Are you guys planning on playing through the single player first and jumping into the multi later?

Or do you think you will jump right into the turf war action to get yourself to the coveted level 10?

If you guys see a Reila in those videos, please let me know ^^

Usually it is single player first, then multi for me. But in Splatoon I want to customize my squid, then try all multi modes and then single player.

I was originally planning on getting this game mainly because the single player looked cool, as well as the controls

however after the demo I think I might be hooked. first online shooter I'll be getting into since TF2 back in like 2009 haha.

so to answer your question I don't think I'll be able to resist playing online right away

I think this is a great analysis for how to tackle Turf War on Saltspray Rig: http://squidboards.com/threads/turf-war-competitive-strategies-control-points.633/

I think I'm going to do the latter. I'll just play single player until Ranked Battles is unlocked and then complete whatever is left later.

Same here.
Haven't appeared in any yet though ;_;

It'd be so cool if there was another Testfire before release. I want to play ;_;

All I want to be able to do is exclaim "HEY THAT'S ME!!!!!!!!!" and act like it actually matters ahaha.

I probably should do single player first, but I had so much fun playing online it'll be hard not to just jump right into multiplayer.

I'll keep a look out. :)

I wonder if I'll ever see my name pop up in any of these videos. Oddly, I recognize a couple of names I see in some videos because I either killed them or teamed up with them a lot.

Though I'll never forget running into the name DiscoDawrf. It's burned into my brain because it's a great name.

Lots of names stood out to me.

I'll never forget thee brave Ham., together we stormed the strongholds of our enemies and dined on top of their corpses. It was funny because their color was pink.

Gyro is on and I have all controls on default.

I actually didn't know you can change the controls until i read this thread.

i thought so... you have a strong ability to keep your perspective stabilized. I was trying to train that alot

once players get used to the controls people are gonna cry about how op snipers are. "What, he killed me from up there? How could I possibly lose with my short ranged weapon against a long-ranged weapon?!"

The demo was so fun, even tho I only managed to play for about an hour. Tried Charger and Splattershot (I'm terrible with the Charger). I doub't I've been this excited for a new IP before! I can't even focus at work:
(sorry for the poorly done doodle, but I couldn't help it)

I'm too lazy to look through videos to check for my name. It'll make the wait for the game that much harder anyway.

Whatchu talking about poorly done? That's pretty good if you ask me.

This is making me want to draw....

Forgot to check, did the players we met in the demo get added to the “Recently played” tab of the Wii U friendlist?

They all did from yesterday.

Didn't even realize this was a Wii U feature, lol. Pretty handy. Although I haven't played anything online on the Wii U except for MK8 and the Splatoon demo.

This is some great footage! You have some really cool techniques.

I also appreciate the fact that you recorded in 60fps :)

Edit: Damn your charger skills are impressive as well. :O

Why thank you. I've played as the Ship in Metroid Blast quite a lot so I got used to the controls in almost no time.

I ended up going tbag crazy after awhile I hope I didn't do it to anyone from here :P

Did it to people who actively hunted me down after I splatted them (note I never tbag the first time only if they try to get revenge).

Gonna check my "players ran into" list.

Thanks! I do like his body but his gun is all sorts of wrong to me. It is better than what I can usually do at work tho.

You totally should draw! I wish I had more time so I didn't had to doodle something at work

Very rapidly yes, since it forces them to look at you for 3 seconds it works all too well.

I think I will then. :)

The gun is a little weird but it's not bad you did the foreshortening pretty well for something that was probably done hastily.

IIRC you'll get money from single player, but you'll get more money from playing online.

To be clear, from how it was worded in the direct, you get money by playing the multiplayer mode, both from your personal performance as well as a bonus for your team winning. That money is used in the various gear shops to purchase new gear (weapon sets, clothes, hats, shoes). Then there are Super Snails which are obtained by doing well during Splatfests (and I assume there will be other ways to get these, too), turned in to Spyke to adjust the perks on a piece of gear.

All of that is separate from the single player, where you use different gear (the Hero Shot and Hero Suit). It didn't look like this stuff uses the same perk system, rather the Hero gear you can level up over time by collecting power eggs (you see them scattered all around the levels and from splattering Octarians). The direct didn't seem very clear about just what leveling the gear up is supposed to do for you gameplay-wise, but I would imagine damage resistance and boosts to your ink-efficacy, etc.

I love seeing the map overlay at the end. Especially when your team dominated.

I've got withdrawals, people. I only got to play one of the 3 hours. These videos have been great though. Some of you've really got a handle on the game so far.

Single-player currency is only for single-player gear. Multiplayer currency is only for multiplayer gear.

Ah, okay. I guess I mixed something up.
