Kills really don't matter that much in turf wars, though. I mean sure, it is useful to kill opponents to they can't ink for a while, but it is not the objective.

The game isn't hard, but people already started developing strategies (I think it is called splathoping or something) and if you don't learn these you will eventually have a hard time playing online.

I am biased towards purple, but I will have to go with Green and Pink too. The combo looks so vibrant and lively.

Weren't the Mii fighter suits in SSB also tied to these amiibo? Plus future unlocks, of course.

Plus getting an awesome inkling on your desk.
